Child's Play

Author Note: So this is the JohnLock chapter! If you don't like JohnLock then don't read passed the point that I say and enjoy the little bit that you can read!

I want to say this up here for everyone but I'm writing a prompt that was given to me by Red Sky of little John and Sherlock. It's going to start when they are seven and continue from there. It's going to contain eventual JohnLock but to start with there won't be any because they are young so if you want to check that out I'm uploading it at the same time as this and it's called 'When We Were Young'.

Special thanks to RainyDays-and-DayDreams (Not too- who am I kidding of course it was obvious XD), OneCutePug (I'm glad that you've enjoyed it this far and I hope that this chapter doesn't disappoint), Zennaa (I'm flattered. Thank you so much and I'm really glad that you've enjoyed it that much!), Little-bit-of-Sherlock-Holmes (I shall always and forever write! As long as I have great people, such as yourself, supporting me!), thewhovianat221b (I would never –permanently- kill half an OTP! I'm really glad that you are that involved in the story!), AussieTayla (I know I secretly love those bits of fics too. I just love the angst!), LifeisSupernatural500 (Thank you so much *bows* I'm happy that you cried because that's what I like when people are really into it! Thank you!) and fezwearingjellybananas (I'm glad you thought so!) for the amazing, awesome, incredibly, epic, mindblowingly beautiful reviews!

I want to say another thank you to you all and I hope to see you reading some of my other fanfics! xx

The Start Of JohnLock

John didn't think that he was going to go through with their deal that they'd made when Sherlock was a child. It was made more for Sherlock than for him anyway. He just wanted to make sure that Sherlock understood that he did want him back and he just thought that that would encourage him.

It didn't matter. That's why it came as such a shock that the first thing Sherlock remembered was the deal they had made.

"I can't go back on a deal John. I am a man on my word," He muttered with a less than pleased expression evident on his face.

"You lie to everyone every day. It was only yesterday that you told your brother that you couldn't help his fancy client because you are already on a case," John said raising his eyebrows and disbelief.

"That's different. He's my brother," Sherlock muttered and looked up at John.

"You don't have a single case because Lestrade won't give you one. I wouldn't either. Look at the state of you and you're still begging him for a case!"

It was true that Sherlock had been begging him for a case this whole time but he knew that the dull throbbing coming from his legs and the numerous bruises and still healing cuts would distract him. He just wanted even a zest of normality back and it was apparent now that that wasn't going to happen for a while.

Both his legs were broken from impact and therefore he was stuck in a wheel chair with casts on both of his legs. John had already left him places a few times because Sherlock is usually so springing that John just doesn't think about it. Sherlock isn't the most muscular of people so he can't quite move the chair by himself and he'd relying on John to move him which is also bothering him.

"I get bored John," Sherlock muttered placing the tips of his fingers together and holding the pyramid up to his chin.

"I know very well that you get bored Sherlock," John moaned rubbing his hand roughly down his face.

John knew all too well that Sherlock got bored. Every few hours he would call out just to tell him he was bored and John was a little sick of it. The words varied –it was as if Sherlock was a wheel around Thesaurus recently- but that made it no less tedious to listen too. Back to the thesaurus thing, he probably was reading the thesaurus out of boredom and therefore knew every single variation of every word in the English dictionary.

"Well performing this month's portion of our arrangement should fix my boredom momentarily," Sherlock pointed out looking to John.

John looked at the great detective in his purple shirt that he believed was his favourite and smiled slightly, "Okay then."

OoO

Sherlock sat in the chair and watched John intently as he took out some vehicles that had antenna sticking out of the top. They weren't anything special in Sherlock's eyes but as he looked at John he could see that they held lots of memories; good memories.

"Which one do you suggest?" Sherlock asked crossing his legs and sitting balanced on the slumping sofa cushions.

"You seemed to like the car the best," John said, a small smile emerging on his face, "You weren't too good at handling the helicopter. Greg always used the helicopter when you were doing police chases. Even as a little, well not so little, boy, man, thing, you still loved the thrill of the chase."

(JohnLock descriptions and stuff start now! Thanks for reading the first bit and review to tell me what you thought! I love you all! xx)

Sherlock looked at John smiling and couldn't help but smile himself. John had that effect on him; making him smile and Sherlock hadn't been able to figure out how for a substantially long amount. He had always thought of himself as a genius but he couldn't figure out what he was feeling. It wasn't like Sherlock was known for understanding a humans feeling –other than the science behind them- but he had thought that he'd at least be able to figure out his own.

He had been feeling differently about John not long after they had met and started living together. When they first met he had immediately deduced that John would be able to get along quite well with him and at the time Sherlock getting along with anyone even the tiniest bit was a bonus.

