Ayano thumbed the small velvet box in her pocket for the tenth time that day, her throat dry and her palms sweating.
She turned to face the ocean, watching the sun slowly sink as the sky turned a stunning pale orange.
The purple-haired girl had been waiting for the perfect moment; she had been planning this for months, the moment had to be absolutely perfect, and here it was.
She swallowed.
"K-Kyouko" she began.
Ayano turned her head slowly, only to face a sight she would not have expected in a thousand years. Kyouko was kneeling, a small box open in her palm, revealing the most beautiful ring Ayano had ever seen.
Ayano felt tears coming to her eyes.
"K-Kyouko" she whispered.
Kyouko's voice was shaky when she finally managed to speak.
"Ayano...will...will you marry me?"
Ayano could do little but lean in and surprise her beloved with a long, passionate kiss.
"Hehe, you wouldn't believe it but-" Ayano replied after the kiss had ended, shakily reaching into her pocket to reveal the small velvet box, containing its own beautiful ring, looking back up to see Kyouko wearing her signature grin.
"Is that a yes?" The blonde asked, having regained her usual confidence
"Of course you dummy."
The now-engaged couple embraced, but Kyouko was surprised to feel wet droplets falling on her shoulder.
"Ayano, are you okay?" She asked in a deeply concerned voice, pulling Ayano from the hug.
"I'm so lucky to have you Kyouko. I love you so, so much" She whimpered, diving in to resume the hug.
Kyouko smiled.
"I love you too."
