The Doctor had spent the entire day sitting cross-legged in the TARDIS' console room, staring at a tiny glowing phone screen, texting none other than River Song. He literally had not moved from his crisscross position for hours. And what was worse, he seemed to insist on vocalizing his emotions every single time he received a text.
Meanwhile, Amy and Rory were slumped at the top of the stairs staring at him, their vision practically glazed over. By now, Amy's chin was resting in her hands. Her husband's head was lying in her lap. He sighed. Loudly.
"Why have I got the feeling we won't be leaving the TARDIS very soon?"
"No, no," Amy mumbled, "I've got that too.Definitely got that feeling."
PING
The Doctor practically giggled, making an inhuman (er, Time Lord) sound.
"Oooh, VERY good!" he enthused, and immediately began typing again.
"I almost wish we never bought him that phone last Christmas," Amy said, still starring at her alien bow-tie wearing friend with an unreadable expression. "Not like he doesn't already see her every night while we're asleep."
"Don't you ever worry why he's giggling like that?" Rory asked.
PING
The Time Lord snorted, and quickly wiped his nose before typing again.
"I mean," he continued, "that is our daughter he's texting..."
Amy's brows furrowed. "Rory, this is the Doctor. He doesn't even know how to kiss people properly!"
"And you would know this because...?"
PING
"Ohhh, that is HOT!" the Doctor exclaimed from across the room. Both Ponds starred over at him, eyes widening a bit.
"I'm sure there's-" Rory began...
"Perfectly..." his wife spluttered. "A perfectly innocent explanation..."
"Rory look!" their friend shouted over at them, shaking his new phone in the air. "River's on the volcano planet of Radcon 5! I can practically feel the heat radiating off this picture of its super radioactive lava flows!"
"Yeah, told you," Amy murmured, leaning her head down into Rory's hair. "Should we tell him now or later?"
"What?"
Her head snapped up. "Rory, when I bought him that phone, I didn't buy him unlimited data!" she whispered into his ear hastily.
"Oh... Later, then. Definitely later."
She again rested her head down on Rory's, and continued to watch the Doctor text.
PING
"Hah...! Gotcha!"
