Disclaimer: not mine

The first year of the Academy was as exciting as one would have thought. What could I expect, seeing as we were all kindergarten age? I mean, the beginning of the year was nice because I got to meet the entire rookie 9 and adjust to school life, but that soon got old. Most of what we learned I had already read about in the library, and it took a lot of effort to keep Naruto restrained during class time. However, there was an upside to attending the academy- now that I was a bona fide student, I could access more books. I sucked them up, and sometimes ended up sneaking them into class to read.

My fondest memories include meeting the rest of the kids for the first time. After the whole banana fiasco I went out for recess and ran around meeting my idols.

I checked in with Tenten and Lee, updated them on the banana thing, and left them in peels (hahahaha) of laughter.

"Sakura-chan and Ino-chan!" I squealed running up to them. I held them both close, while they tried to break free of my grasp. "You are BEAUTIFUL young ladies who don't need no man and should cherish each other."

"If you don't let me go I'll scream," Ino said, pinching my arm as hard as she could.

Naruto and Kiba were off playing and being hyperactive together, along with other classmates who were desperately trying to keep up with them.

"Naruto!" I shouted.

"Amy!" He screamed back.

"Kiba!" Kiba screamed.

"My son! It's been so long!" I hugged him

"Look I got a dog," He said, holding up a dog. "This is Akamaru"

I shrieked and started to fawn over the puppy.

Choji and Shikamaru were lying on their backs and watching the clouds.

"YOU TWO!" I shouted at them after sneaking up.

They both screamed and shot up.

"You two are wonderful and I want you to stay friends forever, my loves!" I hugged both of them and ran off.

Shino was sitting by himself when I dumped a giant stinkbug on his lap.

"… Thank you." He said sincerely.

"I love you," I said just as sincerely, then hugged him.

Hinata squealed when I hugged her.

"I LOVE YOU DON'T BE AFRAID TO BE LOUD YOU GOT THIS GIRLFRIEND YOU ARE SO STRONG AND CAN DO ANYTHING JUST BELIEVE IN YOURSELF LIKE I BELIEVE IN YOU OKAY" I screamed in her face.

I then ran away. I had to be quick because I wasn't sure if I allowed to talk to her after the whole Hyuga affair.

I ran up to Neji, then burst into anime tears.

I grabbed him.

"Neji noo baby I promise to protect you no matter what I love you so much okay you're safe now," I rambled.

I held him until he gentle fisted my arm and stalked away

I approached Sasuke as quietly and as sneakily as I could.

Then I pounced on him, and he let out the highest shriek I heard that day.

"Hello everything is all right now," I whispered, stroking his hair. After a good minute I let him go and he backed away, looking wary. Once he reached 10 feet away from me he turned around and ran.

I sighed in contentment. I had successfully loved each and every one of them

Eventually, the kids forgave me and allowed me to be their friend. I loved it. Even though I sometimes had some issues with the intellectual level of my fellow classmates. They were all extremely, extremely smart for 6 year olds, but sometimes my way of talking didn't make sense to them. Most of the time, I had to fall back on autopilot and let the child inside of me come out. Even if I didn't understand them, I could just step back and marvel at how cute they were.

To my delight, after a couple weeks we finally started to learn basic taijutsu stances. Of course, it was disguised as a game when it was first introduced, but when it was over and time for lunch I stayed after with Iruka and Mizuki to go over them. They seemed pretty surprised that I would voluntarily try to learn more, but knew that I was pretty driven. I'm sure that Iruka had caught me reading during class, but left me alone because I fared well on tests. But having katas and stances to practice were a blessing. If I got bored of reading, then I could go and do some physical work. I practiced them religiously.

Speaking of our instructors, Iruka warmed up considerably to Naruto after our little chat, and I was hoping to see them at the ramen stand soon. Mizuki was a little bitch and I really didn't give him the time of day. If he stayed away from Naruto, then I was fine. I didn't want to think about the future too hard, because I generally wanted to keep the timeline the same. I knew that Naruto had to go through the whole scroll-stealing fiasco in order to figure out who he was and learn the kage bunshin. Believe me, I'd have liked to make his experience different but I couldn't make a peep about the kyuubi.

One day I was playing tag with Tenten and Lee, when Naruto came running up.

"I hate that guy so much!" He yelled stamping his feet on the ground. "He thinks he's soo good at everything, but he's just full of it."

