Trafalgar 'Surgeon of Death' Law, Shichibukai
After proving his worth by unbelievably sending a hundred hearts in the Main Navy Headquarters, pirate captain and Supernova Trafalgar Law is now the latest addition to the slowly dwindling in number Royal Shichibukai exactly seven months after the Marineford War and Marshall D. Teach's...
Bepo put the newspaper down and looked at the group of men who were all grinning goofily at his funny reaction. True to it, the bipedal polar bear's mouth was agape, his beady black eyes wider than the usual, and, much to his crewmates' glee, some of his fur stood on end as if a cold shiver was creeping up his spine. Once more, he looked at the frontpage, the infamous smirk of his captain staring back up at him with the all familiar lazy gaze.
Behind him, Shachi and Penguin both clapped a hand on the polar bear's shoulders, chortling as Bepo expressed his surprise at their captain's achievement. "I'm sorry,"he quickly apologized as a gloomy atmosphere hung over him. The group laughed.
When one of the crew picked the paper and brandished it like some sort of a talisman, Bepo blinked and stood up from his seat and took the newspaper from the man and walked out of the galley. He listened as his crewmates yelled something about drinking, their boisterous laughter the last thing he clearly heard as he moved farther from the galley and off to the captain's room.
Trafalgar Law sleepily pulled the covers off of him and sat up on his bed as his navigator woke him up. The two exchanged goodmorning's and regarded each other with a smile. Bepo handed the man the newspaper before the latter could even get out of his bed. He watched as the young pirate's lips stretched out in a wide, triumphant smile.
"You did it, captain,"said Bepo in a congratulatory tone, his voice full of pride at the man's achievement. Law tore his eyes away from the paper and regarded the bear with a wider smile.
"No, Bepo. We did. All of us did."
Bepo perked up at the hint of gratitude he sensed from the captain's voice. His ears twitched a little and his mouth opened in a smile, black eyes twinkling with happiness and mirroring the young man's own. All those months they worked for and the sacrifices they did paid off. From a distance, he could faintly hear his crewmates' celebration.
"It starts here, Bepo. You all know what this means,"Law said, smile slowly disappearing. The polar bear instantly felt dread at the thought, the last of his euphoria gone without a trace. The plan, of course, he thought. What if things went wrong? What if nothing went out as planned? Bepo hid his fear, suddenly ashamed for letting the emotion blossom in his chest. Steeling and reminding himself that his captain was strong and knew what he was doing, the polar bear nodded. He must put his faith on his captain, despite the future odds that will be stacked against them.
"Aye, captain."
