The great devastation of the powerful leaf village was shocking to behold. A phantom beast had run rampant. The one they called hokage and his wife might have died had it not been for them, the Sannin. Without them a certain blond child would have become one of the many orphans that day.

The self styled Lord Master Jiraiya had been the saviour that day. Minato Namikazae would not have been alive without him. His skill with seals was renown. So for him to find a sage alternative that did not require the sacrifice to perform the demon death reaper. It had been enough to place the raging tailed beast right into his newborn godson.

He had always been the offensive type. Tsunade was the one who had dedicated herself to defend and to heal. Thus as he carried his tiny godson into the village hospital, he knew that she would have no problems dealing with the injured. Well the other medic nins were likely coping with the bulk of the injured. Tsunade was probably in that main operating theatre treating Minato and Kushina. He had nothing left to do but wait and admire his new godson.

A small smile grew on Jiraiya's life at how peaceful Naruto was. Thank goodness Jiraiya did not need to take him home that night. He had been more than ready to do that if he needed to. But then that was his plan B, plan A was to get Tsunade. She had run away years before, but this had been an emergency she could not refuse, even if it was him. Oh Tsunade had rejected Jiraiya time and time again, but he still adored her just the same. In fact, hunting her down had awaken that raw passion in his soul, the one to chase Tsunade.

Their village knew that they were the perfect couple. Both were part of the Sannin so really and truly no other partners were suitable for them. Tsunade might have squandered her inheritance on her drinking spiral but she did not need it. Jiraiya was still very much stinking rich and he would support if only she would finally become his.

"Lord Master Jiraiya…"

Jiraiya's thoughts came to a sudden halt as he blinked to see her. A nurse clad in a skimpy uniform bending down in front of him. It was enough to make him go red in the face as well as other things. Those that saw him were probaly laughing but he did not care. He knew why he was like this. It was due to rejection on Tsunade's part. To him she was a goddess, but that goddess had spurned him again and again. So to quell his ego he comforted him in knowing that he could seduce any other woman he wanted. These were never serious. Yet they had given him plenty of things to write about in his famous adult novels. But then again they were only fantasies with a woman who actually wanted.

"Yes..." his tone was soft.

"Lady Tsunade and her student Shizune have been successful in restoring the Lord Hokage and the lady Kushina to full health"

A brood smile had crept across his face as he slowly he rose onto his feet. He immediately brought the baby Naruto up to his chest. The innocent facial expression on his godson's face had caused his chest to flutter.

It's a shame that I could never have one of my own…

"Take me to them" he told the nurse.

The nurse simply nodded and headed over to the nearby lift. Jiraiya followed behind and thought about everything he had achieved in his life, feeling unsatisfied. As he entered into the lift, many images began to flood into his mind. He recollected the many battles he had won and the millions of admirers he had gained. But along with his memories of reality, his heart ached for something more. A stable home life. He could never admit it, but his dream had not included his shinobi status and his fame. As a child, his life goal had been to gain the perfect wife, live in a mansion and sire a beautiful child. That would have shown that damned second hokage who always seemed to be watching his every move. But now that he was in his forties, was the woman of his dreams still capable of giving him a child?

I will pursue her for the rest of my life...of that I am sure.

He continued to follow the nurse along the corridor whilst cradling his fussing godson. As if by instinct, he rocked the little blond. His student would be a good father of that he was sure. It was still rather shocking that Minato had named him godfather. The villagers held a poor view of him when it came to childrearing. He would not let it get to him, those that thought that way were ignorant pigs.

Soon two double doors opened for Jiraiya to see them. Minato and Kushina Uzumaki propped up against many comfortable pillows. Seeing them like this meant one thing. The leaf village had not lost their leaders.

"Jiraiya sensei…"

At the mere mention of his name, Jiraiya made his way towards his blonde haired student. He took care when occupying a place on the side of the bed. He did not want to crush Minato or have Naruto roll out of his arms.

"Minato..." he murmured softly. The Yondaime who was usually so calm and collected was at the pinnacle of exhaustion. His blonde hair only seemed to make his pale face seem paler, his eyes were hollow... It was a classic case of chakra exhaustion.

"I was prepared to die"

With the mention of those words, Jiraiya's heart felt very heavy. He could not help but glance over to the peaceful looking Kushina before speaking: "Minato! What need did you have to sacrifice yourself and Kushina? Would you have really wanted to leave your son an orphan. Most do not take kindly to jinchuriki."

It appeared as if his heart felt words had had the effect that he had desired. Minato was now sending a wam smile at his newborn. It was enough to show Jiraiya that Minato still very much wanted to be a father.

