Don't you just love baby angels? I know I do!

Flying Lessons

The young boy clutched at his older brother's hand in fear, who tutted and rolled his eyes.

"C'mon Cassie, you need to learn to fly. It's fundamental, little brother. It's not scary, I promise."

The fledgling looked up at the fair-haired angel with doleful blue eyes.

"But Balthazar I-"

"No buts, Castiel. Buts are for sitting."

"Balthazar!" the young angel whined, "I don't wanna!"

"Cassie, you're five centuries old and you need to learn! Look at brother Radstiel, he's not even three centuries yet, and he's flying already!"

"That's because brother Lucifer just threw him off a cliff last week and hoped for the best!"

Balthazar sighed. Fledglings! Ugh!

"What's going on over here?" said a voice from behind.

"Ah, Luci," Balthazar began, pulling the child out from behind him, "Castiel here refuses to learn to fly."

"Oh really now?" Lucifer stooped down to Castiel's eye level, "Caaaaassiiiiiiiie...you know you have to, right? I mean, imagine being all grown up like Balthazar and I, and not being able to fly...wouldn't you be embarrassed?"

Castiel shook his head stubbornly.

"No! I don't care about flying!"

Castiel pulled his hand from Balthazar's and made a break for it. Lucifer caught him by the wrist.

"Now just where do you think you're going, young man?"

The fledgling struggled, attempting to break away from Lucifer's vice-like grip.

"Let go, let go!" he wailed.

Lucifer lifted the wailing child and threw him over one shoulder. Castiel beat Lucifer's back with his tiny fists.

"Come on, Cassie, let's teach you how to fly!"

The dark-haired boy screamed and yelled as they approached the cliff edge.

"Right! On Three!" Lucifer held Castiel in front of him, right over the ledge.

The young angel glanced down, and his eyes shot right back up to the face of his older brother. He pleaded.

"No Lucifer, please no!" he cried.

"Here we go...THREE!" Lucifer thrust his arms forward and threw little Castiel off the cliff. He cackled as the fledgling attempted to flap his wings.

"Hold them out flat Cassie!" he advised.

Castiel straightened out his wings.

"Now lean forward!"

He flattened himself out, and glided to a lower ledge across the gorge. The young angel fell to his knees as soon as he landed. Lucifer and Balthazar were by his side in an instant. Balthazar scooped the fledgling into his arms.

"You did it, Cassie, you did it!"

The child whimpered, burying his face in the crook of his older brother's neck.

"I never wanna do that again," he sobbed.

Lucifer barked out a laugh, pulling his baby brother from his other baby brother.

"Too bad!"

And so, once more, he chucked Castiel off the ledge.
