Chapter 5: Lesson number 1
The silence was painfully deafening. Ever made it to the training room, the AVENGERS usually used, prepared for ..you know..training..or something. Not this...this...silence. Loki was here when she stepped in. Alone.
She put her gym bag on the floor and stood awaiting instruction before the door could even close, expecting orders to be given. What she got was his piercing gaze, no... more like glare. His arms crossed and legs braced apart she kept her eyes on his face. Scared to stare and be rude but too curious to look away. His face gave away nothing. And as the minutes ticked away she began to stop waiting for a hint to what he was thinking and started to notice how handsome he was. High, sharp cheakbones, green eyes and kissable lips. She flushed. He sneered. Beginning to give a look of complete disdain.
He slowly started to circle her. Never letting his look move from her. She left her gaze straight ahead. She stared at the wall across the room trying not to wonder what he's thinking and not allow herself to "hear " him. If he was sizing her up..let him, she thought. She felt his finger tips brush the back of her hair. She shivered. But not from fear. They fluttered over the back of her right hand as he came back around to stand in front of her again. She blinked. This time he was only a few inches away. She could feel his breath on her head but if she wanted to see his face again she would need to bend her head way back. At the moment however, she was staring at the breastplate of his Asgardian armour. The only thought in that moment was "He's way taller up close."
Loki's thoughts were more along the lines of "What the hell is wrong with this mortal?" He had been doing his best to intimidate her. To scare her. To attack her mind by thinking the worse thoughts imaginable. He was thinking of the most tortuous ways to kill her and she was blushing like a maiden. She had to be curious enough to read him. Humans are naturally so. And she had the power. The power to do it. Anyone would do it if they could. He would. No hesitation. He was thinking of taking her without her permission. Grabbing her by the hair and shoving his tounge down her throat. Hurting her with a smile on his face and...nothing. not even a flinch. He stared at the top of her head and spoke without intending to.
"Why?'
Her head whipped up to look him in the eyes.
"Why what?"
"You could have read me. Why didn't you?"
Her right hand briefly brushed the air and she tutted,
"That was out of respect. I didn't want to be rude"
He bent his head down till she could see the depths of his soul in his eyes. His grin was maniacal, "Lesson number one: I don't accept stupidity of any kind. It makes me, for lack of a better word, angry! You don't know me little girl. I could kill you with a flick of my wrist. It's ignorance and stupidity to not use what you have in your abilities to protect yourself and put yourself at an advantage with your enemies. Anyone could be a potential enemy."
"Even you?" Ever's chin raised slightly.
He took a step back. "Especially me."
