Kilppari: Nice fick, but are you sure that you are using Romani (gypsy) language and not Romania as Romania's official language. I am 9999 prosent sure that there is difference.
Me: Yes, I believe I never said I was using Romani, only Romanian, as the language is very secret and close guarded, so yes, I am using Romanian.
Moth165: OH MY GOODNESS! THAT WAS ADORABLE! I really love this! A LOT! ANYway…can the next chapter be about ROBIN/Richard Grayson? I'm sorry, but after Robin turned into Nightwing I threw my computer onto the floor and told myself I would never watch YJ season two again…This grudge still stands…seriously! It wouldn't even have been so bad if it had only been Robin's transformation…I probably could have dealt with that…BUT THEN THEY WENT AND replaced HIM! WITH ANOTHER ROBIN!…Sorry for my ranting…I just feel very strongly about this…I CAN'T WAIT FOR AN UPDATE! PLEASE POST AGAIN SOON! :D
Me: Hmmm, I do understand. But-and I don't mean to be rude-have you ever read the Batman comics, any of them? Or watched any of the cartoons? Dick couldn't stay Robin. Even if Bruce didn't fire him, which in some cases that is what happened, Dick would just eventually out grown Robin. His transformation from Robin to Nightwing shows how he's moving on from the hole 'Dynamic Duo' thing. The Robin in YJ season two is actually the third Robin, Tim Drake. The second Robin was Jason Todd. But the hole idea behind the whole 'taking up the mantle' is that Batman needs a Robin. Any ways, just something I felt I needed to say, but I understand, I did enjoy Rob in season one better than Nightwing.
So I thought to do a fic to sorta represent this, but don't worry! It's still centered around Dick!
:D Here you go!
Disclaimer: Me no own, you no sue
Robin sat in the corner of the holding cell quietly. He hadn't moved since he'd been brought here and he hadn't spoken, he even had refusd the food offered to him. He had no idea where he was-well, okay, he knew he was in a different dimension, but still, he was kind of freaking out. On the inside f course. On the out side he was all 'Yeah, I'm Robin, way to bad ass for all you wanna be's', but honestly, Bat's couldn't cover everything in training.
Well okay, he knew what he needed to do, how to do it. But he felt frozen. Unable to move.
Robin ran forward and jumped into the air, spinning he managed to get a good hit in on Klarion.
"You little brat! You'll pay!"
Suddenly Robin found himself being pulled into a swirling vortex. Darkness enveloped him as his team mates voices called after him, but he was long gone.
He'd woken up in the Watchtower. He knew because he could see the Earth through the windows. He also knew this was the Watchtower because with in seconds he'd been surrounded by the League. Questions and demands had been thrown back and forth. Robin had tried his best to put up a good front.
"Who are you?"
"Who are you?"
"How did you get in here?"
"What, you didn't see that Swirling Vortex of Doom dump me here?"
"Where are you from?"
"You're never going to believe me."
A silence.
"Well?"
He smirked. "My mom"
Robin had never ever been one to make such jokes, but as far as he could tell he was compromised and he needed to make sure these guys didn't know who he really was, just in case there was another Robin in this dimension.
"How old are you?"
"Take a wild guess"
It had been Flash who'd asked, or at least, this worlds Flash.
"Uh, geese, fifteen?"
Robin just scoffed. The assembled hero exchanged glances, but all attention turned when Batman, Superman and a hero in a balck and blue costume Robin didn't recognize showed up.
"What's going on here?"
Wonder Woman answered. "This boy appeared out of no where. We've asked him multiple questions but he keeps avoiding them"
Batman turned his gaze to him, but he didn't flinch. Like really, he'd slept with the guy before... he was nine years old, okay.
"Robin."
The Boy Wonder narrowed his eyes but kept his mouth shut. The hero in black and blue stared at him.
"That...makes sense actually. I mean it's all there. The 'R', the utility belt..."
Robin huffed. "Yeah, I bet you would know."
The hero smirked. "I do."
That was when he'd been thrown into his holding cell.
His head snapped up at the sound of light foot steps. It was the black and blue clad hero again.
"Okay, it looks like we've all come to agree that you are, in fact, a Robin."
A Robin...
"But, the question is, which one?"
Dick narrowed his eyes. "No."
"What?"
"To tell you who I am, considering that there is in fact a Batman in this dimension, means that I could possibly compromise the identity of another Robin from here."
The hero as silent for a moment. "Okay, I don't normally do this, in fact I never have done this before...but Bat's and I both agree on who we think you are and..."
The hero opened the holding cell and walked in, closing it behind him. He walked forward till he was in front of Robin and then sat down.
"Numele meu este Nightwing" My name is Nightwing.
Robin inwardly groaned. Nope, couldn't be him sitting in front of well, himself. He put up his best confused face, but mixed it with his 'yeah I don't care face' with a pinch of his 'damn, this guy must be dealing spaghetti or something' face.
"Uhhhh, am I supposed to know what that means?"
Nightwing narrowed his eyes. Had they been wrong? But even so, all of his brothers certainly knew enough Romanian to get by. Maybe...
"Ești sigur? Deoarece alternativa de a-mi spui cine ești este pentru mine de a apuca masca. Nu vă faceți griji, singurii de aici care ar putea înțelege sunt mine și lilieci. Ceilalți s-au întors la Peștera Liliecilor." You sure? Because the alternative to telling me who you are is for me to grab your mask. Don't worry, the only ones here who could understand are me and Bats. The others are back at the Bat Cave.
Robin furrowed his eye brows. Well damn... Against his better judgement he replied.
"Spune-mi numele tău adevărat, și vă voi spune mea." Tell me your real name, and I'll tell you mine.
Nightwing smiled. "Progres! Deși, nu crezi ca as putea ghici, vreau să spun, drumul încă tânăr să aibă un frate lui." Progress! Although, don't you think I could guess, I mean, your still way to young to have any bro's.
"Când Flash ma întrebat dacă am fost cincisprezece ani am făcut un zgomot care trebuie să fi sunat ca o nici o sau ceva de genul asta." When Flash asked me if I was fifteen I made a noise that must have sounded like a no or something like that.
Nightwing frowned. "Deci ești cincisprezece atunci?" So you're fifteen then?
Robin nodded. Nightwing shrugged and smiled before reaching up and peeling off his mask. Robin couldn't help but stare at the crystal blue eyes that stared right back. Robin nodded slowly and took note of the fact that Nightwing didn't put on his mask again right away. Robin wasn't stupid, he knew that Nightwing had sat down where he did so that none of the cameras could see him. He sighed, really, and he'd figured thid out earlier. He needed to be sitting where Nightwing was right now.
He bit his lip. "Dick...Grayson. But I'm not taking off my mask. I don't think I-"
Nightwing held up his hand. "It's cool, I totally get it." He placed his mask back on and stood. "Coming?"
And together the two Grayson's left the holding cell.
Robin shifted uncomfortably in front of the League, but found comfort in his older counter part.
"So what will you do with him now?"
Batman turned to answer Superman's question.
"Were taking him back to the manor for now, but after that..."
The Man of Steel nodded. Batman turned and entered the Zeta, quickly followed by Nightwing and Robin.
When Robin arrived in the Bat Cave he noticed two things. First, the entire cave had been switched around. It was as if he was looking into a mirror. Second was that, he, Batman, and Nightwing were not alone. There were seven other people there. Alfred he recognized immediately. Next to him were three girls. One on a wheel chair that shared a lot of resemblance to his class mate Barbra. The next one was in a black and purple suit with a gold bat on it. She had blond hair and she wasn't wearing a mask, so he could clearly see her blue eyes. The third girl was wearing an all black suit with a bat out lined in gold on the front. She had stark black hair and brown eyes, as she was also not wearing a mask.
Standing a little off from them was a boy shorter than him, most likely younger too, wearing a very different Robin uniform than his own. His hair was spiked, in a way, and sort of messy and he was wearing a green mask.
A few feet from him was a much taller boy, most likely older than him self. His hair was a bit long and his eyes were a piercing blue. A sudden thought struck him. He recognized this boy. Maybe...
And last but not least was a tall boy, taller than Nightwing, who looked nothing like he belonged here. From his boots to his coat. Motorcycle fetish or something... He had brown hair and green eyes. It couldn't be...
Nightwing nudged him forward. He followed as he and the blue and black clad hero walked up to the group. Batman had already gotten there and had taken hi cowl off, seating himself at the Bat-computer.
Nightwing looked down at him. "Senzație de whelmed încă?" Feeling whelmed yet?
Robin couldn't help smile. "Un pic. Dar dezastru evitat." A little. But disaster averted.
Nightwing smiled back. "Senzație Aster?" Feeling the aster?
"Senzație de Aster" Feeling the aster.
Robin couldn't help but note the various expressions that crossed each of the assembled faces. Oh god, it's gonna kill me if I don't remember where I've seen those two before.
"So, time for intro-"
"Nightwing."
The hero became very quiet.
"Compromising the future for this boy any more than we already have would not be wise."
Nightwing frowned. "But Bruce, that's not fair."
The Bat raised an eye brow. "Indeed."
Robin's eyes widened. "Ah ha! Finally, that was gonna kill me..." And he continued to mumble in Romanian.
Nightwing rolled his eyes and threw off his mask. Making sure to add a dramatic touch.
"You forgot the hair."
Nightwing widened his eyes and quickly flipped his hair out of his face. Dick smiled. Yeah, this could be him.
"So any ways, what was with that big epiphany just now anywho?"
Dick shrugged. "Just figuring out who I knew and who I didn't. Any ways, now that I'm thinking about it, do I have to go around calling you Nightwing all the time now?"
