For Gumi. Oh the joys of unrequited love~ We're in the same boat. XD And for everyone else who has any unrequited love for someone. :3 Yeah. Hope you like it even though it's a bit rushed. I wrote it in the last twenty minutes of science class~
She's all broken melodies and the sound of rain.
He's the turning of heads whose minds have long since ceased working.
She's the mirror that always reflects a stranger.
He's the road people avoid travelling by.
She's the echo of a laugh no one ever hears.
He's the reason no one's laughing.
And yet they're the same.
Her nails were painted a light blue on the day she first saw him. Not that it mattered anyways since he didn't notice. He never noticed things like that. Like her. But for some reason unknown even to herself, she wanted him to.
When she accidentally ran into him, he helped her up, and she took note of how perfectly his hand fit in hers. The smile he offered her was meant to be warm, but it didn't reach his eyes. He was too distant. That needed to change. He needed a change for the better. He knew in the back of his mind that he couldn't go on this way, and somehow, even having just met him, she sensed it too.
She could tell there was something hidden behind his eyes. And she took it upon herself to make that sadness disappear.
He's also the reason her eyes still have a light.
The reason she looks forward.
And she tries.
She tries to change him.
But it's hard.
Because they say hearts like ours don't always change.
Hearts like his.
Like hers.
That carefree blue nail polish changed to a deep navy. He still didn't notice. Why would he? It wasn't relevant. Was it?
At least now he acknowledged her, but he still wasn't letting her in. Progress is progress though, so she wasn't in a position to complain. Knocking down the walls he'd constructed so carefully was going to be a problem.
Another obstacle wasn't going to stop her though. At this point she'd do anything for the boy who had pulled her out of her own sadness when she was drowning.
She was determined not to let him drown.
And he's just upside down and still spinning.
Desperately trying to find a way to stand up.
But she's not getting dizzy like the others did.
Even though all she wants to do is get him to be still long enough for her face to come into focus.
She will wait.
And wait.
And wait.
. . .
For him to realize how much happiness he brought her.
The boy who broke it all somehow repaired the girl no one ever stopped to fix.
And now it was her turn to save him.
She painted her nails gray that day. He noticed.
She wasn't giving up on him.
Not today.
note:
Funnily enough, I just painted my nails grey last night~ The irony~ Right then, so how was that? Review? Reviews are loved~
