(Author's Note)
And finally this story ends. I hope you guys liked it. I really enjoyed writing it myself. I'll try to post other stuff tomorrow, once I've finished a bit of the after prelims homework (Why does my college always provide those?)
Finale "I did it…"
New York, a very fine city I should say, despite its overpopulation. It's also very bright at night thanks to all the lights there, but tonight was exceptionally brighter thanks to this crowd with their flashing cameras. They seemed to be gathered in a tall skyscraper, not the Empire State Building sadly. On the summit, a sign labeled "Stark Industries" was lit.
Inside the building, Phineas was suiting up his black coat and fixing his tie while looking at his reflection. He looked more nervous than usual. The cheers of the crowd right outside the doors of the building. He looked to the doorways and gulped. He put his right hand in his right pocket and imagined ARChie to be there. But he realized it was a mistake trying to remember her.
Ferb was next to him, tying his tie in a complicated yet fashionable manner while looking at his own reflection. He checked his breath and smiled at himself when he knew he was ready. He checked on Phineas, and gave a concerned look. He put his hand on his right shoulder. Phineas turned to him and put on a fake smile. Ferb gently pushed his right chest to position him face front and fixed his tie.
"I wish Isabella was here." He said miserably.
Once Ferb was done, he stretched each end of Phineas's mouth to make him smile. Phineas looked at his stepbrother endearingly and embraced him with one arm.
"Thanks Ferb." He said.
Ferb returned the hug in the same way. Phineas released Ferb faced the doors.
"Well… it's showtime!"
They were welcomed with wild cheers from the crowd and the camera flashes. Phineas' confidence was suddenly boosted. There were in fact tons of flying cameras, each taking a picture of Phineas. He recalled the time when he presented his second model of "ARChie" to the public and the time when their small shipments of those models have been sold out. There was a podium just by the steps. He looked at Ferb, who waved his hand and refused to join him. He walked to the podium alone instead.
He tapped the microphone. "Hello?" He checked.
The crowd settled from their hysteria upon hearing his voice through the speakers.
"Well, thank you very much ladies and gentlemen for coming here." He said politely.
The crowd cheered again.
Phineas chuckled. "Okay okay, settle down guys."
The crowd silenced.
"Thank you! Well before we start with the introduction, we'd like to thank Mr. Stark! He was our beloved mentor and inspiration, and we are honored to continue the legacy of inventing great things. Also, we'd like to thank him deeply for his support, for lending us this location to continue our work as one of his last wishes. So if you please, let's take a moment of silence to honor him."
There was silence. Phineas prayed for the brilliant inventor that tragically passed so suddenly. He also thanked him silently for being the answer to their problems, when no one at first accepted their works. If he were still alive and if Phineas had any medical expertise, he would've thought of a safer way to extract the toxins from the Iron Man's blood. But there were some last words from Stark that made him not regret what happened.
"Let's just get to the part where they embed my name in gold… and worship me."
Phineas chuckled silently. "May he rest in peace."
"So, me and Ferb have a surprise for you guys."
The crowd wowed and muttered in excitement.
"If you guys would look up to that sign on top, you'll see what I'm talking about. And… before you make any violent reactions, I would like to say that Mr. Stark would've been proud of it. Trust me, we spoke with him personally. So without further ado, hit it Ferb!"
There was a lever switch next to Ferb and he pushed it down. Lights around the skyscraper blacked out, surprising the audience. From the bottom of the building lights were flickering one by one upwards, as if it was signifying a launch sequence. Once the lights reached the sign, it blacked out. A sparkling outline rose on top of it. A few seconds later the sign spectacularly lit itself and shot fireworks around. The sign read "Flynn-Fletcher Industries", replacing the old name. The crowd cheered wildly and celebrated the new sign. They chanted their names.
"It looks good right?!" Asked Phineas.
"Yeeeeesssss!" Yelled the crowd.
Soon the lights in the city went back to life. There was a TV screen on top of the doors, which showed Phineas on the podium.
Phineas chuckled. "Thank you, thank you. Now if you guys don't know what this company's about I'll make a bit of an intro. What my brother and I dreamed of when we were making this company was… a world of progress, where each nation is thriving to bring itself for independence and peace. We also dreamed of happier people, people who don't just work for the sake living, but people who would love the life they're living and, at the same time, would share that life with other people. Now, because of that, we built this company, whose mission is to make the lives of everyone more fun and exciting through our inventions. Also, when times get hard, especially when feeding the kids would metaphorically mean collecting the dirt on the floor, we aim to give your job as much comfort as lying down on a king sized bed."
