Drabble Three: Marmalade Boy

Kagome blinked as she looked at her cousin, she didn't expect her to rant this much. Sure, she asked her what was wrong, but she wasn't expecting..this.

Miki looked at her and Kagome sighed, she knew she wanted advice for her situation. She was starting to have feelings for her stepbrother, and she had to admit their living situation wasn't something normal.

Then again, her aunt and uncle had always been pretty open and welcoming of everything. This situation wouldn't be something they wouldn't approve of...if anything they would end up liking it.

Looking at Miki she gave her a small smile, "Do you think what you are doing is bad? You two aren't related by blood and there is nothing against marrying your stepbrother. No law or anything..." She held her hand up when Miki was about to interrupt,

"I am not saying you will get married, but it could happen down the road if things progress between the two of you..and from the sounds of it, Yuu, has feelings for you too." taking a deep breath she felt a bitter feeling of not being able to be with her loved one anymore, "If you love him, you will have to go through a lot to be with him. There will be people who oppose the two of you in a relationship, but the only thing that matters is what the two of you feel for each other.

Miki looked down at her folded hands, "But...what about our parents...friends...what would people think..." She didn't want to disappoint or make anyone uncomfortable.

Kagome didn't say anything but moved to set a hand on her cousins head, "If you two truly love each other, it won't matter what anyone else things. You will do whatever it takes to be together..." She gave a small smirk, "Besides I think Auntie would love for you to marry Yuu...she had made comments on the two of you before"

Miki sighed, "But..."

Kagome hushed her, "Don't think too much." She poked her in the chest and looked her in the eyes, "just follow you heart and do what feels like...that is all you can do. Nothing else matters...alright?"

Miki nodded, though she wasn't totally convinced, but she did feel better talking to her cousin. She didn't like bringing problems to Kagome, but she was always the one who seemed to know what to say.

"Okay..." She gave a small smile, "Thank You...I better get home. I was here longer than I thought I would..."

Kagome nodded, and stood up, "Come by anytime. You know you are always welcome." MIki nodded, leaving the house with worries about Yuu but she would do as Kagome said, 'follow your heart' With a determined look on her face she raced home. She would stop avoiding Yuu and try to see where things went.

Kagome stood watching her cousin leave, a faraway look on her face, "I just hope you have better luck on the love department then me cousin." Her mind went to a dog demon who would forever have her heart, but would never give up his in return.
