A/N: While looking through LinkXSheik fanart I thought of this conversation in which Sheik has decided to leave, believing that is the right choice to make. Also in the backstory for this is of course that he has shared minds and body with Zelda for a long time and knows that she also loves Link, and Sheik could never deny her anything. This is my first attempt for a dialogue-only story, so I hope you like it.

And yes, I see Sheik as male.

I do not own The Legend of Zelda. Unfortunately.

"No".

"I'm sorry."

"Please don't..."

"It's for the best."

"No. Stay."

"I can't."

"Why?"

"It's not right"

"I don't care. Please, stay with me."

"People are expecting you to marry the Princess."

"I don't care! I only want you."

"It doesn't work like that, Hero. It was never meant to be."

"Don't we have power over our own destinies?"

"... No"

"Please..."

"Link..."

"I need you with me."

"It'll be best like this. You'll soon forget..."

"I won't!"

"..."

"What about you then?"

"Me?"

"Do you really want to go? Everything you said to me... Everything we had... Didn't it mean anything?!"

"... Everything will be better soon."

"Look at me! Look me in the eyes and tell me you never loved me!"

"..."

"Well?"

"I can't do that."

"You can't what?!"

"I can't tell you I've never loved you! I cannot lie to you! I did love you!"

"... But you don't love me anymore?"

"I do. I'll always love you."

"Then why... ?"

"I'm sorry."

"Don't leave me. I can't live without you!"

"... Don't cry, Hero."

"Call me by my name."

"Link. Please, don't cry."

"You're crying too."

"You'll forget."

"Never. I'll never forget."

"You have duties..."

"I don't care about my duties. I don't care about my hero title or my status as a knight. I'd give it all up if I could just be with you. If you leave I'll come with you. If you go without me I will follow you. I'd follow you to the end of the world if I had to."

"You sure talk big..."

"It's not just empty words!"

"I know. Let go of me now. Please."

"No."

"Do you trust me?"

"Of course I do!"

"Then trust in that I'm doing what's best for you."

"You are the best for me."

"This is best for the both of us!"

"You want to leave me."

"... Yes."

"You have never been very good at lying, Sheik."

"..."

"Stay."

"I have to go."

"Please."

"I'm sorry."

"I love you. Please, wait! Don't go..."

"I'm sorry. I'm so very sorry..."
