While Steve slept almost peacefully in Danny's lap, his mind was still racing. The sound of the thundering storm curled its way through his ears and only deepened his worry. Steve was there and he was ok, but he couldn't guarantee how long that would last…

Ah, my knee! That was the first thought that had crossed Danny's mind as he stirred from his rocky slumber. The battering of the rain outside the dingy cave, the howling of the wind, the thrashing of the waves, the uncomfortable position and a mind that just wouldn't shut down for one moment caused him to barely sleep at all. Opening his eyes, he looked down to see Steve still fast asleep on his lap peacefully. Steve still had his fingers intertwined with Danny's and as Danny sat taking in all of the relaxed features on Steve's face, it help put his mind at rest for a few seconds. All the creases by his eyes that were normally there during the day seemed to magically disappear in sleep. He stirred, cuddling in closer to Danny, using his free arm to wrap around Danny's waist giving him very limited movement, not that he minded. Danny just couldn't resist Steve like this, so he wormed his now dead arm out from underneath Steve and ran his hand through the messy brown locks again and again as Steve unconsciously nuzzled back into his touch, settling back down.

How long was he going to keep this up? "Hey Danno, if you don't stop all that thinking, you will cause yourself an injury," laughed Steve fluttering his eyes open to be met with Danny's crystal like blue ones staring down at him. He loved waking up like this and it was a nice distraction from the situation that they would have to deal with sooner than later, but right now he just wanted to lie there and forget about everything apart from Danny. His hair was all in disarray and his shirt was badly ripped showing off his toned six-pack, which Steve was not going to be complaining about any time soon.

"Hey, I have to do something while you are getting all your beauty rest your Highness!" replied Danny lowering his head in some form of a bow. Steve laughed, forming those crinkles by his eyes that ended in a smile that was reserved only for Danny and Danny alone. No one else would ever get to see that smile. Not if he had anything to say about it.

"I can see you got heaps of that last night didn't you Danno?!" asked Steve removing his hand from around Danny's waist and worming it up around his neck, pulling him in for a long drugging kiss and stealing what little breath they had in the freezing temperature. The wind and the leakage of rain from a crack in the ceiling of the cave were really starting to take its toll on both men. Only after pulling away and removing the warmth of each other's lips, did both men notice that they were shaking quite uncontrollably, quivering in each other's arms.

Shuffling from underneath him, Danny ignored the twinge of pain that shot up his bad knee as he leaned Steve back against the rock he had been lying against for a good portion of the night. "Someone had to make sure you didn't lie on that broken leg without any support, possibly causing more damage than there already is Steven. Plus, do you know how long it takes me to look as hot as I usually do before coming to work?" Danny retorted, backing out of the cave as much as he dared in order to take a look at the extent of the damage to Steve's leg. Kneeling down at his side, he saw Steve cross his arms quickly, indicating he was frustrated at the answer that Danny had replied with. This only made him realise he was not going to hear the end of this conversation, which he guessed was a good thing, because if Steve was busy making fun of Danny, he wasn't focussing on the pain from his leg.

"Actually I do Danny. Don't pretend you didn't notice that I was actually awake when you got up an hour earlier at my place to make sure your hair was perfect before I woke up!" sniggered Steve, but his last word came out as a hiss as Danny's finger tips brushed over the bruising skin. He curled his hands into fists, cringing as his nails dug into the palms of his hands, numbing under the pressure. Scrunching his eyes shut, he refused to look at what Danny was doing and he was certainly going to refuse to go to a hospital when they got out of this mess. They couldn't do anything for a break anyway except throw a cast on it and sign him off to desk duty for at least a month and a half and there was no way in hell that was happening. He would just have to let it heal on its own and maybe lock Danny away with him for a month or so.

"Shush babe. I know this is going to hurt, but I have to see how bad the injury is and whether or not we can move you because we are both going to get seriously dehydrated soon if we don't come up with some kind of plan." Danny finished in a hush tone as he moved away from the damaged leg. Rocking back on his heels, he watched as Steve slowly became more relaxed. His eyes still remained closed, so Danny used this time to smooth his hair out as best as possible. When it was a little more manageable and Steve was back to normal, doing as little movement as possible, Danny managed to wrestle Steve's phone from his pocket. He stared at the screen and then out towards the opening of the cave. The storm had finally blown past and the tide was now heading back out. They should be able to get down within the hour. Right before pocketing the phone once again, Danny had a brief moment where a solution to the problem just popped right into his head. He was finally starting to feel better about this whole situation.

"The cliffs are preventing the signal from coming through. This phone is just about useless to us, so what we could do is…," but Danny was interrupted by Steve raising his hand to stop the detective mid-sentence. If you were a stranger, the look of pain and coldness in his eyes would have you recoiling in fear and dread and you would never be able to look at him the same way again. However, Danny was not a stranger. He knew this face. This was aneurysm face, which meant Steve was up to something and he was pretty sure he wasn't going to like what it was.

Doing his best not to look right at Danny and avoiding eye contact at all times, Steve spoke up. "You are going to have to leave me Danno…"
