A/N: Short. VERY short. But I kept you hanging long enough. I'm just really, really bad at the update-frequently stuff, plus my second language is English, so I will have slow updates, however...I will continue this story to the very end. No. Doubt. 'Bout. It.

With my possibly mouth treacherous mouth saying that; I thereby give you this chapter!

Note also that Athena's behaviour in this fanfic is mostly affected by her pregnancy mood-swings...well, PARTLY. Ahem.

Disclaimer: I don't own the franchise. If I did, all of this would have happened...fortunately for those who want quality.

"Come on, Hawkie! Aren't you excited? Cause I'm excited? Are you? Huh?" Athena gushed and tugged at Apollo's arm, forcing him to follow her.

He sighed innerly, wondering why she was about to explode. Yeah, sure, going to check the ultrasound was a unique event, but did the morning really have to start with breakfast consisting of pancakes, coffee, cream, strawberries, juice, croissants and hot chocolate; 2 rounds of it?

Worse, why did it have to be him who cooked everything?

He looked at the much shorter girl walking in front of him, having a steel grip on his hand. Her hair was put up in a ponytail with a white, fluffy band, reflecting her bubbly personality (extra points now that her mood was up in the clouds). She didn't wear her trademark yellow lawyer suit, instead, she had a sacky brown and white sweatshirt, which still somehow hugged around her slender waist. She didn't wear make-up.

Not that she needed make-up. Her unkempt beauty was enough to stun him.

Look at him. He wore a thick brown shirt, not completely unlike hers, but he was nothing in comparison to her looks; her fiery hair, her bubbly blue eyes...

"Apollo, LOOK! A CANDY-FLOSS STAND! LET'S GET SOME BEFORE THEY RUN OUT!" Athena squealed in delight, pointing eagerly to said stand.

...did he mention her hot-blooded and ridiculously optimistic demeanor? Right now, he couldn't help but chuckle.

"Okay, okay, let's get some." He smiled, forgetting the reason he was grumpy. It was hilarious how he talked to her as though she was his own daughter. Maybe it was a good exercise for the real thing later on; as long as she would mellow out of it for that time.

Later on, they were in the elevator; Athena complaining over and over that she shouldn't have taken two of those. Apollo stared at her intently, a slightly evident cynical look. Being the big eater must be a pain in the bum. That you couldn't control your hunger and would cling to anything in sight for the sake of keeping your belly constantly filled.

He trailed his gaze down at her belly; it was rounding her off good, making it impossible to guess she was just fat. Technically, they should have gone to an morphology scan a week ago; but it didn't happen due to two things. First; they were inexperienced and sort of awkward about the ordeal, thusly not knowing when to check the ultrasound for so long (until Phoenix pointed it out). Second, there hadn't been time in the schedule for him to squeeze it in; he refused to let Athena go on her own when it was about his baby's gender.

Hey, only because he was busy, it didn't mean he was indifferent to the baby's potential.

Reaching out to stroke her over the belly; it was of the intention to feel the life within and also the thought that by eating candy floss (which he shouldn't have let her eat on second thought) was satiating for the baby. Maybe her stomach ache rooted from something else entirely.

Athena jumped at the touch, looking up at him with mixed thoughts due to being previously absent. Looking down at his hand that were touching her stomach, she blushed a little. She had told him that he was free to touch her belly whenever he wanted, but it still made her flinch when he did it so suddenly without warning.

Feeling a kick, he smirked as he thought of something, looking up at his wife.

"The baby kicks like a girl."

Athena pouted.

"Not every boy will be a masculine alfa-male, mister. Besides, I felt such a hard kick yesterday I was about to choke."

"Proof?"

"Hmph." She crossed her arms over her chest and faced away, looking like a little girl who were told not to get the dolly she wanted.

For the second time within those five minutes, a rosy blush was elicited from her as she was pulled into a warm hug by the other. The sudden action had her hold her hands on his chest, feeling no space for her to breathe.

"You're cute when you're mad."

"S-stop." She huffed, looking at the location above the door, seeing the arrows light in time with the floors. "We're almost up."

He reluctantly obliged, the doors opening as if on cue. They walked up to the reception and the assistant more than gladly looked up their schedule for them. She informed that their slot was there and that they could sit down and wait.

During that short while, Apollo and Athena had small talk about various things, that was actually pointless in comparison to their incoming appointment.

"Excited?" Apollo asked.

Athena bit her lip and nodded eagerly. "Really excited. I really wanted a child when I grew up. It's like I'm myself again."

Athena's past was not something to joke about, and you could never have guessed that her optimistic attitude had their origins from there. Her mom was murdered by a spy when she was eleven, and Blackquill had tried to protect her by sending himself to jail with a fake confession. Athena's and Blackquill's bond was strong and one of a kind, but it never escalated beyond that. He said that she is like the little sister he never had, and to Athena like a brother. So he took the news of their wedding really well. He was just happy that Athena was getting over her mother's demise and settled down.

A lady seeming to be in her mid-fifties came out, calling out their names. When they got up, she greeted the couple. Her smile was a little too wide and that kept Apollo somewhat wary; but his abilities noticed that she was merely tired, she must have had a rough day, so his qualms were quickly put to rest.

"Hi, I'm Ahn Lockwae." She introduced herself, shaking hands with both of them. "This way, please."

They obeyed like a couple of puppies and followed her down the hallway. It was oddly quiet. The only thing they could hear were the heels of their shoes as they met the floor, and some discreet talking a few doors away.

Athena's stomach had yet to grow so she had little trouble walking, but he took her hand anyway, stroking it softly. He could divine a subtle smile on Lockwae's face.

They entered a room, and Mrs. Lockwae gave a sign to Athena to sit down. "Sit down, dear."