"Who?" Said Tenten and Lee at the same time as I said "Yeah, Akamaru sure is a little shit."

"What? No!" Naruto said to me, scandalized. "I love Akamaru! He's great!"

To the other two he said, "Sasuke! He's such a bastard!"

And thus the epic rivalry was born.

About a month into school I walked over to Tenten and Lee, when I immediately knew something was wrong.

"What's up?" I said, as I sat down. They were just sitting there, which was strange. Usually, they would be running around with the other kids.

"Um, well…" Tenten began, but trailed off as she looked at Lee. "We were starting chakra exercises, and uh, we were trying to balance leaves on our heads, which was pretty hard to begin with but we couldn't really angle our heads at all, and well, after we became good enough at that we started to learn the three basic ninjutsu, and they're really hard, so yeah, and -"

Lee cut her off. "I can't use ninjutsu."

My eyes widened.

He continued. "I went to get examined and they said that my chakra coils are undeveloped. I can't be a ninja." He drooped. He was much, much sadder than that time that I approached him in the orphanage.

It just wasn't right to see him this sad.

"Listen, Lee," I said. "Even if you can't use ninjutsu that doesn't mean that you can't be a ninja. Wasn't Tenten saying just yesterday that you're one of the top in your class for taijutsu?"

"I'm not even at the top of the class. Neji is."

"You can surpass him if you work hard!"

"But he can do jutsu."

"That doesn't matter."

"Ninjutsu's so important though, it's half of what being a ninja is."

"Fuck ninjutsu!" I told him. He flinched when I swore. "You make taijutsu all of what being a ninja is! I know you can do it, because you're one of the coolest, most youthful person I've ever met!"

Lee took a deep breath. He let my words set in, and then nodded. "You're right, Amy. I will try to become a ninja by taijutsu alone!"

At this, Naruto ran up belatedly, screaming for us to play with him. While we were on our way to the playground, he stopped.

"Lee, I made you this." He handed Lee a block of misshapen green clay, which I assumed to be Lee. "Your outfit is the coolest!"

Lee's eyes watered a little bit and he smiled. "Thanks, Naruto."

"What's that?" I asked Naruto one day as we were walking back from school.

"Oh this is gama-chan. Jiji gave him to me." He showed me the frog wallet. "I put money in gama-chan and he holds it for me!"

"Oh my god," I said, then ran off to the hot springs.

Somewhere in the back of my mind, I knew that Jiraiya was my only hope. The only accessible fuinjutsu master, I would have to go to him to help me with my seal. I knew that the hokage was an expert in seals, but he was the farthest thing from accessible. He was just too busy for me. I would try to tag along with Naruto when he visited the old man, but it never worked out.

"Where are we going?" Naruto asked, running besides me.

I shrieked, emerging from my thoughts.

"Oh, hi. The hot springs," It dawned on me that if I were able to catch Jiraiya, it would be good if Naruto were there too. He needed to meet his godfather. "If we find anyone there, try to talk with them." I hoped that he understood what I said, as vague as it was. But by this time, Naruto was proficient in understanding my cryptic language when trying to work around my seal.

We rocketed down the roads, stamina at peak condition (for 6 year olds) and got to the springs in record time.

My breath caught in my throat. It was him! A mass of white hair stuck to the fence like glue, making giggly sounds. It may not have been an impressive sight, but to me it was like the second coming of the messiah.

I tried to conjure some chakra to the seal on my neck, when my heart lurched. I froze.

I couldn't do it.

I couldn't even move my body.

Fuck! I thought, almost about to cry. Here was my chance, my only chance right now, and I couldn't even show him the seal.

"What's happening?" Naruto asked me, questioning my rigid stance.

I finally got back to normal. "Nothing," I murmured. "Let's go meet the perv."

Jiraiya was very underwhelming, but he was my only hope. But right now, I was focused on getting Naruto his godfather.

"What?! Don't you know who you're speaking to?" He said, surprised at our disrespect, and probably a little pissed that we had brazenly walked up to him while he was peeping.

"No?"

"I am Mount Myoboku-Gama's Holy Master Sennin, Jiraiya-sama, also known as the Toad Mountain Sage!" He pronounced, pose and all.

"Mountain sage?" Naruto said.

"Who cares?" I said.

"What?! You brats need to learn some respect!" He said, completely forgetting that he didn't want to be found out.