The audience applauded.
"And… by the looks of things, you guys are enjoying it. You guys liked AR2y (ar-tee) right?"
"Yeeeessss!" Yelled the crowed.
The cameras named AR2y flew in loops. The crowd cheered even louder.
"Well thanks guys! That means a lot! By the way, there's plenty more where that came from."
The crowd cheered.
Phineas chuckled. "And we've also got some new stuff too, not just cameras."
The crowd howled.
"Well, I guess that's pretty much it I have to say about the company. Now, I'd like to make some acknowledgements. I'd like to thank Ferb, my lifelong partner in crime, who has supported me with his best. Without that guy over there, this company wouldn't have been made possible. Give him a round of applause guys!"
Phineas pointed at Ferb. The crowd cheered and applauded. Ferb bowed in return.
"I'd like to thank my family, yeah those guys in front."
Linda, Lawrence, and the Johnsons waved at him.
"I'd like to thank my mom… for being the best mom I could ever have. With all her heart she raised a big nosed freak like me..." The audience laughed. "... And supported me through all my troubles, financially and personally. Give her a round of applause guys!"
Linda shed a tear and held her hands close to her chest. The crowd applauded.
"Secondly I'd like to thank my dad. Even if he is my stepdad he still treated me like I was one of his own. He raised me up to become a good man. I don't know what I'd be if he didn't marry my mom."
The crowd awed. Linda and Lawrence kissed each other.
"Give him a round of applause guys!"
The crowd applauded.
"Lastly, I'd like to thank my one of a kind and the craziest sister I ever had. All those times, I didn't understand why she was so fixated with what my brother and I do, until I realized that she was only watching over me like a real hawk eyed sister."
Candace stuck her tongue out playfully. The crowd chuckled a bit.
"But there's more to her than that. At times when I really needed someone to talk to on topics like college, bullies… and especially about a girl in particular, she was there to toughen me up. Yes, it was a tough kind of brother and sister relationship. But even so, it helped me overcome my trials and weaknesses. I'm really proud to call you my sister Candace."
Candace shed a tear. Jeremy and Amanda hugged her in endearment.
"Well, I guess that's it. Any questions before my bro and I cut the ribbon?"
One of the news reporters raised their hand.
"Yes…" He was fascinated to realize who the asker was. "…Cheyenne?"
Cheyenne winked. "Wasn't there any other source of inspiration you'd like to acknowledge?"
Phineas was a bit confused by the question. "No. Did I forget somebody Ferb?"
Ferb shrugged his shoulders.
"But you did mention something about… a girl in particular… right?"
Phineas blushed. The crowd muttered in excitement. Phineas smiled bashfully and scratched his ear.
"Well… Did I Ferb?"
Ferb nodded and smirked.
Phineas sighed in defeat. "Well… yeah, there was this one other person that has motivated me immensely. In fact… she's been my best friend ever since we were toddlers."
"Oooooh!" Said the crowd in excitement.
Phineas chuckled. "I didn't know back then until my brother told me but… she was actually crazy for me. So crazy, that by the age of eight… she started having fantasies about us. I was only a boy, innocent and too immature to even understand the concept of romance, which disappointed her. But to me, she was like my "BFF", as the girls say it. We did crazy stuff together, we rode the roller coaster, rounded up some cattle, rode a safari through Africa, anything! You name it, we did it! Then all of a sudden, when it finally hit me in thirteen… I got crazy for her too. So crazy, that I started building some stuff dedicated to her. When she left for Mexico that same year, I was really sad… but that craziness never left me… even if I did have my first girlfriend. In fact… my life went crazier when she came back after five years. I dated her… and even kissed her before she left for her flight back for some personal reasons. BTW, that event was written in news history. From then on… life never was the same for me."
The crowd awed.
Phineas blushed harder. "I should really thank her… for everything she's done; for befriending me, for accepting me… and for believing that I could be something great." He took a moment of silence. "So… wherever she is, either watching the TV now or probably studying for her board exams… I hope you feel the same way too… and I really wish we'd meet again… someday. If it wasn't for you… Isabella… I wouldn't be the person I am now."
