It was a warm summer morning, the sun was peeking over the horizon as Sara walked barefoot down the road leading up to Xavier's school for gifted youngsters. Her high hills dangled from her fingers and a large leather bag was slung over her shoulder. She was lost in her own mind as she walked. Tears falling every now and then. She had to do it. Had to make sure no one would be hurt again. She prayed Victor would forgive her. She couldn't save his son and her failure to do so was ripping her apart. She took a deep calming breath and watched the sun rise. Her mind instinctively touched his. He was waking up, struggling and agitated. His jumbled confused thoughts made her stop and close her eyes. Her soft voice was in his mind, comforting him making him relax and slip back into a deep sleep.

The halls of the school were empty. It was a early Sunday morning and people were sleeping in like lazy Sunday mornings were made for.

"I'm in my office Sara."

Xavier's rich voice sounded in her head and she turned right and walked down the hall. His office door was open as she stepped in.

"Are you alright?" He asked poring two cups of coffee. He motioned for her to set as he wheeled around his desk and handed her the cup.

"No, not really." She said dropping her shoes and the bag she had by the chair. She sat and wrapped both hands around the warm cup.

"Sara, what have you done?"

" I did what had to be done." She said sipping her coffee.

"Is...he dead?"

She looked up at the huge grandfather clock in his office.

"He's not dead. Yet."

"What do you mean, Yet ? If we can stop any more deaths we have to."

"No, It has to be done. I...I couldn't help him." She put her cup down and looked at her hands.

"Sara with my help..."

"He knew Charles!"

The Professor sat back in his chair when she looked up at him with angry glowing eyes. He looked slightly confused at her outburst.

"He knew his father was in that lab. He knew what was being done to him day in and day out. Graydon even came up with some of the tests they did to him Charles. He's the one that paid the scientist's and doctor's to torture his father. He just wanted to see how long they could go before Victor died." Tears slipped from her eyes as she stood up. "There are files off of his computer and hard copy's of files from his office in the bag. It has names and places of everything the church of humanity was going to do. It's everything you'll need to stop them." She handed him the bag and turned to walk out of the Professor's office.

"Sara."

She stopped but didn't turn to look at him.

"I'm here should you ever need me. My door is always open."

She turned and looked at him as more tears slipped from her unusual eyes. She was lost, mentally and physically exhausted. She stared at him and didn't know what to say.

"The kids are with your sister and Logan my dear." He smiled at her reassuringly. "It's going to be alright."

"Thank You Charles."

It still amazed Logan to watch Sara appear out of thin air. She was standing at the foot of the bed watching Salem and her boys sleep. She relaxed watching them. Logan was setting quietly in a chair across the room watching his sister in law when the baby in his arms started to fuss.

Sara smiled to herself but didn't turn around.

"She wants her daddy."

" I know, I've been up with her all night trying to keep her calm. She's been cat napping for hours."

"She wont sleep when she's like this. I can't even get her to sleep. She's a daddy's girl."

He stood up and Sara turned to face him. He looked her over, taking in her blood splattered dress and how tired she looked. She gave him a sad smile as he stepped closer to her.

" Has everything been taken care of ?" He asked watching her.

" Yes."

"Are you alright darlin'?" The tears in her eyes when she looked at him left a painful tightness in his chest.

" I...I don't know if I'll be alright after I tell Victor what I did."

" Hay, its going to be okay Sara." He pulled her close to his side and hugged her.

"He loves you darlin', with everything in him and he'll never stop. No matter what you did." He kissed the top of her head and she relaxed into his embrace.

"Go get cleaned up. I'll take care of this little one till you get back.

Funny how his sense of smell always came back first after a major injury. His head was hurting and his body felt numb, But he could smell her. His mate, she was close to him and he could smell his cub. Just a few short years ago he would have came up swinging, lashing out at who ever maybe in his way. His mind would have been screaming at him to run. To rip apart anything to get away. It still amazed him how she was able to keep the animal and man so calm.

His sensitive ears picked up her movements, She was nursing his cub and there combined scents relaxed him more. Her soft voice made him want to open his eyes.

"Daddy is waking up punkin'."

Sara was holding the baby and standing beside the bed when black eyes focused on her. She was smiling at him and he did his best to smile back.

"She misses you Tiger." She said kissing his forehead.

She pushed the button on the bed to set him up, and he reached for the baby and his growl echoed off the walls when he saw the IV in his hand.

"Don't pull that out yet baby." She stopped his hand and he looked up at her. She smiled and placed the baby on his chest. His purr started instantly and the baby settled quickly. He relaxed into the bed and watched his mate stare at him and there daughter. She looked tired and upset, her scent was filled with anxiety and sadness. The scent set off warning bells in his still healing mind. His large hand found hers and he pulled her out of her own mind by a soft touch.

"Pack?"

"Everybody is fine baby. The boys are with Salem and Logan. You...You were the only one that was hurt baby."

His mind was clearing more he was able to focus now and he looked down at the sleeping cub on his chest them back at his wife. She was crying and he had no idea why.

"Almost healed baby." He said trying to reassure her.

"I...I know." She said crying harder.

He was profoundly confused now, She knew he'd heal from anything. He had no idea why she was so upset. He pulled her closer to him.

"Sara?" He was struggling to find the right words.

"It...It was Graydon, Victor." Her voice was barely above a whisper.

His head cocked to the side as he stared at her.

"He sent the man that shot you. He missed me and hit you by accident. I...was the target."

He remembered it clearly, He heard it before the pain ripped through his head. His last conscious thought was of his pack before the world faded away. His hand tighten on hers and he bared his teeth as a growl ripped from deep in his chest filled the room. The baby jumped and he looked down at her.

"I'll kill him myself." His voice was eerily calm when he spoke and it sent chills over Sara's body.

"You don't have to." She couldn't look at him when she said it.

"Sara what did you do?"

"I...I tried to help him Victor. I swear to God I did. I couldn't I'm so sorry I couldn't help him." She pleaded with him to understand. Images of what she did playing out in his mind like a movie. It was simpler to show him than to try and put it into words.

"Is he dead Sara?"

Her body was shaking as she nodded her head yes.

"Good."

Sara's head shot up and she stared at him in shocked amazement. She was preparing herself for his anger not his praise. He pushed her hair behind her ear and wiped away tears from her cheek with his free hand.

"Your mine Sara, I know you inside and out. I know you did everything you could. And then you made the hard choice to stop him. To protect our pack. You did the right thing." It was the most words he'd said sense he woke up, and it was exactly what she needed. He pulled her down and kissed her.

"I want to go home Doc." She smiled and kissed him again.

"Sure thing Tiger."

Televisions around the mansion came on at the same time startling students and staff that were near by. The anchorman looked shocked and somewhat unsettled.
