Chapter 8

Sam

On his own, Sam walked down a large set of steep steps until he was at the base of Cersei's tower where she had taken residence. Cersei had commanded guards to watch over him twenty four hours a day because of Dean. He had denied Sam's offer and decided to stay with Robb Stark. His decision had infuriated him but without being able to send Dean a letter he was unable to reason with him. Sam wondered to himself what sob story Catelyn Stark had given to him. Whatever it was, Dean believed it enough to declare war on his own brother. Sam wondered what his father would make of this, two brothers at war because of where they had first appeared. Picturing his fathers face he imagined that he would have a face matching his fury. Shaking the image from the for front of his mind he continued down the stairs.

Cersei had called of her guards so he could conduct an investigation into an alleged leak from one of her handmaids. By accident, Cersei had mentioned her affair with Jamie to another Lady of a smaller house, one she assured Sam she could trust, then people started to question her. She had the Lady tortured and she swore she had told no one. Then Cersei remembered, to her horror, the handmaid was preparing a special dress for her to wear later in the day. After she raked her brain to remember which one it was she then told Sam she could not remember and that left Sam the job of questioning all thirty two handmaids Cersei recently had in her service. It was going to be a long and enduring task he didn't want to do. She had even told him to use necessary force such as torture. If Sam was right then he knew who he needed to go to first.

When Sam reached the bottom of the staircase he was met with a large wooden door. It was an oak door with metal studs holding iron bars attached to the wall. As flimsy as it looked around its iron bars, Sam knew the Targaryen's would have some support to unsure that during a siege it would withstand a ram. Grabbing hold of its iron handle, he forced it away from the wall. Sam was still getting used to weight of objects around the castle such as doors, it was a task he hated and endured everyday from the moment he woke until the moment he slept. Going into the dead of night Sam was stopped by the guards at the door. One was from the kingsguard, covered from head to toe in white while the other was a lannister man. His armour was the colour of blood but had grey, silver outline around each plate.

The Kingsguard spoke first, his hand was placed firmly on the hilt of his sword to show that if he had to use his sword that he wouldn't hesitate to use it. "Where are your guards Sam?" He had a thick broad northern accent but Sam could remember which guard was which so he pushed it out of his mind.

"Cersei discharged them after she found out I'm not a leak and she needn't worry about me any more. I'm not a traitor." He spoke as he passed over the piece of paper with Cersei's royal stamp on the front.

Quickly, he skimmed over it, when he was done he passed it back to Sam. Smiling a thick white toothed smile he spoke in a tone laced with sarcasm. "So you're a free man. What's your first visit, the whore house?" He gave a short laugh.

Sam frowned at the man. "You should know I do not visit those place and nor should you. One day your lord commander will find out and punish you." Finally, Sam finished up with a smile on his face. All of the Kingsguard visited the whore house at some point or other so Sam didn't need to remember his name to threaten him. Walking passed them he shot a small glimpse into what he was up to so they would report back to Cersei that he was on task. "I've got a leak to find and it starts with a woman."

Both men grunted a response but Sam was well on his way to the other side of the Redkeep. He was headed to the stables so he could find a certain woman. She had hair that when the pins were taken out would fall just short of her bottom in thick brown curls. Sam wanted to run his hands through her hair so much he had to hold them still whenever he was close to her. Her eyes were a colour of brown honey he adored and often had to drag his gaze away from them just not to creep her out. It didn't stop there. Sam was forming an obsession with her, one he could not afford. Her face was a picture of beauty, smooth skin and soft curves. Shaking his head of an image he was soon to form of the rest of her body (not clothed at that, yet again), he pushed the make shift door to the stable. There were several people in the stables so Sam decided to choose the closest one to him. It was a young boy who was grooming a horse.

"Excuse me young fellow, I have a question for you." Nodding as he turned to Sam he agreed to answer. "I was wondering if you could tell me where a woman called Kaede is?" The young boy looked slightly confused before his face lit up and he ran in the opposite direction. Sam waited a couple of minutes and then felt someone tap on his shoulder. Sam spun around on his heal ready to face whoever it was. Standing before him with her hair pinned high was Kaede. She wore an orange dress which emphasised her breast size and Sam quickly averted his gaze.

"I need your help." Sam started but was quickly distracted by the boy who he'd asked to find Kaede. He was holding his hand out, palm side up which was indicating he expected payment for his task. Sometimes Sam would forgot that this was how KingsLanding worked, you had to pay everyone for the slightest task and couldn't ask a simple favour. He couldn't disagree with it as this was there way of surviving. Placing a silver coin from his pocket in to his had he watch him scuttle away to continue his other tasks. Turning back to Kaede he saw she had a smile on her face. "What?" He asked her in a annoyed tone.

Giving a short laugh she answered him. "It's obvious your not from here. Most lords would have hit him and sent him running before giving him a silver. Maybe I should stay on your good side." She laughed again but notice Sam was being serious. "Tell me what you want because I have to get back to running errands for my new Lady. She's a tough one and I'd rather keep my head."

He looked at her with a grim expression. "I'm here under Queen's orders Kaede. Someone's telling her secrets and she wants me to find out who it is. I'll ask you first. was it you?" She shook her head and frowned at Sam. "Good, now tell me who it is. I know you have command over them, no matter what the queen likes to think. You tell them which lady the will be serving each day." Kaede gave a look of shock which she quickly tried to hide. "Varys told me."

"I will tell you only if you agree to my terms." Sam nodded his head. "Have sex with me Sam."
