Hello! Anime0taku here, as you've probably guessed. Sorry for the slow update. A combination of school, homework, the lack of a laptop and the 30-minute time limit on the computer really slowed me down. Yeah. Sorry. Also, as of right now Bakura has the Eye, Yugi has the Necklace, and the Scales and Key are still being kept by the Ishtars. Well, here's the chapter you've been waiting for! Action!
Reina: Finally. Anyway, Anime owns nothing but the exact order of the words.
A0: Don't forget I own you!
Reina: I AM NOT A SLAVE!
A0: ...Just get in the story.
Chappie 6: Action! Edited
It had been a couple of days since the visit from Reina and the Item holders' impromptu meeting. Because Hogwarts' term didn't start until September first, Yugi still went to Domino High. It was a couple hours after school had gotten out and Yugi had fallen asleep at his desk doing homework. While Yugi snored lightly, Yami pondered the events of a couple of days ago.
Even after everyone had left, the ominous feeling had still hung in the air. Deciding that it could be ignored no longer and that they'd rather be safe than sorry, they had gone upstairs and packed an emergency backpack. It consisted of his extra Duel Monsters cards, the letters, the Millennium Necklace, and a couple changes of clothes. After everything was put into a small bag, the feeling had lessened. Only slightly, though.
Today it was back with full force. Yami sighed and started pacing. He was so restless, he couldn't help it. Unfortunately, some of that restlessness spread across his and Yugi's mind link, causing the shorter to stir.
:Yami?: He questioned drowsily. :Is everything alright?:
::I don't know, Yugi, something seems very wrong. I just can't help but think-:: Yami's sentence was cut short by the sound of several loud cracks coming from outside. Instantly Yugi was wide awake and Yami was over at the window looking at what had made the noise. Well, who had made the noise.
Who Yami was looking at didn't happen to be facing them, but was instead facing away from the house, arm raised. Yami instantly noted the wand in his hand. He would have to be careful. especially since they didn't look all that friendly. Masks and black robes didn't exactly scream 'friend.' Well, there was an example of the pot calling the kettle black.
As the stranger turned to face the window, Yami ducked down. He had just met someone who could see him. There might be others. It was then he noticed just how quiet everything was. Too quiet. Even the buzz of electricity had disappeared.
::Yugi.:: It was a simple statement, but Yugi understood completely. Thank the Gods Solomon was out shopping or this could have been a whole lot more messy. Quietly, Yugi grabbed the bag of his stuff along with his phone. He would need to call his grandpa and tell him to spend the night somewhere else for a couple of days.
It was then that the front door opened with a crash. The attack had started. Yami quickly took control and jumped out the open window. Thank the Gods again that they were too stupid to keep the house surrounded. They obviously didn't anticipate his innate sense of danger. Yami landed like a cat and raced away from the shop.
There was one problem, though. He was just across the street when Yugi's phone rang. Loudly. Masked faces turned to look at their target frozen in terror. Yami muttered a few choice words and sped off, hoping against hope they weren't used to their prey having a head start. Not to mention the skills of an ancient Egyptian Pharaoh. He took the most difficult and winding route through Domino he could think of. His advantage: he knew the terrain well, and often took this route to escape the fans. His pursuers' advantage: magic.
Having to dodge every which way because of all the oncoming spells made his attempt at losing them much harder than it should have been. Luckily, the wizards were out of practice, (flabby, as Bakura would say,) and he managed to get far enough ahead so that he could hide. Yugi's phone beeped to alert him he had a voicemail, and Yami cringed. He glanced around but nobody was around to hear it.
:Let's check it.:Yugi said. :Who knows, it might be important.: Yami agreed and pulled the phone out from his pocket. The message was from a TKB.
::Oh, Bakura. you couldn't have had better timing, could you?:: Yami sighed but pressed play and held the device up to his ear.
"Yugi. Based on our circumstances I bet you have the same problem I do. The Keeper and I are headed to the Park. It's safe there." The recording of Bakura's voice ended abruptly. He had obviously been a hurry just as Yugi and Yami had. Still, his messages weren't usually this obvious. What was he hiding?
:There's no time to try and analyze the message for hidden meanings. Let's go.: Yugi's voice shook him out of his thoughts.
::Aibou, you're right. Let's go.:: Not a word more was spoken by either of them as they raced to Domino Park. When they arrived, they saw Malik, Bakura, and Reina standing near a large tree. Wait...what was Reina doing there?!
Reina turned as she heard Yami's feet pounding on the cement sidewalk. "Good. you're here." she sighed in obvious relief. "I sent Nymphadora off to go grab some others, since I absolutely cannot perform side-along apparition with three of you." None of the three decided to question who Nymphadora was or what apparition did. If it was an ally and a way to get out of there, they'd gladly take it. Then Yami was struck with a horrible thought.
"Bakura, Malik." The two turned their heads to Yami. "Do you have the items we discussed earlier this week?" Bakura replied with a "Both." while Malik simply nodded.
Yami sighed gratefully. "Decks?" Another pair of nods. "Good." Reina was obviously confused at their conversation but kept it to herself.
Bakura's head whipped around to the right. "Someone's coming." he muttered. "Someone I haven't met before. I can't tell if they're friend or foe." Nymphadora Tonks strode into their line of view from behind the tree as if on cue. Remus Lupin and Alastor Moody followed.
"Ah, here you are!" cried Reina, more relief flooding her face. "Thanks for coming. I don't know if I could have done it myself."
"No problem, Reina." Yami glanced over to the shabby-looking man as he spoke. "The least we can do."
The second man spoke up. "Are you sure they're not spies? You can never be too careful." His electric blue false eye seemed entranced by the Millennium Puzzle. Without warning, he let out a curse. "Not again! The thing is stuck! Ever since that impostor wore it it's been acting up." He then reached up to mess with the fake eye.
"Mad-Eye!" the woman called Nymphadora cried. "Not now! Besides, if they were spies for You-Know-Who, why would they be attacked by Death Eaters? We need to leave!"
Bakura tensed. "I agree. People are coming closer, and fast." Nobody decided to question how he knew that.
"Right. You three! Grab onto someone's arm now. We need to go." Bakura, Yami, and Malik grabbed on without hesitation. Only one thought passed through Yami's mind before they apparated: What in the world have we gotten ourselves into?
And there you go. Plot progression! Yay! Review! I did this all for you in one day. I was planning on doing more, but it's 10:30 and I wanna sleep. I've been running on less sleep for a while now and I'm tired. Here's the credit for the reviewers for chapter 5:
