''Hey guys.''

The boys came walking through the doors and ran towards Matt, embracing him and after they let go of him they walked to Gabby, hugging her as well.

''Terminator!'' Ben laughed as he hugged Matt again and Matt smiled, knowing they called him that because of the iron pins in his leg that kept making troubles every time he went to Florida by plane.

''How was your flight?'' They said as they walked to the car and Matt was really glad the boy had arrived save and sound. Although he knew they would be okay flying on their own as they were really responsible, he was still worried about them.

They drove to the house were and Gabby lived now and the boy unpacked, ready to spend some days with Matt and Gabby.

''Mom is coming to pick us up Sunday. She said she hopes you will also come to Florida soon again.''

Griffin said as they walked outside, going downtown to eat something and have something to drink.

''I really missed Chicago.'' Ben sighed, looking around at the large buildings from the car and they got out close to the station, walking through the park and to the cloud gate. Matt remembered they had been going here very often after Andy died.

''We saw some pictures on TV last month that showed the cloud gate during the storm.'' Ben said to Matt as he walked closer, touching the monument and he looked at the clouds it reflected.

''I know, I saw them too.''

Honestly it was one of the only thing that remembered him of that night. Gabriela kept talking about when she had helped him in the collapsed basement, but he couldn't remember any of it. The first clear memory after the collapsing of the basement was when she was there when he woke up and the next time the boys were there. They hadn't spoken a lot about the accident during the storm although they knew it had happened and it had made them all strong. Chicago had rebuild and repaired and so had they.

''Mom always said dad could see us here, because it is the cloud gate.'' Ben said, emotional.

Gabby laid her hands on his shoulder. ''Your dad can always see you.''

They walked to a lunch room together and had something to drink and to eat while the boys called their mother they had arrived safely. Sure, Matt had already send her a text, but the boys seemed to enjoy telling their mother that they had really done it, flying to Chicago by themselves.

They had dinner together and after that they went to the pier. Although it was Late June it was pretty warm. Last year they had been here one day before the storm of 5 July. The firework of the fourth seemed so far away thinking about the storm and everything that had happened after it.

''Can we go in the Ferris wheel?''

''Sure!'' Matt bought the tickets as Gabby and the boys joined the queue and Gabby laughed as she saw Griffin two different socks.

''that's a habit that stayed after staying with me?''

He looked down, blushed and laughed then.

''I guess.''

Matt joined them and they got in the ride and Ben gasped as they went higher and higher.

''Vertigo.'' Griffin rolled his eyes and Matt laid his arm around Ben.

''Hey it doesn't matter, it is not scary! Just enjoy the view.''

Ben grabbed the sleeve of Matt's thin jacket and although he did enjoy the view now, he did not let go before they were safely on the ground again.

They walked past the stalls and Matt played one of the ball-throw games together with Griffin. Neither of them won anything and Ben looked at the plushy teddy beer at the shooting stall on the other side of the pier.

''Matt, will you win that teddy for me?'' He asked then and Matt pointed at Gabriela.

''Gabby is a better shooter than me.''

''Oh just because my brother is a cop?''

''No, because I never learned how to shoot and yes your brother is a cop that learned you how to shoot.''

Gabby took the gun determined and shot one of the cans from the middle row, causing the top ones tumble down. She shot the other one off and used the other two bullets good and only one can was left.

''Shoot it, Gabby!'' Ben said exciting, pulling himself up so he could look over the wooden platform Gabby was leaning on.

Gabby pulled the trigger and the can fell down. Cheering Ben embraced her and the man from the stall gave Ben teddy.

''hey, do you want some ice cream?'' Matt said, pointing at the small Ice cream stall.

''One Strawberry and lemon.'' Gabby started.

''One with stracciatella and chocolate, one with – ''He paused for a second to look at Griffin, ''One with vanilla and stracciatella.''

Griffin nodded and he looked at Ben.

''And one with Chocolate and banana.''

Ben nodded as well and Casey smiled as he handed them the ice creams.

Walking another small round they decided to sit down.

They sat down on a bench together as Gabriela was talking to a woman she knew from the hospital farther away and Matt looked as the guy enjoying their ice creams. It almost been a year ago that they sat here for the last time.

''This is the same place we sat before the firework.'' Griffin said as he looked at Matt, like he was reading his mind.

''Yeah, right.'' Matt nodded, keeping the ice from streaming over his hand by licking it sideways.

''You promised you would never leave us…and now we left.'' Ben said while he laid his head against Matt's shoulder.

''No, you didn't.''

''But we live in Florida now!''

''But that doesn't mean we broke the promise. You are always with me, right here in my heart.''

The boys both laid their head against his shoulders and Matt laid his arms around them, kissing them both on the head. They would always stay together wherever they lived, but they wouldn't need a promise for that.