Sniffing could be heard from the crowd. Phineas pulled out a handkerchief and wiped away a tear.
"Well… anymore questions?"
No one called his attention.
"Oh! Well, thanks again guys for coming! Want us to fetch the scissors?"
"Yes!" Yelled the crowd.
A spotlight shined down in the middle of the crowd, showing the giant scissors resting on an easel-like stand. Ferb joined his brother on going down the steps and through the crowd to fetch it. Along the way Phineas heard the news reporters do their job by relaying the course of events. He focused harder on their speeches.
"And here comes Mr. Flynn and Mr. Fletcher to fetch the scissors to cut the ribbon…."
"….He looks so excited to get that ribbon cut…"
"….Could you believe it? An inventor this young…"
"…This could be another age of greatness coming to us…."
"…I'm Janice Williams…"
"…See you again 'til the next Watcha doin news!"
That last quote stunned Phineas. His hands were shaking in excitement upon hearing that voice. He slowly turned his head to the left… and there she was.

His eyes widened in disbelief. Involuntarily he stepped forward. He took a deep breath and walked towards the woman in the midnight blue dress holding the mic.
Everybody keeps…
He gently pushed the crowds apart. His eyes were so fixated at her, one reason why was that he didn't want to lose sight of her. Isabella was talking to Ginger, the camerawoman. Somebody shined the spotlight on Phineas. Ferb noticed Phineas' absence. He looked for him and realized what he was doing. Ginger noticed Phineas and pointed to him. Isabella slowly turned around.
Oh I can't believe…
Their eyes locked at once. Neither of them smiled. They were too surprised to see each other.
"Hey!" Phineas managed to mutter.
Isabella was also fumbling for the right word. "H-hey!"
The two couldn't even think of the right thing to say next. Phineas closed the gap between them and breathed deeply and softly. He suddenly noticed that he was being watched.
…I'm fine (Pause music)
He looked at Ginger, who was pointing the camera towards them. He realized they were being broadcasted and looked at the large TV screen that was on the skyscraper, showing the couple. A smile crept on his face as a crazy idea came up to his mind. He brought his right hand to Isabella's left cheek.
"You're a reporter now right?" He asked.
A smile also crept in Isabella's face. Weakly, she nodded in response.
Phineas' smile grew. "Well I got a headline for you."
Without warning he pulled Isabella closer and kissed her.
(Play Music) So baby…
Phineas' closed his eyes while Isabella's eyes widened from the sudden action. Eventually she also closed her eyes and sank into the bliss she longed for. Phineas kissed her slowly, and repeatedly. Their minds were spinning, and their hearts skipped beats. Phineas flashbacked to all those times they kissed, from that time in the airport to that time on that tree.
Finally they broke. Phineas smiled and Isabella giggled.
When you got a good thing.
You know…
Phineas shut his eyes and embraced Isabella very tight, causing the crowd to cheer wildly. With trembling arms, Isabella embraced Phineas back. Phineas swayed her gently while enjoying her warmth. Isabella let a tear out and slowly shut her eyes. The crowd continued to cheer wildly. Ferb was next to Gretchen and in a friendly way he put his arm around her and together they watched the couple enjoy their bliss.
I Know…
ARChie then suddenly flew out of Isabella's pocket without her notification and joined the AR2ys in taking pictures. The couple danced slowly under the spotlight, and with all the flashing cameras.
"Spotlight? Cameras?... To me, they looked like Christmas lights sparkling at prom night. And the crowd… they weren't there. It was really late at night and everyone left except us. I imagined that this was the prom king and queen dance I was giving to Isabella. Yeah that's on my mind now, and I'm pretty sure Isabella's thinking of some weird fantasy about us right now."
We got a….
"Hey! I bet you guys have a lot of questions like… why didn't I come after her in the first place? Well… to tell you the truth… I was keeping my promise. I moved on with life for her. I did my best not to look back, and endured life without her the best I could. But at the same time… I waited for her to come back… for us to finally… be us."
Hold on to…
"That grand gesture I did in the airport… was totally worth it. It was worth getting arrested, and at the same time it was really fun. I really loved her back then… and even until now. I don't think our next meeting would be like this if I didn't do it."
"And hey! I didn't just do it For a Friend…. I did it For love."
When you got a Good thing.
