Chapter Thirty: Home Is Where the Heart Is
I worked third shift at an all night diner
Only stayed to save a little money for
Enough gas to make it to the East coast
That's when I saw the brightest pair of
Deep blue eyes walking straight into my life
And every night we talked till it became so clear
And I could feel those dreams inside shifting gears
Cause love brought me here
Mama said home is where the heart is when I left that town
I made it all the way to West Virginia and that's when my heart found
Exactly where I'm supposed to be, it didn't take much time
It's just south of the Mason-Dixon Line

Two Weeks Later
"Fitz," Senator Reid shook his hand, "you've done well. We can't thank you enough for your service in all of this."
Fitz shrugged, "It wasn't just me, Senator. I had a whole team helping with this. We all just wanted to see an organization like this run the right way."
"Well, if you play your cards right this could be the jumping off point for something more." Reid nudged his arm lightly, "Like a seat on the Supreme Court."
Fitz blushed and looked down, "Hopefully one day. That's not why I did this though."
"I know why you did this." Reid shook his head, "You did this to protect your girl."
"I did this to protect my family." Fitz amended.
Three Months Later
Olivia let out a long peal of laughter as she tossed her black cap in the air. They did it. They actually did it. They were finished with law school. For good. And Abby had graduate the weekend before and Huck the weekend before her. It was amazing. They were all done. No more school. They were joining the real world. Finally.
Olivia's eyes skimmed the throng of graduates around her, looking for Harrison, David and Quinn. She tugged at the neckline of the black gown, anxious to get outside and have Fitz take it off of her.
SCANDAL
"Livie!" Olivia spun at the sound of her name.
"Fitz!" She grinned, doing her best not to trip over her heels as she sprinted towards him, "I'm done!"
"You are!" He pressed a kiss to her temple.
A few minutes later they were surrounded by the rest of their friends. "We did it." Harrison shook his head, and Quinn, Huck, Cyrus, Fitz, Olivia and Caroline (who he'd forgiven and was slowly working things out with), knew exactly what he meant.
SCANDAL
Six Months Later
Olivia glanced up at the Christmas tree with a sigh, "It's always so beautiful." She smiled and tugged on Fitz's hand.
He glanced down at her, "I know. Can you believe that a year ago we were standing here on our first date? Look at everything that's happened since then."
Olivia's grin widened, "We're standing in the sun."
"We are. And we will be for the rest of our lives." He dropped her hand and stepped back.
"Fitz? What's going on?" She asked.
"Olivia Carolyn Pope," He dropped to his knee, "I love you. I think I loved you from the moment I met you. You're an amazing person and I don't know how or why you decided to love me and let me love you, but I'm so thankful for that. You've blessed me with this life I didn't even know I could have. I want to spend the rest of my life loving you and showing you just how grateful I am to have you as a partner." He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a small velvet box, "Livie, will you marry me?"
Olivia smiled softly and dropped to her knees in front of him, "Yes, Fitz. Of course I'll marry you." She pulled him into a hug, nearly collapsing back onto the snowy ground. "We really have been to hell and back." She murmured.
"But now we're standing in the sun together." He whispered, pressing a kiss to her temple.
"Forever." She whispered.