He watched as Minato's arms reached forward. Jiraiya acquised by placing his godson in those same arms. Yet at the moment of exhange, Jiraiya's heart sank. He did not regret the reunion of father and son. His heart ached for what was missing from his life.

At the moment of exchange, Jiraiya watched Kushina stir and awaken. Her face, unlike her husband's, was healthy in appearance. He could immediately tell that Tsunade had activated her Uzumaki bloodline. It was the best way to prevent her from dying. Most other Jinchuriki would have died right after the extraction. He could feel that great chakra of hers but somehow it was lacking. The sadness in her eyes made him realise that Naruto would be the only child she would ever have.

"Master Jiraiya..." she spoke quite clearly. "I truly hope that one day soon Kami will reward your selfless actions and give you the thing which you most desire"

Kushina's eyes were on Naruto. If Kushina had been staring at him, then Jiraiya would know that his heart's desire was not so secret anymore.

...

Astoundment gripped Jiraiya. Out of all the places he expected to find Tsunade after her surgical duties, it was most definitely not in a bar. He was quick to drew up a chair beside her. It was not as if his teammate was in the right state of mind to protest. She was far too busy bossing the bartender around: "Two portions of your best sake"

At the mention of 'two', Jiraiya found himself the object of his blonde love interest's attention. He had heard about her drinking escapades that was true. However he did not think that she would be so shameless about it.

"What are you doing here?"

Ah there's that fiery temper…

Jiraiya chuckled:

"Oh Tsunade I am sure that you know of my involvement with the sealing of the…"

A split second later that telltale raised fist came at him. Tsunade was muttering something about his smug face. But Jiraiya would not take it, not this time. He had let Tsunade do it in the past but he now knew different. Most women did not respect men who would just take abuse. And he would not let Tsunade do it, especially in her drunk state. Instead he did something which had other women red in the face. He pinned Tsunade's offending hand down.

Jiraiya expected Tsunade to yell at him, she could only laugh: "Someone's grown balls...Ero-sannin"

Jiraiya's eyes hardened. She was insulting his manhood, he did not like it. His expression was enough to make him feel Tsunade shiver under his hold. An argument seemed to be coming on the horizon, and it was one that Jiraiya might have been able to win. Well know that he was not going to let Tsuande beat him to a pulp. But the bartender was the icebreaker. Well at least the two cups of sake that he was pouring the sake into was.

Tsuande used her free hand to take one cup as soon as it was full. Instead of drinking it herself she offered it to Jiraiya. Was this her way of trying to get Jiraiya to loosen up? He did not ask, he took the drink and let go of Tsunade's arm. He half expected her to strike him when he did, instead she started sipping too. Then they got their next glass and then their next and next. It was not long after that, that Jiraiya felt his senses becoming dulled and mellow. His thoughts in his mind fizzling out.

"So it looks like regardless of popular belief your precious student has not surpassed your macho self". She was still being mean but the word which she was saying was starting to become more truthful. He knew from their teenage years that she had an appalling resilience to alcohol.

"The great Toad sage has saved the day yet again" This time her words came out slurred and her face was going red. She was no longer sitting upright but rather her chin was against the bar counter. Whatever sake Tsunade had ordered it was beginning to affect Jiraiya too. That meant that it had to be strong, as he fought to keep his wits about him.

"Maybe you need something stronger" Tsunade mused out loud.

And before he could protest, the bartender poured vodka right into his glass.

"Ah you're weak..." At hearing Tsunade's chiding, Jiraiya found himself biting onto his pride and taking a massive swig at his mug. His head immediately began to pound and his muscles began to spasm.

He then heard her chuckling, and his vision began to blur. Before he knew what was going, Tsunade had flung herself into his arms. Jiraiya did not know how to respond. Tsunade was being intimate with him after so many decades of facing rejection from her.

"Are you a man or aren't you?" she asked him in a seductive tone.

Jiraiya knew those words oh too well and he did not have his usual capablites to stop it from happening...

...

Jiraiya sprung up from the bed. Wait he was in a hotel. Why did he have such a terrible headache? His vision was abismal. Only when he leaned against the back board of the bed did he realise he had no clothes on. But that did not explain the aching and the fuzzy feeling.

"How did I end up here?" He thought to himself.

When he tried to climb out of the bed he felt something hard between his legs. The thing that made him a man. The fuzziness soon took over his mind and his ears as he saw images, events of the past?

He saw candles and darkness, and he heard himself panting and that of a woman…

That only made him rub his temple as a memory of a loud scream seemed to echo in his ears: "Jirrrraiiiiiyaaaaaa…!"

He found himself blinking a few times, recognising that voice: "Oh Tsunade what have you done to me?"
