Chapter 27
Two Years Later…
Regina stood on the balcony overlooking the kingdom. It was surprising at how well the people accepted her. Perhaps it was because of her grandfather or her father she didn't know. She managed to turn this kingdom around and make it prosper.
Her life really changed for the better. She had more friends and her relationship with Snow improved. She was happy and more importantly, she loved herself. She forgave herself for her past.
She turned around to see Robin's sleeping form. She smiled. That man was surely a blessing in her life and he put up with all her craziness and rarely complained. She walked over to him. She pressed a kiss to his forehead and walked out the room.
She went down the hall and walked through the double doors. A huge grin displayed on her face as she saw her daughter standing up in the crib.
"What are you doing?" she asked in her baby voice. She picked up her daughter, Elizabeth, who giggled in her mother's embrace. Regina laughed. "Oh, I think I know. You are excited to see your big sister and her daughter, Emma. Aren't you?" she asked tickling her tummy.
Elizabeth laughed louder and Regina tapped her nose. "You don't want to wake daddy, do you?"
"Too late," Robin said from behind as he watched from the doorway. He never got tired of seeing Regina holding and playing with their daughter.
He approached them. "I reached for you before I realized you were gone. Now I know you just deserted me for someone else," he joked.
She rolled her eyes. "Don't worry archer. I'm not leaving you although if a better offer comes along…
Robin took Elizabeth out of her arms. "Mama is being silly." Elizabeth rested her head on Robin's shoulder. "Sleepy huh? Let's put you back in your crib." He set her down and they just looked at her admiring their miracle.
"She gets more beautiful every day," he said before turning to her. "Just like you."
"Thank you and she is going to be one of the fairest women in the kingdom," she said.
"Don't remind me," Robin said his voice sounding annoyed. "Thankfully those years are far away."
Regina pecked his cheek. "You'll survive."
"So when is Snow coming with Emma?" he asked.
"Mid-morning. It's hard reconciling I'm a grandmother and a mother again," she admitted.
Robin pulled her close to him. "You are the hottest grandmother I've ever seen."
"Shut up…but it's true," she said.
"How modest my queen," he said. She laughed.
"It's time to go back to bed," she said and headed towards the door.
She laid her head down his chest. "Robin," she called.
"Mmm," he responded.
"I don't know if I've told you lately but I love you so much," she said.
He tightened his grip. "I love you too."
"No. I mean I really do love you," she said. He loosened his grip and sat up causing her to reposition her body.
"Regina, what is it?" he asked.
"Nothing. I'm just thinking about everything that's happened in these past two years and I'm grateful. I never thought I would have you again. Sometimes I find it hard to believe."
Robin caressed her cheek. "Well believe it because I'm not going anywhere. Us. Elizabeth. This is our happy ending and you know what makes it special…we fought for it."
