She wants to meet us?" Olivia asked incredulously

"Yes"

"What do you mean she wants to meet us?"

"Well" Fitz smirked "I feel the meaning is quite clear. Chloe Elizabeth Reed, the child we conceived 16 years ago, would like to meet her biological parents."

Olivia just glared. "Now is not the time Fitz. And what I meant was does she want to us, Olivia Pope, and Fitzgerald Thomas Grant III, or does she want to meet us her unknown birth parents?"

Fitz stared for a moment before understanding what Olivia was trying to say. "She doesn't know who we are. If that's what you're wondering"

Olivia breathed a sigh of relief. "Good. Let's keep it that way"

"Excuse me?"

"You heard me. She can't meet us."

"Liv- Olivia" Fitz said noticing Olivia's glare "This is our child. We made a human being together, and you're telling me you don't want to know who she is? You don't want to know who she is? You don't want to know if she has my eyes, or your nose, or the color of her skin? You don't want to hear her voice, hear her laugh? You don't want to see her smile? We made this person, and you're not even the least bit curious?"

Olivia's face remained stony. "No"

"No?"

"No. Like you said we made her. But we didn't raise her. And of course I'm curious, but everything she is, the person she's become is not because of us. It's because of her parents. All we are to her are gene donors. And it wouldn't be good for any of us."

"What do you mean?"

"For her, it would just bring up questions. Why did we abandon her? Why didn't we want her? Was she a bad baby? Did my biological parents love me? Do you know how hard those would be to answer? We were giving her, her best chance. We did it out of love. And even though she's 15 by now, and understands it mentally, that doesn't mean she understands emotionally. Feelings of abandonment, and resentment will start to come up, and then it's just downhill from there. And it would ruin your election. You would be laughed out of Washington. A biracial child out of wedlock with someone who is significantly younger than you, who also happens to work on your campaign. My father made sure there was no paper trail, and only a select few know about her, but still. If people ask the right questions and you're seen with her, they're going to put two and two together. So no. We cannot meet her."

"What about you?"

"What?"

"What about you? You said it wouldn't be good for any of us. You've listed reasons for both Chloe, and me, but you have said nothing how this would be harmful to you in any way whatsoever. So tell me. What about you? Because I would be fine throwing it all away at a chance with her, and I have more to lose than you. So tell me Olivia, why aren't you willing to meet our child." His voice was getting louder now, and his face was turning red. Classic signs Olivia recognized as frustration.

"It doesn't matter"

"BULLSHIT IT DOESN'T MATTER" he was yelling now "THIS IS YOUR CHILD. AND YOU DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT HER. THIS IS YOUR DAUGHTER WE ARE TALKING ABOUT RIGHT NOW."

"YOU DON'T GET!" She screamed back, her voice cracking "YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND. I GET THAT YOU'RE HER FATHER, BUT I AM HER MOTHER. SHE WAS INSIDE ME FOR 9 MONTHS. I LOVE HER MORE THAN ANYTHING I'VE EVER KNOWN. I NAMED HER AFTER MY GRANDMOTHER FOR CHRISTS SAKE-"

"You named her" Fitz said quietly. Olivia just gave him a look. "Yes. We've established this already.

"No Olivia. You named her."

Olivia was getting agitated. Why did he keep bringing it up. "Yes. I named her. What does that have to do with anything?"

"You haven't said it."

"Said what?"

"Chloe's name. You always call her 'she' or 'her' but never Chloe."

Olivia sucked in a breath "and?"

"and you said something about names. Near the end."

Olivia looked away "I don't know what you're talking about"

"Yes you do."

**************Flashback**************

8 months into the pregnancy Fitz and Olivia were lying in bed. Talking about the baby.

"So what do you want to name it?" Fitz asked. Even if we're giving him up, that doesn't mean we don't have to name him."

"I don't" Olivia replied simply

"You don't what"

"I don't want to name him"

Fitz looked at Olivia astonished "Why don't you want to name him?"

"Names. They mean something. They aren't just what people call you. They're who you are. You are your name. Your name is a part of you, and it always will be a part of you, and at the same time, that name will always mean something to us. If we named him Sam, then every time heard that name I would think of the child we gave up. Every single time. I don't know about you, but I cant live like that. In a state of hurt and longing and regret. It'll be so much easier if we just let his parents name him. For both of us."

