Hiccup stirs up a pot of venison and cabbage stew, and attempts to convince Toothless to try some! For coltjolt! Thank you :D

Grabbing the knife at his side, Hiccup began to slowly cut the piece of cooked venison into small chunks, pushing them into a small pile before turning back to the cooking pot that sat bubbling over the heath, steam pouring from the top of the boiling broth. Hiccup smiled, nodding his head a little to it as he stirred the broth with his wooden spoon and began to drop handfuls of venison into the pot, falling in with little plops.

With all the venison in to pot, Hiccup reached down to grab the lid off the floor and placed it back onto the pot to let it boil before turning back to the table, picking up the large cabbage he had just gotten this morning and began to cut it.

The front door opened, followed by a small knock as Astrid stuck her head into the room and smiled "Hey Hiccup"

"Ever heard of knocking?" he said, without looking up from the cabbage as he smiled.

Astrid chuckled, swinging the door shut before bouncing towards him "I did knock, didn't you hear?"

Rolling his eyes, Hiccup put down his knife and began to pull the pieces of cabbage apart. Astrid looked down at what he was doing, resting her hands on the table as she watched him work "What are you making?"

"Venison and cabbage stew" Hiccup said, finally looking up to the girl to see her smirk "Trying to bribe your dad for something again?"

Hiccup scoffed and pulled the lid off the cooking pot, handing it to Astrid to hold before scooping the cabbage up in both hands and dropped it into the stew "Please Astrid, I would never give my dad venison and cabbage stew for something" he took the lid off her and smirked a little "He hates cabbage. I would give him stewed Boar instead"

Astrid laughed a little and shook her head "So who is the stew for?"

"It's for Toothless" Hiccup put the lid onto the pot to let it boil before turning back to Astrid, wiping his hands on his tunic "He's a little sick so I thought I could make him some stew!"

"Not to judge your all-knowing dragon knowledge, but don't dragons eat fish?"

"Well yeah" he nodded "But Toothless keeps throwing them back up, so I'm trying this" he gestured to the pot "I don't think it'll be a problem, I mean, Stormfly loves chicken, Toothless might love Venison"

Astrid scoffed "Good luck with that" She turned to leave, walking over to the door and opened it before turning back to Hiccup and smiled "You better save me soon, I don't care how much Toothless will beg for more!"

Hiccup snouted a laugh as Astrid left, rolling his eyes before turning to the stew and lifted the lid and smiled down at it. Picking up the spoon and stirring the stew, Hiccup lifted the spoon to his lips to taste some. His smile grew before he dropped the spoon back into the pot and search for a large enough bowl for Toothless.

After finding one that was the perfect size for the Night Fury, Hiccup poured as much of the stew into the bowl as he could and lifted it up. Carefully, Hiccup carried the bowl up the stairs and to his room, kicking the door open and poked his head through. Instantly his eyes feel on the form of his dragon, curled up in a small back on his rock slab. Shuffling through the door, Hiccup crept towards Toothless, knelt down by his head and set the bowl down before putting his hands on Toothless' head and gently began to shake him "Toothless" Hiccup whispered in the dragon's ear "Wake-y wake-y"

The dragon groaned, his face twisting a little before he opened his eyes and looked up at Hiccup with his dull, tried eyes "Hic?" he asked, still dazed from sleep as he sniffed.

Smiling, Hiccup kissed the top of the dragon's nose "Afternoon Buddy"

Toothless yawned and lifted his head, looking at Hiccup sleepily "Hi"

Giggling, Hiccup repeated his dragons words before lifting the bowl to his face "I made you lunch!"

The dragon grumbled at the slight of it, head pulling back "I can't keep fish down, Hiccup, you know that"

Settling the bowl in front of Toothless, Hiccup quickly shook his head "It's okay, it's not fish, it's Venison!"

"Venison?" Toothless questioned

Hiccup grinned "And cabbage!"

Toothless pulled a face before looking back down at the bowl and started sniffing weakly, ears drooping "But I don't like Venison"

"Well how would you know? You've never even tried it, so just have a little bite" Hiccup urged.

"No thank you" Toothless eyed the stew suspiciously "It looks funny"

"It's not going to kill you! Just try it, It'll make you feel batter" When the dragon didn't budge, Hiccup sighed heavily and stood up "Fine, I'm just trying to get you better"

Turning his back on the dragon, Hiccup walked to the door and glanced over his shoulder "Just wanted to make you feel better"

Toothless watched him leave, ears dropping as he sighed and looked down at the bowl, leaning towards it and began to sniff it. Not being able to smell it, Toothless grumbled and flicked his tongue out, touching the surface of the stew and smack his lips. Pausing for a moment, Toothless stared into the bowl before dipping his tongue into it, finding it pleasantly warm as he gave it a quick lap and pulled back, the warmth spreading down his throat and to his belly.

'Not too bad' Toothless' tongue flicked out the lick his lips 'Hiccup did make it after all…I guess I could have a few licks, just to make him happy'

(Boop)

"Did Toothless like it?" Astrid asked and she opened the small metal pot and smiled the stew inside, sniffing it a little as Hiccup sighed and shook his head "Too stubborn to even try it" he muttered.

"Don't take it to heart, Hiccup, he's a dragon, he likes fish" Astrid put the lid back onto the pot and leaned against the doorframe "and he is your dragon, are you really surprised he has stubborn issues?"

Hiccup glared at her for a moment "I don't have stubbornness issues"

Astrid looked at him pointy before shrugging "Thanks for the stew" she smiled "Toothless may not like your cooking but I sure do"

"No problem, it would've gone to waste" Getting up off Astrid's front step, Hiccup brushed off his backside, smiled at his friend and said goodbye before heading back home. Hiccup dragged his feet as he walked, enjoying the sunset as he headed home. He wanted to fly, sunset was his and Toothless' favorite tome of day to go flying together, but his dragon was sick, and it wasn't the same without him.

Hiccup sighed again and looked up when his house came into view, climbing up the hill and opened his front door quietly. Closing it, Hiccup looked at his kitchen and decided he should clean his mess and went upstairs to fetch the bowl.

'If I get hungry later I could always have Toothless' left overs' Hiccup shrugged to himself and softly opened his bedroom door, expecting to see a full bowl but instead saw it upside down. Glancing up at his sleeping dragon, Hiccup huffed and crept into the room and to the bowl, expecting it to be wet with stew around it but find the floor dry. Frowning, Hiccup reached for the bowl and lifted it up, turning it in his hands to see that it was empty, not a trance of cabbage nor Venison in it.

Hiccup looked back up at Toothless, then at the bowl before he smiled proudly, quickly giving Toothless a light peak on his forehead, and got up, carrying the bowl out of the room with him, a goofy smile on his face as he looked back at Toothless before he slipped out of the room, leaving his sick dragon to sleep peacefully.
