Chapter Ten:
When the next morning came around, Harry felt like his head was pounding with information. The day before had been completely and inexplicably insane. First Draco and then Sirius. He had a lot to process. Shaking his head lightly he reached for his glasses next to him. He heard the loud snores telling him that Ron was still asleep next to him. Sitting up, he put his glasses on his face and looked at the window which had light coming through it. On the ground in front of it, Draco sat as if he had fallen asleep looking up at the stars. His eyes were closed lightly and his face was leaned against the window seal. His knees were bent to his chest and his arms were cross over his lap lightly. Harry could now see the split lip on his face and the small cut upon his forehead and sighed.
He stood up lightly and stretched heading down the stairs where he could hear Mrs. Weasely humming in the kitchen as she no doubt was making a large welcome breakfast. Sure enough, the table was covered with fresh pancakes and eggs, bacon, sausages, biscuits, and all the sweets and syrups Harry could think up-for being poor the Weasely family sure did a good job of keeping food on the table. Mostly because their mother was so good at home made items.
"Good morning Mrs. Weasely." Harry said softly causing the red head mother to jump.
"Oh! Harry dear its so nice to see you!" She said loudly leaving the pans she was cleaning to clean themselves and hug Harry tightly. "I'm glad you made it here just in time for school shopping." She flitted back over the the sink. "Everyone else should be getting up shortly, we will have breakfast and then of to Diagon Alley. Right?"
"Yes thank you." He said with a smile. "Mrs. Weasely, I hope Draco being here isn't too much of a problem."
"No. No. Though he and Ron did come to blows. Everything is okay though." She stopped and sighed. "That poor boy, Harry..He was mumbling about his father and kept.." She seemed like she couldn't continue and shuddered a bit. "Anyways, it will do him good to have you and the others as friends. To show him some compassion."
"He's not who we thought he was Mrs. Weasely." Harry said simply before he heard noises coming down the stairs. He was suddenly bombarded by the entire Weasely family hugging him and slapping his back in hello. At the end of the group, Ron and Draco came down the stairs-Ron looking as if he just climbed out of bed (because he probably did) and Draco having already put every hair into place. He was all about good impressions after all.
They all came and gathered around the table to sit and eat. Draco sat next to Harry and put a few things upon his plate before doing what Harry knew better than anyone-he made it look like he was eating by pushing the food around his plate and cutting it into smaller pieces. The conversation around the table went to the excitement of returning to Hogwarts in the next few days. They were happy to know which teachers would they have, and which classes they would enjoy the most. Draco was quiet through most of it smiling and nodding when someone spoke to him and giving small answers.
Once they were finished with their food, Mrs. Weasely sent them all off to get ready for the trip to Diagon Alley. In just over an hour the entire group was standing at the fireplace ready to go.
"Okay, one last thing before we go now dears." Mrs. Weasely said with a soft smile at Draco. "Sweetheart, I'm going to cast a simple glamor spell on you for your safety while we are out."
"Understood." He said softly in reply as she raised her wand and muttered softly. Harry watched as Draco's features changed to tanner skin and sleek black hair, his eyes also became a deep brown. He looked entirely normal, rather than regal and defined like the Malfoy features appeared.
"Okay, now. We all know where we are meeting Hermione correct?" Mrs. Weasely said as she picked up the floo powder and went along the line letting everyone gather some as they nodded. "Okay let's go."
One by one, they went through the floo and were sent to Diagon Alley. Each in turn stepped out of the fireplaces and headed to Flourish and Blotts where Hermione was waiting for them. Harry waited until everyone else had gone through and it was just he and Draco in the Burrow. "You want to go first?"
Draco looked at him and nodded. "Okay, I can." He said softly stepping into the ashes. He looked at Harry and they met eyes for a split second before Draco threw his Floo at his feet and yelled. "Diagon Alley." In a rush the blonde was gone and Harry found himself suddenly very eager to get through to everyone else. He stepped in following everyone's lead and flooed over. He tumbled out of the fireplace, still having difficultly with his landing and looked up to see Draco shaking his head.
"After six years in the Wizarding World, you would think you had learned to do this properly." He offered the Gryffindor a had and pulled him up. Harry blushed and shook the soot out of his hair.
"I just am not able to stick the landing." Harry said in reply.
"Trust me, I understand from they way you've landed in Quidditch Matches it doesn't surprised me." Draco smirked, which looked odd on his glamored face. "Where are we supposed to be meeting everyone?"
"Over here." Harry said leading the way. When they walked up, Harry knew from Hermione's lack of surprise that someone had already told her about Malfoy and that he wouldn't look like himself. She hugged Harry tightly and looked at the Slytherin hesitantly before sticking out her hand. Draco took his lightly and shook it-and to everyone's surprised did not have a look of disgust or a remark about touching a mudblood on his lips.
"So, Harry. How was your summer?" Hermione asked happily.
"Same as always, Mione. Well, with a little twist I guess." Harry gestured towards Draco. "Other than that same old, same old."
"Well, at least school is going to start soon. Have you gotten all your school books yet?" She asked gesturing to her bag. "I just picked up mine. Thankfully they fit in my bag since I can't use magic and extend it outside of school."
"How many books did you get?" Ron said looking at her bulging bag.
"Oh, just..17." She said counting them out lightly in her head.
"17?" Harry and Ron replied in unison.
"Yes, just because you all do the bare minimum to get by doesn't mean the rest of us have to." She said crossing her arms. "Besides, most of them are just for light reading."
"Yeah, sure." Ron said elbowing Harry. "Hey lets go buy some snacks for the shopping." They started to head towards the Twins shop. Draco had never known that they opened their own place. He remembered briefly of their selling trinkets and candies during their year at Hogwarts last, but never knew they planned to make an entire business of it. All in all, he was very impressed as he walked about the shop.
"Where is he?!" Voldemort's voice rang through the house as his hand connected with Lucius Malfoy's face harshly.
"I do not know my Lord." The man stuttered over and over. "I am sorry my Lord, he has vanished. He left the house and has not come back."
"Find him! Find him you idiot!" The Dark Lord hissed in anger. "You know how important that boy is, how could you let him trump around so carelessly!"
He pointed his wand at Lucius. "Crucio." The blonde man grunted having learned many years ago to not scream in pain in front of the Dark Lord. After all it would only make things worse.
"You will find him, or you will die for your mistakes." Voldemort barred his teeth and spoke softly in parsel tongue calling Nagina to his side. "You will feed me snake if you fail, do you understand?"
Lucius did his best to nod and felt the curse release. He panted slightly as sweat beaded off of his forehead. Voldemort turned from him and looked out the window to the house down the street.
"Number Four...Privet Drive." He chuckled softly. "He had been hiding there all these years and I barely find out now while hiding from the man that stuck him there." He snarled. "And now he has taken the one thing that will withstand my exsistence in this world!" He turned to Bellatrix who stood in the doorway. "Send word to everyone with children in Hogwarts. I want them to bring Draco back. Do whatever they must. Torture him, beat him, anything to break him and his resolve. Show him that he is not strong enough and no good for the light. Make him come..crawling back to us."
