Teresa heard an unearthly roar behind her.
She froze, staring up at the ceiling.
A huge piece of the ceiling had loosened and was crashing to the ground…right where Thomas was.
Teresa drew in a breath. Tom! Teresa called out to him in her mind. Move!
But Teresa didn't have enough strength to do that.
Brenda stood behind her, eyes stretched wide with shock.
Teresa didn't have enough time to think. She moved.
Her body slammed into Thomas's and sent him stumbling to the maintenance room.
The ceiling fell on Teresa. She felt the sharp edges dig into her skin.
It pinned her down. She couldn't move and even if she could, Teresa wasn't sure she would've been alive for long.
The rest of her body was smashed underneath the piece of building, only one of her arms and head was still sticking out.
"Teresa!" Thomas screamed and for a moment, Teresa felt her heart swell.
He still cared for her. But it didn't take long for Teresa to realize what was going to happen to her. She was going to die.
"Teresa!" Thomas shouted again.
His voice dropped down low to a whisper. "I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry." Thomas seemed to be speaking to himself, but Teresa could hear him. She could also hear how much pain their was in his voice.
Teresa struggled to speak to him. "Me…too." Teresa gasped out, her breathing uneven. "I only ever… cared for…"
She didn't manage to finish her sentence and Thomas was dragged away. She wouldn't see him anymore.
Tom. Teresa thought as she drew in her last breath. I wish things would have been different. Much more different. I wish…I could still be with you. But…I can't. I'm sorry.
Teresa closed her eyes, never to see the world around her again. She heard a loud boom fill the air and everything collapse around her, flames everywhere.
Tom. Was Teresa's last thought. Ever.