"Alright then." Fitz agreed. But deep down he had already had a name for his son. Or daughter, whichever it turned out to be. He named his first-born child, and no matter how hard he tried it wouldn't go away. So why fight it. That child would always be a part of him. And he wanted that part to have a name.

*2 weeks later*

Olivia woke up in the middle of the night to sharp pains. "Fitz" she whispered "Fitz wake up"

"Wha- what's wrong"

"I'm in labor"

Fitz sat bolt upright and looked at her "what do we do?" he asked dumbfounded

Olivia just stared at him agitated. "Well we should probably start by going to the hospital. You know. The place where babies are born."

"Right. Right. The hospital."

4 hours later Olivia was still in labor. The pain was like nothing she had ever felt before.

"Olivia I can see the head. I need you to push again."

"I cant." Olivia whimpered "It hurts"

"Olivia c'mon I need you to push"

"I cant" she cried

"Olivia look at me" Fitz said. Olivia just shook her head stubbornly "Olivia. Look. At. Me.". So she did.

"You are Olivia Pope" he began "You are the strongest person I have ever met. Just in the last year you almost died and so did this baby. You are doing what you know to be best, and giving this baby his best chance no matter how much it hurts you. And I don't think a little more pain is going to stop you. So be Olivia Pope. Be Olivia pope and push"

Olivia nodded. He was right. So she held on to Fitz's hand a little tighter and let out a guttural scream

"That's good Olivia. You're almost there. Just one more push" So Olivia took a deep breathe and pushed with everything she had. For the baby, for Fitz, for his new parents, for her, she pushed. And a few moments later she heard a strong cry. A few moments later the doctor handed Olivia her newborn and proudly pronounced "It's a girl "

Fitz laughed to himself and rested his head against Olivia's. "I was wrong," She said smiling, as tears streamed down her face.

"You were wrong" he whispered back to her, grinning. "Look at her though"

"She's beautiful." Olivia paused for a moment and thought "Chloe"

"What?"

"I want to name her Chloe. I just pushed this little creature out of my vagina, and it hurt like hell, so I am asserting my right to name this child, and I want to name her Chloe."

Fitz grinned. Olivia was back. His Spitfire of a girlfriend was back. "Chloe it is. What about the middle name?"

"Elizabeth. After your mom." She smiled softly, and Fitz found himself getting more choked up than he already was, if that was even possible.

"She would have liked that"

"Chloe was my grandmothers name" Olivia confessed. "I wanted her to have something special"

"That's beautiful Livvie"

"Like I said. Names mean something." She looked down and smiled softly, although she was still crying "and so does she."

**************End Flashback**************

"Say it" Fitz demanded

"Say what?"

"You know what. Say her name"

"No"

"No?" Fitz repeated in disbelief

"No" Olivia confirmed. "I haven't said that name in 15 years, and I'm not going to start anytime soon"

"Well, you're going to have to start." Fitz looked at his watch "in about 12 hours"

"Excuse me?"

"Chloe, Lisa, and Phil will be here tomorrow morning. I already told them we'd meet them."

"I'm not going" Olivia said stubbornly

"Yes you are."

"No I'm not."

"Yes you are" Fitz stood his ground "because if you don't all those feelings of abandonment you were talking about will be so much worse. Can you just imagine how she would feeling, knowing her mother doesn't want to meet her?"

"Screw you Fitz"

"Happily" he grinned

"Just get out!" she practically yelled pushing him out the door

"See you tomorrow Olivia. In the lobby at noon."

"Fine. Now please leave."

"Get excited. This is our daughter."

Olivia slammed the door and slid down it. She was actually going to meet her daughter. She never thought that day would come. And she was terrified.

A/N: So…. It's been a while *guilty look* and this time I honestly don't have an excuse. I just kinda got caught up in other stuff.. but hey. At least I did it. Right? Right? Anyways I promise I'll try to do better with updates. Also side note; I realize the timing is kind of off, actually scratch that a lot off, but all you need to know is they met 18 or 19 years ago, got pregnant 16 years ago, and had Chloe 15 years ago. So I'm really sorry about that.

*If you read any of my other stories updates for those should be out shortly as well.
