Hello guys and welcome back to another addition of One Way Ticket with me, Kayori~ ;D
... Sorry. I think I've been watching a little too much Capndesdes on Youtube. LOOL
So while I was at work thinking of other things than rather what I should have been concentrating on, I decided that I will be twisting some of this story around. There's been too many stories that follow the FMA story to a T, so Imma drift off somewhere on my own for a while. ;)
Also, as I said I would ages ago, I'm going to start editing this entire story. I decided to change up my writing style a little some Imma modify some chiz. Nothing big, just structure mostly. You guys won't be missing anything serious. Maybe a word changed here and there, if that.
Oh, and don't worry, Greed and Xya will eventually meet back up, but until then... BAHAHA! :D
Chapter 8; Falling Into Place
"Where are we exactly?"
"You asked to see what I was talking about babe, so here we are."
I grimaced. "You think instead of being allowed to call me beautiful that I would accept that?"
There was a dark chuckle that echoed in the back of my mind. "Nah, I'm just fuckin' with ya. In all seriousness though, this is it. The old pub I used to manage."
I stared up at the worn building with a sign that would have said "The Devil's Nest" at one point had the elements been more kind to it. Proper tending and repairs would have also done some good for the entire building. The windows and door were nailed shut with pieces of plywood with warning signs plastered in several places.
My eyes continued to travel across the entire building before a sigh escaped my lips. "Tell me again why I let you talk me into coming here?" I ran my fingers through my hair gently and closed my eyes, the other hand coming to rest on my hip. "Seriously. I thought you said that you lost all your old erm... possessions, so why would you want to be here of all places? Don't you think me walking in there wouldn't bring back old memories?"
"That's the reason I asked you to bring me here, doll face." Greed's voice changed. It was more uneven and filled with an emotion I couldn't place yet. "Just do this for me, will ya?"
"Fine." I muttered and began walking forward. "But if I get in trouble for breaking and entering, I'll find some way to kick your ass, understood?"
I could almost picture that twisted, devilishly sly grin spreading across his face at my words.
"Got it-"
"Good-"
"Beautiful."
"ARG! Enough with the endearments already!"
Several people slowly walked passed me as I continued to talk to Greed, only the bystanders were completely unaware of my internal companion.
... I must have looked rather funny, that's for sure.
Well, it's a good thing I don't really have any shame left, or else this would be extremely awkward and embarrassing.
Before anything else could be said or any more concerned looks could be cast on me, I quickly rushed around the back of the pub and found another door that was sealed with plywood. When I walked over and reached up, I gripped one of the few boards and gave it a good tug before it easily pulled out of the frame and onto the ground.
I blinked and stared at the board. "Well... Guess they didn't fortify this place very good, huh?"
I could hear Greed chuckle once more. "Nah. They wouldn't have to. I'm a legend in these parts. With being a legend, comes the fear that you give to your enemies. Trust me, I really don't think anyone would be stupid enough to enter my bar."
"Even if it's dusty and inhabited?" I blanched.
"I suppose so."
I glared. "You suppose so? What the hell is that supposed to mean!"
"Just what I said, doll."
"Don't call me doll!" I glared and proceeded to aggressively pull the remaining boards off the frame. "Why must you be so infuriating?"
"Well, for one, it's fun to get you all flustered and bothered like that. You make it too easy."
Deciding to bite back the reply that dangled off the tip of my tongue, I grasped the doorknob and managed to twist it enough times to open the door without breaking the handle itself.
"They didn't even lock this place before boarding it up? Jeez, you must have really left an impression, Greed."
"You could say that."
I took in the surroundings and felt a few nostalgic feelings wash over me, and soon realized they belonged to none other than Greed himself.
Aside from the inch-thick dust lining the entire area, the entire inside had been left untouched. Furniture was still placed where it had been the last night, and glasses that were cleaned and ready for serving still sat ready and waiting on at the bar. The red velvet carpets under two large leather sofas facing one another with a small, black glass-top coffee table caught my attention and soon my feet carried me over to them. I timidly reached down and ran my fingers over the still smooth material before pulling away and gently rubbing my hand against the fabric of my pants.
"Man." I took one more look around before exhaling deeply. "This place must have been rather homey in it's full glory."
"It was meant to be a place to sit around and drink rather than to be a place where men came to find entertainment. Hell, the woman I had working the bar would have sliced a guys throat rather than let some idiot slap her ass or make demands. You could say she kind of ruled the roost, aside from me of course."
I felt my lips tug into a small grin. "How thoughtful of you."
"This was the main floor and lounge area. Where you're standing right now is where I usually sat the entire night just drinking. I usually had a couple female companions to keep me company, as well."