Sherlock knew that he was the easiest person to get along with but he really didn't see any point in trying to change everything about himself to get people to like him. That was how he'd been brought up, to be proud of who he was because he had something that no one else had; something that made him special. And to be honest, he was proud of the way his mind works and he didn't ever want to 'dumb down' to fit in. It just wasn't how he wanted to work.

But after a while, Sherlock found himself getting alone with John very well and wanting to spend time with him. He'd never really felt that before with anyone. He couldn't remember a time when he'd really wanted to be with someone as much as he'd wanted to be with John. He began to look forward to cases for more than just something to do but because he could run through the streets of London with John; the wind blowing through his mop of curls and John's heavy footsteps following him every step of the way.

These feelings increased steadily and they began to confuse Sherlock at times when he would be sat beside John and wishing that he could wrap his arm around him and feel him next to him. He began to look at John as more than a companion but a friend and he wanted him to be more than that. John was his first friend and, as he later found out, first crush; he just didn't know what to do.

"Hello," John said waving a hand in front of Sherlock's face. He'd been sat with his thinking face on for quite a while now and John was beginning to get a little worried. A few seconds of silence along with the thinking face he was used to but that long was a different matter entirely.

John sometimes surprised himself with how much he knew about the mysterious sociopathic man that he shared a flat with. He was fully aware that no one had ever got as close as he had to Sherlock no matter how hard they tried. It seemed that Irene had tried and Moriarty sure had given it a good go but John liked to think that he was definitely the closest.

He could generally tell what mood Sherlock was in and found that he could easily and happily act accordingly. He knew himself that he'd only ever felt that way about people that he loved and that made him a little scared because he believed that he could never get any closer to him.

Sherlock was a self diagnosed 'high functioning sociopath' and isolation relationship wise usually came with that. Somehow though, John had managed to march into Sherlock's space and make himself at home which many people considered a beneficial thing for the strange and alone man. But, John couldn't help wondering whether it was the right thing for him.

He had always felt something different towards Sherlock and he'd tried to cover it up by dating all those girls. They were nice and pretty but they weren't Sherlock and it was slowly becoming apparent that he couldn't keep dating girls when Sherlock was the man that he really wanted to be with.

He just wasn't sure what he could possibly do.

"Sorry. What were you saying?" Sherlock mumbled as the twinkle returned to his eyes and he snapped out of his trace and moved his eyes from the corner of the table to John's face.

John sighed and smiled a little before thrusting the remote for the car into his hands, "We'll have a race."

Sherlock looked at the remote quizzically and then at John, "I don't think I can remember how to work this."

John sighed again and put his own remote down before wrapping his hands over Sherlock's and showing him which button does what by moving his fingers for him and watching as the car scooted across the floor.

"Got it?" John asked letting go and picking up his own controller once more.

Sherlock nodded and looked at the car with a face of concentration that really seemed out of place in an innocent race with children's play things.

"I'll race you to the window and back," John said readying his helicopter which rose into the air with a surprising amount of speed, "Ready, steady, go!"

Both vehicles set off and it seemed very even until they reached the point at which they had to turn. Both men had gathered enough to be able to make them move straight but John had the advantage of quite a bit of practice and skilfully turned his helicopter around and sent it back on its way. He stopped it and caught it in one hand as Sherlock continued to struggle to turn his car around.

"What are you doing?" John asked trying and failing to hold back a snigger, "Just reverse and turn it around."

Sherlock had his tongue poking out the corner of his mouth as he tried to follow John's instructions but failed again, "It's not as easy as it looks."

John laughed as Sherlock tried once again and drove the car hard into the wall, "I now see why you don't have a drivers licence."

Sherlock's concentration broke and he began to laugh along with John. He had to admit that he really was terrible at driving the remote control car and he couldn't help but laugh as he drove the car into the wall once again.

"We save someone and then I'd run them over as we drove away," Sherlock chuckled as he dropped the remote onto the floor and put his hands on his stomach chuckling loudly.

"You would lose your licence within a week," John laughed falling sideways onto the sofa and looking at Sherlock who was nearly crying with laughter.

It all seemed very silly and immature to be laughing so hysterically at such a thing but neither of them could help it as they continued to laugh and laugh. Both of them knew that they were adults but sometimes even the most adult of people needed to let their inner child out and this was their time.

Sherlock wiped his eyes slightly and looked at John who was laid on the sofa, his head resting beside his leg and still laughing. He saw the laughter crinkles around his eyes and his lips curled up in a bright and brilliant smile that seemed to light up the flat. He didn't know why but he couldn't stop himself. He cupped John's face with his hands and kissed his soft, smiling lips.

He kissed back immediately and Sherlock couldn't help smile through the kiss. He had finally found someone that liked him for him; that really liked him and who he wanted to be with too. He was happy and after all that they had gone through he decided that it was about time he started making John happy too as he was now the happiest man alive.