"Yeah well, don't you know who he is?" I pointed to Naruto.

"Don't you know who she is?" Naruto pointed at me. I loved that boy. Many times he would just repeat what I said, following along with all my plans. He knew me too well.

Jiraiya's eyes flared with recognition for Naruto, but he said, "No, and I don't care."

That got me angry. A godfather to a lonely orphan, and he doesn't even want to associate himself with him.

"This is Uzumaki Naruto," I growled. "You're telling me that you don't know him?"

"Sounds about right." He said, looking at me suspiciously.

"Uh, well this is Kimura Amy," Naruto said, then whispered to me. "Why are we using our full names? Isn't that stranger danger?"

I ignored him.

"You know who you are and who he is!" I said, mad that I couldn't be clearer. "Do your duty!"

"Well, now I know who he is," Jiraiya said. "Lower your voice, I don't want to be discovered!"

"Listen up, perv, do you know who he is to you?!"

"Probably," He said, trying to shush me. I raised my voice

"NO, you dildo! Do you know who he is?"

"What are you trying to say…?" He narrowed his eyes at me.

"If you know him, you need to do what you have to do. I'm begging you." I was almost in tears. I was trying to communicate to him, but it was hard being so ambiguous. One slip up and Naruto would lose a father figure until he was 12.

"I don't know what you're talking about." Jiraiya said. "I need to get back to work." A lecherous smile spread on his face before Naruto jumped on his hair. "Ow!" Jiraiya yelled. "What are you doing, you stupid kid?"

"Your hair is really big. Do you get haircuts?" Naruto tugged Jiraiya's mop. At this, the pervert's face softened and he took Naruto out of his hair gently.

"Not that much, kid."

I stared at Jiraiya. "Naruto's been through some tough shit, you know." I told him.

"I've been through some touch shit," Naruto repeated after me.

Jiraiya seemed to give up at this. "Sure you have," he said, then ruffled Naruto's hair. He stared at me. "Fine." He muttered.

I grinned.

After a while of bonding, we heard a woman's voice say, "Is someone out there?"

Jiraiya seemed to freeze. "I need to get out of here." He got up, until I grabbed his hand.

"Play along," I whispered to him, then nodded to Naruto, who nodded back. He walked over to my bag and unzipped it, retrieving a red ball. He tossed it to me.

I threw it high up into the branches of the tree, and it landed at the same time about 10 women wrapped in towels peeked out from the springs.

"Dad, come on, please? Me and Naru-chan just got it! Please get it for us!" I whined, hanging off of Jiraiya's arm.

"Yeah dad, we want to play!" Naruto said, taking the opportunity to jump in Jiraiya's hair again.

Jiraiya understood us immediately. "Well, kids, it's your own faults that you threw the ball up so high!" He chuckled and did his best to look fatherly.

We could hear the women sigh things like "how cute," and "what a lovely family". One woman said, "Come on, be a good father and get it for them!"

"Of course!" Jiraiya said, then walked horizontally up into the tree. Naruto and the women gasped in shock and awe. What a show off.

We couldn't see much of him in the leaves, but I knew that he was going to take his sweet time. The tree looked directly into the hot springs. Some blood dripped down from the tree, most likely from his nose.

"Dad? Can we have our ball?" I said after a while, getting impatient.

"Its really hidden up here, honey just a bit." Jiraiya's voice sounded nasally, like he was holding his nose.

The women oohed and ahhed over how good a father he was.

After a good half hour Jiraiya finally "found" our ball, and came down. We left the vicinity immediately.

"Hey, thanks guys!" He said. "Maybe I'll keep you around."

"Ero-sennin how did you walk up the tree like that? That was so cool! Teach me teach me teach me!" Naruto was hanging off of Jiraiyas hair again.

"Next time, maybe." Jiraiya removed Naruto from his head for the 100th time. "Wait- Ero-sennin?"

"You do that," I said. I needed him to stick around so he could help me and be a father figure towards Naruto. "Well, we need to go home now, so see you soon."

"Bye Ero-Sennin!" Naruto chirped as we walked home.

"Why are you calling me that?!"

A/N: Sorry this took so long, but I went back on the whole story and edited it to make it more relevant to the storyline. Check it out! So far, the big changes are Amy's thing with the nature chakra but basically I did some clean up. I love you all thanks for reading!