She obeyed and sat down on the edge of the hospital sofa required for patients.

The doctor began with a heartful smile at them both, looking back an forth between them, leaving her gaze on Athena.

"How do you feel, sweetheart? Have you felt any ill?"

Athena shrugged. "I've felt better." She smiled, "But what aren't you doing for miracles."

"That is very true." She nodded in agreement as she picked up a tube, naturally assuming that she was going to use the cream to anoint her stomach. "Have a few kids myself. Six actually."

Apollo almost laughed at the surprised, and slightly horrified, look on his wife's face. He suspected that she wouldn't want to violate her uterus more than necessary when it came to giving birth.

"That's...many."

"Yeah, they were not easy, especially my twins. Tykes, those two. They would consistently roll themselves in mud and their poor mother would spend the afternoon cleaning them up." She shook her head at the memory. Not wanting to scare Athena with her words, she turned to her with an assuring smile. "But I love them dearly. Motherhood will give you that extra boost of energy you could never hope to achieve, dearie."

Athena nodded eagerly, not seeming the least put down by her words in the first place. Apollo wondered if she had been listening at all.

"Well, it's about time we find out the gender of the little bundle, ain't it not?" Athena's eyes shone like stars and quite eagerly clapped her hands. Apollo thought it was immensely cute; being mature but yet so childlike. It was a doubled trait only his wife seemed to possess.

Athena pulled up her shirt to have it oiled by Lockwae, and when finished, she brought a scanner over her stomach. The picture on the monitor was distorted, but after a while they seemed to get a picture. Lockwae informed them on what they could see, seeing as they weren't used to these sort of images like she was.

When he could see the form of his baby, his and Athena's baby, Apollo felt an overwhelming feeling. He was actually seeing his spawn, his future child he and Athena would have the privilege to raise together. Their first-born, a human they created through the power of love. It was theirs. Their child. His and Athena's! This strong feeling swirled in his chest so much he had to turn away so not to accidently spill any "man-liquid".

"You see that? A well-built little arm and leg. It seems like this little child will be just fine." The tone in her voice sounded like she knew she was killing them regarding the gender, but purposely dragged it out to tease them a bit. "And here is-"

"Oh, come on, you're killing me here!" Athena almost bounced to the point that the picture went away. Apollo disciplined her by putting an assertive but lovable hand on her shoulder to make her stay still.

"Hmm...ah! Now I see to get the picture!" Lockwae said cheekily, a frolic shade over her features. The scanner was seeking around her lower abdomen to keep a still image for Athena to see. The girl in question squinted her eyes, as if sunlight were beaming through the half-closed blinds to see better.

"I-I don't see ANYTHING! Is-is it genderless?!" Athena exclaimed worriedly. Apollo didn't even twitch at her significant comment.

"Okay, okay, enough messing with you, dear. I will now tell you that it is a girl," Apollo smirked victoriously. Lockwae gave him a dodgy gaze, "or a boy." Apollo stopped his arms crossed gesture and sulked with a pout. Dumb old lady... was his momentarily disappointment making him think.

"And the gender is..." Lockwae faded suspensefully. Athena bit her lip with clenched fists and expectant radiation glimmering in her eyes, butterflies in her stomach. Apollo was just a tad as curious, but, in his head, more maturely to make a childlike deal of. Lockwae opened her mouth, the both of them leaning closer, and...

Just then, the mobile chose the perfect moment to be a nuisance as it ringed. Apollo sighed heavily, but after picking it up, he sighed even more heavily as he saw who was on the display. Damn that Wright!

"I'm sorry, I have to take this." He had actually no idea what he was apologizing for. In fact, he should have every right in the lawbook to click away the call, no excuses, and get to know the gender of his potential daughter or son. Wright knew Apollo had the day off and he had promised that during his day offs, he would keep their work out of their way and let them enjoy life as it was meant to be. Which meant; no cases, no light-castings on new leads in them, and he specifically promised not to interrupt them on their Ultrasound Day! Normally he wouldn't be this mad, just annoyed, but this was a special occasion and that hedgehog-haired lawyer was ruining it!

Despite these disruptions warped in mind, he left the room urgently, wanting this call to be over fast. Quick. Exactly, that would be the first thing he would say. Make it quick. Wright. Hurry up. Dammit. Start talking, I'm busy. You may be my boss, but you don't have the power to take my freetime, so cut to the chase. What do you want?

With these assertive words rewinding in his head, he clicked the green button and clenched the shell of their phone as if it was its fault, and almost shoved it into his ear.

"Apollo." Said person was so irritated that he disregarded his boss' serious tone completely.

"What, Wright?! What do you want? Okay, yeah, I may be overreacting but don't you blow this day for me! I'm about to know the gender of my child, and I don't give a flipping flapjack about no cases! You keep them in your head drawers until tomorrow, alright?" He didn't roar, but rather spoke threatingly and with a voice of stone. Didn't make it any less effective, but little did he know that it had no affect whatsoever at the moment.

"Apollo..." Apollo wanted to berate some more, but kept his tongue in check for unexplained reasons.

"Apollo." The boss repeated, a flat, sharp tone emitting his phone speakers. "We think...no, we know...we..." A pause, then when he collected the words, he got them out.

"Juniper...Juniper Woods...she...she has been kidnapped."

Apollo changed his mind immediately after that. Wright had every right to call him. He would later apologize for the things he thankfully never said out loud.

A/N: Yeah, that's all I got now. Dunno when next chapter will be out; as I said, I suck at staying true to my word, but I hope I will with this story. I really am putting my absolute best into it as a multpile chapter story (gee, look, I'm a qualified J.K. Rowling skilled author *sarcasm*).

I hope you stick around for whenever I will update again. We'll never know when it is...and I won't search up a fortune teller cause I don't trust them.
