Welp, it's been another two years since I've updated this. Literally this has been a fic 4 years in the making. Holy crap.

This is the last chapter; I want to write a few sequels, because I love Bliss and still love the AU, even though I'm not in the fandom anymore, nor have been for years. Tell me if y'all are interested; are any of you still original readers reading this? Thanks for sticking with me if so!

Enjoy.

BLISS POV-

"Hello?" There was a heavy banging on the apartment door, and I practically jumped out of my shell. I looked up from my laptop and snatched my Bo closer to my chest, my heart hammering from surprise. A familiar voice called out again. "Bliss? You there?"

I rolled my eyes and sighed, letting my shoulders slump and my Bo fall back to the table. It was only April. "No," I called out, letting my sarcasm hide my nervousness. "I'm at the resistance."

April paused. I could practically see her roll her eyes. "I will break your door down, kid."

I groaned. "Oh, please. Not again." I stood up and stretched, my shell cracking. I walked to the door and cracked it open.

"Surprise!" April stood there, a huge grin on her weathered face. She was holding a chocolate bar and a box wrapped in brown paper. "Happy birthday!"

"Oh," I said, eyes wide. "Is that today?"

She shrugged. "I think it was actually yesterday. But I didn't get back in town until this morning, so..." April smiled. "Are you gonna let me in or not?"

I held the door open and let her walk in. She sat her stuff down on the kitchen table and plopped down. I sat down in my chair across from her.

"How did you not know it was your birthday?" She asked me, eyes filled with curiosity. "When I turned 16, that was all I could think about for like a month beforehand."

"I haven't left the house in a few days," I said slowly, making it up as I went. "I just lost track of time."

April's good mood dissipated some, catching on to my meaning. She hummed a little and cleared her throat awkwardly.

"You make any progress on your research?" she asked, nodding towards the laptop.

I glanced at it. I'd still been trying to track down my father, or, you know, the not-really-my-dad who'd hopped universes and landed in ours. "I think it's gonna be a lost cause," I said.

April leaned forward and placed a hand over mine. "You'll find him," she promised. "Or who knows, maybe he'll find you!"

I snorted. "I doubt that." I swiftly pulled my hand away and grabbed the box she brought to change the subject. "Is this for me?"

April smiled and nodded. I tore into the box and opened it. I froze, staring at the contents inside.

"It's from the lair," she said. I slowly reached inside and pulled out a picture frame of my family. It had been taken years before, when they were all still my age and unmarked by war. Their bodies were whole, and they were all smiling and laughing. A rat - Master Splinter - was perched beside Leonardo, a proud smile on his face as he watched his boys. I'd never seen any pictures of them all together before, and I was amazed.

"Where did you get this?" I asked, letting my fingertips trail over the frame.

"They found it while cleaning out Don's lab. The frame and glass was broken, so I got you a new one." She shifted in her seat. "I didn't know if you had any pictures of them."

"I didn't, or I don't," I said, my throat clenching up when I saw Uncle Raph's familiar smirk. I missed him. "Thank you, April." I whispered, not trusting my voice to hold out to say anything further.

April opened her mouth to say something else when her radio went off in a burst of static. Another woman's voice rattled off a question in code I didn't understand, and April sighed.

"Give me a second, will ya?" She asked. "I'm not there for fifteen minutes and it all goes to pieces without me." We exchanged knowing looks, and she pushed back her chair and walked into the next room.

I let my fingers trail over the picture again. I missed Uncle Raph. Shell, I even missed Michelangelo and Leonardo, and I didn't even know them well. And Donny... well, what can you say about dear old Dad?

All of a sudden, some shiny blue electricity crackled to my left, and I looked over in confusion. It fizzled out, and I frowned. That was weird.

It crackled again, looking like a giant tear, but then it expanded into a gaping circle. On the other side, I could see a messy room full of papers and computers.

"What the shell?!" I swore, getting out of my chair and stumbling back.

All of a sudden, a familiar face poked his head through.

"Bliss!"

"Da-Donny?! How? Why?"

"See, I told you I'd come back for you!" My father said, looking entirely too pleased with himself. He crawled through and landed on the kitchen floor. "There, that should hold for a few minutes."

My jaw was hanging wide open, and April walked back through the doorway when she heard the commotion. Her radio slipped out of her fingers at the sight of Donny, eyes almost as wide as mine.

"April!" Donny said. "It's good to see you!"

"Wha-?"

"The porthole won't stay open for long," Donny said. As if on cue, the hole crackled again. He turned back to me. "Bliss, I want you to come with me."

"Go with- what?!"

"This universe... well, there's nothing else to say but that it sucks," Donny said. "And there's no one left here." He turned briefly back to April, an apologetic look on his face. "No offense."

"None taken," she said, still looking too stunned.

"You can meet the rest of our family - for real this time - and we can finally have a real talk." I blinked at him. "What do you say?"

"I-" Honestly, I didn't know what to say. He was right, though; there was nothing left for me here. I wasn't going to reveal my existence to the public, the Shredder was destroyed, my family was gone. "I'll go," I said. I tilted my chin in the air. "Yeah," I repeated, nodding a little bit more. "I wanna go!"

He beamed at me and turned to April. "Ape? What about you?"

April hesitated. She seemed to really think it over, but she gave him a sad smile and shook her head. "I can't leave," she said. "I have to finish rebuilding. This is my world." Donny looked a little sad about it, but he nodded and told her he understood.

The blue light crackled again, and Donny turned back to look at it, a small crease between his eyes. "We need to go," he said. I sucked in a breath. So soon? I hurried slung my Bo across my back and tucked the candy bar April brought in my belt. I grabbed the photograph and held it for a moment, before whirring around and holding it out to April. She looked at me, surprised.

"Take it," I said. "I know you just gave it to me, but now this is all you'll have left."

April looked like she was about to cry. "It's yours," she said. "I want you to keep it."

"I'll miss you," I said.

April laughed wetly. "I hope the alternate me in this universe will love you as much as I do."

I smiled and sniffed; aw crap, she was going to make me cry.

The porthole cracked again, and this time Donny cleared his throat. "I hate to rush this, but Bliss, if you're coming, we need to go pronto."

I turned back to follow him, and he started crawling back through. I stepped closer and watched as he popped up on the other side. I looked over my shoulder and hesitated, looking at my home. April waved at me, tears welling up. I looked back to Donny. He was standing there, waiting on the other side with his hand held out towards me.

I took a deep breath, grabbed it, and crawled through to my new home.

Aww, see, he did come back for her! Any future fics would be regarding her settling into life in the universe we know and love. No promises, though. My goal was to just finish this one, and I'm glad I finally did :)