My eyes returned to the couches and I gave a small nod with a grimace at the sudden memory from Greed's past that flickered through my mind. "Didn't you need sleep?"
"The rooms are upstairs." Greed paused before continuing. "Take a peak if you're curious enough."
I gave a small shrug of my shoulders before following Greed's directions to the main stairwell. I passed a couple of doors on my way down a short hall, being told that one lead to where the extra liquor was locked up and the other led to the basement compartment.
Once we were up the stairs, I blinked at how simple the floor plan was. Three doors lined the left side of the wall while the right side had only two doors. At the very end of the hallway, there was another door that had a little more detailing than the rest.
"I assume that the room at the very end of the hall belongs to you?"
Again, I could almost picture that infamous smirk of his plastered on his face. "Of course. Why not go take a look there first? Not much to see in the other rooms except a simple bed and maybe a dresser."
"Why were you allowed all the finer things and not anyone else?" My eyebrow rose. "I thought someone like you would want to keep your people happy?"
"And what exactly is it that makes you think that they weren't?" Greed quipped. "Not everyone needs materialist things to keep them happy."
"True, I guess." My feet began walking forward on their own accord down the hall towards the room. "That excludes you though, I'm sure."
"But of course. I wouldn't be Greed if I was satisfied that easily."
I rolled my eyes. "Yes, heaven forbid something simple be enough to slake your greed."
There was a scoff that echoed in the back of my mind but no retort followed shortly after.
When I reached the door I stood in front of it awkwardly, reaching for the handle slowly as if expecting someone to be on the other side of it doing something inappropriate.
"What's the matter, doll?" Greed teased. "Afraid of stepping into a mans bedroom?"
My temper flared. "No!"
With that, I pushed myself through the door and stopped only when I reached the middle of the room.
"W-Wow... Uh..." My face burned. "Interesting decor?"
The room itself was large and spacious. The detailing was all dark and would have added a mysterious flavor to any other who had not been acquainted with Greed or knew his character like I did. What looked like silk sheets lay undisturbed on the mattress with a large amount of pillows occupying the very head of the bed. Like the rest of the room, the bedding was dark and would have been pitch black had it not been for the thick layer of dust covering it.
"Not bad, not bad." I continued to look around and eventually walked over to the closet opening it enough to peek in.
"Why did you have a room if all you did was sit down on a couch all night?" I blurted out randomly, pulling back away from the closet and slowly continued my search around the room.
Greed chuckled. "Are you really so naive that I have to answer that?"
I blushed, immediately catching onto the underlying hint to his words. "No, maybe not."
"You know you're awful cute when you-"
"Would you two stop flirting already? Some of us don't want to see that."
My eyes closed involuntarily and suddenly I was pulled into the depths of my mind to the spot where I was once before, when the seven were forced into my body. There I was, floating in an abyss of red souls with seven distinct faces staring back at me.
To my shock, the seven sins stood before me in the form of their outside bodies. Wrath as the Fuhrer King Bradly himself, Lust as a beautiful and tall woman with long hair reaching far passed her back with a rather racy dress, Gluttony as the short and plump individual, Pride as a young child around the age of seven who I knew to be Salim Bradly and the giant man with bulging muscles who I had not seen before known as Sloth.
My eyes crossed the unfamiliar face of a tall man with a sleeves vest that had a sort of thick, white fur lining the collar. He had a pair of sunglasses on and was dressed in what looked like leather. His hair was short and spiked sharp enough to match the shark teeth that lined his mouth as he smirked towards my confused self.
"If you and Greed are done your little lovey-dovey session, I think the rest of us would like to proceed with the plan if you don't mind." Envy crossed his arms over his chest as he narrowed his eyes in distaste.
Greed's eyes snapped towards the homunculus and a large smirk spread across his face. "Why? You jealous that our pretty little host likes spending time with me rather than a whiny piece of garbage like you?"
Envy's temper flared. "Why you-!"
"Guys!" I yelled. "Can I ask what the hell is going on? How the hell are you all here?! I thought you were all just floating... faces or something? Not full-bodied people in my mind!"
Lust grinned and looked aside before facing me fully. "It would see that we are able to conjure our current forms in your mind."
"That can't be true," I paused and pointed at Greed. "Because the Greed I know doesn't look like that guy. He's sharing a body with Ling Yao."
"We were all put into your body while holding these forms." Wrath looked at me, his visible eye hard and cold. "You and that brat were turned into homunculi at the same time, so it shouldn't be of any shock to you that you see the old Greed instead of the image of your friend."
"Can we please get on with this?!" Envy yelled, clearly enraged by the attention being averted elsewhere other than the topic he wished to continue.
