The trip was, unpleasant, to say the least. It was really uncomfortable to be away from the forest for so long. But, we finally arrived at Liocott Island. Using the money Mizuko gave me, I managed to get a room to stay in. I spent the rest of the day wandering around. The human world really is strange.
The next day, I found out more about the schedule for the soccer matches. As the tournament had started before I arrived, Inazuma Japan had already played their first match. Today was the match between your team and a team called 'Desert Lion'.
I shuddered. From what Ikue told us, the desert is a sandy, hot place. Definitely not a place for a yuki onna. And she also said that lions were fierce animals which eat weak animals. Although Ikue is a yosei, and fairies often exaggerate.
I sighed. Sometimes I wished I wasn't born a yuki onna. Humans are really mysterious creatures. The yosei are allowed to travel everywhere, considering their fairy-appearance makes them looks like insects. The obake are the best. They can shapeshift into anything they want. But I'm rambling now.
I made my way to the stadium. The sun was really hot. If I was still fully a yuki onna, I would have died by now.
I made my way to a seat and watched the match.
When you collapsed, I felt my throat dry up and my heart stop. Clutching my neck, I prayed to every single god out there.
'Please… Please be safe, Fubuki…'
Thankfully, one of the gods listened. You were exhausted, but unharmed. Although my power was greatly weakened, I tried my best to cool down the area.
Inazuma Japan won. You must have been really happy about that. Even I was affected by the joy and cheer in the stadium.
The following day was the match between Inazuma Japan and Fire Dragon. It's strange, in both matches which I watched, the opposing team had a name which sent chills up my spine.
Fire. It is a yuki onna's worst nightmare. Dragon. It was a terrifying race of beasts which, thankfully, disappeared with time.
I was so relieved when you appeared again, unharmed. Although that feeling was short-lived.
I gasped as you were hit. I grabbed my shirt when you fell. I ran out of the stadium when I saw you in pain.
I wasn't sure how far I ran. I just wanted to get away. Before I realised anything, I crashed head-first into another person.
I immediately apologised, but stopped when I heard a familiar voice call my name.
I looked up and saw another one of my friends, Ino, an obake. Actually, more like I saw myself in her eyes. She had shapeshifted into a human and was looking at me with her brown eyes. One way of telling if someone is an obake is to look for distinctive features. Ino's eyes will always perfectly reflect your image, regardless of what shape she takes.
"Ino! What are you doing here?!"
She reached into her bag and pulled out something very familiar. My scarf.
She tossed it to me. "A little gift from Mizuko."
I caught my scarf before looking at her with a questioning glance. She only winked at me before running off, probably to shapeshift into something else.
I wrapped the scarf around my neck and went back to the hotel. Of course, I had to stumble around to find it as I was kinda lost.
It was my fourth day on Liocott Island. I heard from the news that you had been taken off the team. I ran as fast as I could to the airport.
When I arrived, I sat down for a while to catch my breath. Staying in a forest for most of my life did nothing to help with my stamina.
After a few minutes, I heard a car roll up to the front of the airport. I make my way to the entrance, only to see you hobble out of a black car with crutches.
You didn't realise I was there, and just walked past me. But I was tired of being ignored. So I reached forward and grabbed onto your shirt.
You turned around, shocked.
"Who are you?!" You demanded, before letting your eyes rest on the scarf around my neck.
"My scarf…" Suddenly, your eyes flash up, as if you suddenly remembered something, something important.
"You! The girl from the forest! (L/n)-chan!"
My heart was pounding rapidly and tears welled up in my eyes. You remembered me!
Just as I was about to respond, a bodyguard quickly pulled you away.
"Fubuki-san, your plane is leaving soon."
"W-Wait!" You broke free of the bodyguard, took my hand and pulled me along.
"She's coming with me."
All I could do with run after you and try to control my blush.
In the plane, you turned to me and started bombarding me with questions.
"Why do you exactly the same?"
"Why do you have my scarf?"
"Why are you here?"
I ran my fingers through my hair.
"Well, this is what happened…"
Fubuki blinked as (f/n) finished her story.
"You… Did all of that… For me?"
The girl sitting next to him nodded.
Fubuki smiled gently.
"Thank you."
And his lips met hers.
I hope you enjoyed this story, Shiranai-san!
