When People talk to Kala she will be referred to her Earth name Claire but when no one's talking it's her Kryptonian name Kala
Chapter Three: Kryptonite and Crumbling Tradition's
Kala pulled a pair of kitchen shears from the cabinet gently setting down her flowers. Strategically she vertically cut an inch off their ends, before carefully placing them in a crystal vase.
"Those are very beautiful Claire''. Kala jumped startled seeing her Ma walk into the kitchen. Martha smiled slightly at her daughter's jumpiness as she came up behind her. Taking a dish cloth she sweeps Kala's mess into the garbage bin.
"So those were from Mr. Luthor"? Martha flippantly asked, silently marveling at the odd colors of the roses. Kala blushed a pretty pink shaking her head in denial.
"No, they're just from a friend". She brushed a piece of hair away from her face, carrying the vase out of the back door with her.
"Is this friend a good friend Claire"? Martha had pulled Kala up short. Why in the world and God's above did her Ma have to always ask the hardest questions? It really astounded her to no end. Kala just shrugged her shoulders with no comment.
"So, who's the pretty broad". Jeremy leaned against the balls of his feet hands behind his head, as he studied his boss carefully. Oliver sat at his desk sorting through papers, throwing unimportant documents in shredder with an odd glint in his eyes as he watched it shred (DIE PAPERWORK DIE).
"No one important, I was just thanking her for something she did for me". Oliver stated coolly not looking in his PA's eyes, not cracking. Jeremy's eyebrow's furrowed lips pursing in thought. His brown eyes lit in a mischievous light as he came to an idea.
"So you don't care much for her then"? Jeremy asked airily. Oliver looked suspiciously at him setting down the files he'd been holding. Shrugging in in difference he waited, knowing his friend had something that he'd probably regret listening to later.
"Well then I'll go back and tell Luthor he might have a chance with her". Oliver swiftly stood up knocking over his Gatorade. Oh Hell no, none of that Lex shit again.
"What". He growled eyes flashing, Jeremy just wiggled his nose at him skipping away Oliver following closely behind. Oliver knew Kala was a hundred percent loyal to him. But he also knew she had a problem with wanting to save everyone. Lex in his opinion wasn't worth it.
"Wait"! He hollered after Jeremy sprinting to catch up. Oliver wanted to know what he'd seen. What was that Luthor spawn doing to his Kala?
"What happened"? Jeremy stopped just by the opening elevator to wink at Oliver.
"Luthor was hitting on that pretty little farm girl". At his words, Oliver let out a tiny growl. "You might want to hurry if you want to catch your Prince Charming Princess". Jeremy bowed at his Bosses annoyed look.
"Tootles I've got your errands to run Missy"! Jeremy was gone before Oliver could retort. What did he do to deserve such a mentally unstable assistant? Jere was really cutting the thin line to sanity.
Shouldering her book bag, Kala rolled her eyes fondly at Chloe's goodbye. She was planning to stay after school late to finish her article. Kala had missed Chloe's obsession with the perfect story. After Lois had taken up that pedestal, her best friend had pretty much stopped her journalism mantra. It was nice to see her this way again.
"HEY KENT"! Kala looked up to see the head cheerleader Whitney Fordman and her football goons following behind her. Tilting her head in curiosity she tried to think back. She hadn't remembered this happening. Wait! Her eyes widened but it was too late. She'd been caught in Whitney's borrowed necklace's capacity.
"The football team has been brainstorming who the new Scarecrow should be". Two burly guy's came up behind her, each grabbing an arm holding her still. Kala couldn't pull away; her super strength was all gone. All compliments of Lana's necklace Whitney had obviously borrowed. The Kryptonite weakened her horribly.
"So I thought who better then Claire Kent nerd extraordinaire". Whitney sneered at Kala flicking an invisible piece of dirt off of her uniform.
"At first the team refused feeling more comfortable with a guy like Pete Ross". Kala scowled at that comment, Pete didn't deserve this.
"But then I got them thinking, the first girl ever to be the Scarecrow. This will go down in Smallville High history". Kala glared at Whitney's nasty smirk. How in Ra's name did Whitney ever turn out good?
"You should be thankful Kent, if we didn't do this small favor for you you'd never be remembered by anyone in this school". Whitney simpered at Kala's snarl. She was ready to freaking throttle this Bitch.
Lex slowly strolled down edge of the cornfield a thoughtful frown edging onto his face. This was where he was found all those years ago after the meteor shower. Bald cowering underneath the fallen corn, scared without his bastard of a father to comfort him. This was where he heard that poor boy being hazed. Wait what was that?
"Hel..p. heee..ll". It was there again, that weak voice different but with the same urgency. Hell, he thought quickly sprinting through the row's to find its source.
"Wholly God and Devil's below". Lex breathed taking in the girl who was the bane of his curiosity. She was in the same pinch as that boy so many years ago. This town had some ate up tradition's. Claire was hung like a scarecrow; her white shirt had a sloppy painted "S" dripping down her pants. But the scary thing was she looked so much worse off than that other guy. Sickly!
"Take it off". She murmured barely awake and colorant. Lex looked at her confused and panicked quickly going to her side.
"What"? He asked urgently, pulling a Swiss army knife from his pocket to cut the ropes.
"The…necklace all…ergic". She gasped pathetically falling forward as the roped fell away. Lex caught Claire quickly flipping her around to see a beautiful necklace with a green glowing stone. Meteor rock! Lex had seen his father's scientist's work with small samples in the lab. He hadn't known it was possible to be allergic of them. Quickly he ripped it off her neck, and threw it as far as he could.
"Thanks'". She muttered relieved shivering as he set her on the ground.
"Claire I'm going to call an ambulance, and your parent's just give me a moment". Lex pulled out his phone, but surprisingly was stopped by a slowly steading hand.
"Don't". Kala rasped; she could feel herself getting stronger with the absence of the Kryptonite.
"Claire your hurt you need help". Lex gently reassured her realizing he was strangely being out of character.
"I'm fine really, that crap just wind's me for God knows what reason. Just keep this to yourself". Kala attempted a smile knowing she still looked pained on the outside. Lex looked at her imploringly; he could admit she seemed to be getting color back. This just raised his curiosity more, but he pushed it back for later.
"If that's what you want, but you should at least let me call someone". Lex was worried, this was the first time he was worried about someone other than himself in such a long time.
"Its fine really, Ollie will kill me if he finds out". Kala muttered the last not noticing Lex had heard. Who in the Hell was "Ollie"?