Gluttony looked at Envy and then to me, his finger poking into his mouth as he nibbled on the tip of it. Lust stood beside him and crossed her arms under her bust, her hip pushing out to the side making her stance more saucy but more relaxed. Wrath and Pride remained still and merely watched in silence. Sloth looked around, completely uninterested with the events unfolding as of now.
Greed's smirk visibly widened at Envy's outburst. "Calm down kid. Jeez, didn't you ever hear the saying 'all good things come to those who wait'?"
Envy, having been already burning under that temper of his, clenched his fists tightly before flying forward. Greed was clearly amused by this and welcomed the attack with open arms, using his ability to harden the carbon in his arm and slashed his now clawed hand to the side in order to fend of Envy's kick to the head.
The other five watched the two brawling with a bored sneer, clearly uninterested in the little scrap Envy started.
"Honestly boys," Lust sighed. "Must you two always act like children when you both are together?"
Gluttony watched as he continued to nibble on his finger. "Lust, I'm hungry! When can I have something to eat?"
"Patience, Gluttony."
I watched Greed and Envy fight and couldn't muster up the words to yell at them to stop, even as Wrath made his way over to me and stood by my side.
"I find it highly amusing you would allow such antics to unfold in your own subconscious mind." His voice was the distinct monotone that he as King Bradly had been known for. "Even as one of us, you're sitting by idly like a human would."
I narrowed my eyes up at him. "Don't judge humans so quickly, Wrath. You may find yourself surprised one day by them."
"You don't consider yourself one of them anymore?" Wrath's uncovered eye flickered over to me.
I frowned and looked back to Greed and Envy as they continued to fight. "I thought about it during the long trek down in the tunnels with Greed," I paused and inhaled deeply. "But I realized that wishing for what could never be given back to me was futile. I guess you could say that I accepted my fate."
Wrath seemed somewhat amused by my statement but made no pompous or ignorant response as I believed he would.
Suddenly Envy's body came hurdling passed me and I looked from him to Greed, who was smiling innocently but his eyes twinkled with mischief.
"Can we just all please get along while you're all inside of me?" I sighed deeply.
Greed's smirk widened. "All inside of me? Hmm, that doesn't sound like a bad idea."
"THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEANT!" I felt my cheeks burn.
A devious chuckle escaped his lips. "I know doll, I'm just teasing. Jeez, lighten up."
Envy stalked forward angrily, his shoulders tensed and his posture rigid. Had it not been for the hand I reached to grab him by the arm, he would have lunged once more at Greed.
"Okay, enough of the sibling rivalry." I tried to sound calm, despite the fact that I was now holding onto a very angry homunculus. "Lets just all calm down–"
Envy shot back and snarled at me. "Let me go now you wench!"
I felt my eye twitch. "Wench? Did you just call me a wench?"
"I'll say it again!" Envy narrowed his eyes dangerously at me. "Let me go you wench!"
Oh, now it's personal.
With all the strength I could muster, I hauled back and slammed Envy in the jaw. The impact managed to send him hurdling even farther back than Greed's kicks.
Greed whistled. "Damn. Girl's got one hell of a right hook."
I watched as Envy slowly pushed himself off the ground; the side of his jaw that I'd managed to knock out of place cackling with a violet red electricity as his body healed itself.
"Now I'll say it again." I mocked Envy as I placed both hands on my hips giving him a searing look. "Calm down! Stop acting like an idiot and listen to what I have to say! Aren't you the one who wanted to talk strategy anyway?"
Envy muttered something to himself before finally getting to his feet. "Yeah, whatever. Just know that I'd never listen to you if I had a choice."
"Your words flatter me so deeply." I rolled my eyes before looking around the room. "Alright then, anyone else want to voice their opinion?" My eyes returning to Envy once more as if to make a point. "Can we all behave like adults here?"
Envy snarled once more, but there was no other response from any of the others.
Pride looked up at me with the huge eyes of an innocent boy. "Yes, let us finally hear what devious little scheme you've come up with to kill Father once and for all."
I hesitated. "You're sure your other selves won't hear this or know what will be said?"
"I can guarantee it."
Muahaha, yet another cliffy! I just keep pulling these outta my ass recently, so please believe me when I say they're completely unintentional.
Sorry it wasn't that long. Next update will be though, as we'll get to see both Xya and our lovely Greed. Also, I had an anonymous user ask me when we would see a little more of Xya's past, mainly the parts concerning her and Edward. No worries, it'll come in time. ;)
I don't really have that much to say to you guys tonight due to being super tired and trying to multitask at typing this and playing Final Fantasy 9. LOOL
I love you guys so very much! Every notification I get or every read my story gets makes me so happy to think that I wrote something at least a few of you enjoy!
Tataa for now~ :D