The black haired boy looked thoughtful for a moment. "Call me Richard, and I'll stick to calling ya-"
"Nightwing..."
"Dick."
Richard nodded, as if he was just now deciding. Bruce sighed.
"Sweet."
Richard nodded again and clapped his hands together. "So now that I've totally ruined the whole 'keep the future a secret thing', it's time for introductions."
Dick nodded.
"Okay, so you must know Alfred."
"I do believe his cookies had saved my life on more than a few occasions."
Many assembled in the room smiled. Richard gave Dick a look.
"Riiiiiiiight, well, the red head over there is..."
Richard cast a glance at the younger hero. Why not...
"Barbra...?"
Richard nodded quickly. "Yeah, now, I don't expect you to know these two ladies. The blond is Stephanie Brown, the current Bat Girl. And the other one is Cassandra Cain, Black Bat."
Dick nodded. He couldn't help but notice the look of disappointment on Bruce's face. The Bat was right, his counter part really shouldn't be telling him any of this.
"So the tiny little Robin over there is none other than Damian Wayne."
The boy scowled. Dick nodded, now that he thought abut it, he did share quite a resemblance to the Bat.
"You wanna take a wild guess at the last two?"
Dick shrugged. "Jason Todd and Tim Drake."
Richard blinked. "Okay Jay I could believe, but Timmy?!"
Dick nodded. "Yeah, Jay just moved in a few months ago and I still baby sit Tim from time to time. Or, at least I did"
Richard laughed along with most of the others.
"So, why don't you tell us how you-"
"Wait a minute."
Every one turned to look at Jason. "How old is this kid? Only a month? What are you fifteen?"
Dick blinked. "Uhh, yeah."
Jason raised an eye brow. "Smaller than I remember..."
Dick shrugged. "Yeah, Wally still bugs me about that."
Richard smiled at the mention of his best friend.
"Dick."
All attention was turned to the Bat. "I think it's time you told us how you got here."
Finally they'd all shifted into comfortable positions to listen to the teen.
"So in my dimension there's a League and a Watchtower and all that but the only thing that's different beside the odd costume change and the hole age difference is that in my dimension, all of us sidekicks have banded together to form the Team. Aqualad, or Kaldur'ahm is our leader, followed by me. Then there's M'gann, or Mss Martian, she's Martian Manhunter's niece. Superboy, who's Superman's clone, who also has Luthor's DNA. Artemis, who became GA's second partner after Speedy quit and became Red Arrow. And Kid Flash, who is kinda self explanatory.
"Um, well it all started when we, as in Aqualad, Wally, Speedy and I, thought that we were going to be taking the next big step to becoming part of the League but the whole 'Watchtower in space' thing was revealed and Speedy quit. The League then left to stop Wotan and we were told to stay. But instead we decided to take on one of the League's side missions involving an organization called Cadmus. There we found Superboy, defeated Blockbuster and blew up the whole building.
"Three days later were we given Mount Justice as a base of operations and Mss Martian joined the team. The rest is history. I mean, along the way we've picked up some more friends, Zatana and Rocket for example, Beastboy too."
They'd all listened quietly while Dick told his story. Tim furrowed his eye brows. "You still haven't told us how you got here and...your Superboy, what's he like?"
Dick pursed his lips. "Well, he's got a temper like there's no tomorrow, he can't fly, and Kryptonite doesn't really affect him. No heat vision but he still has super strength, through he's not as strong as Superman. Also...Superman has been kinda neglecting him. I mean, I get that you'd be shocked and stuff, but it's been two years since we found him."
Tim frowned.
"But anyway, he's a good friend. Now, as for how I got here. We were on a mission when we ran int Klarion the Witch Kid. Nasty guys, really. But I kicked him in the face and then got mad and created a vortex which sucked me up and dumped me here."
Bruce looked thoughtful.
"Any thing else you wanna know?"
Bruce shook his head. "No."
3 months later
"I'm never going to go home, am I?"
Richard glanced a Dick. "Can I ask a favor of you?"
Dick looked at him. "What?"
"Can you not make the same mistakes I have?"
"Wha-"
"Listen. I didn't quit. I was fired."
Dick's eyes widened.
"I won't tell you a lot but I did some really stupid shit, messed up real bad, got hurt...My point is that I want you to be able to retire Robin and move on willingly, not get fired. Please...just try."
Dick nodded. "I'll...try my best."
Richard smiled. "Come on, let's get you home."
"What?!"
"Oh, did I forget to tell you this morning? Barry and Wally had a break through last night and Bat's punched in all those numbers and letters that are really complicated looking and there you have it. A perfectly round and beautifully frosted Dimension travelling cake."
Dick took a timid step towards the machine. This is it. I'm going home. He turned to stare at the assembled Leager's. His eye's travelling of his adopted Bat-family and landing on Bruce.
"Bat's, I need you to promise me something."
Silence.
"Once I'm back home, you destroy the machine."
The Dark Knight narrowed his eyes. "From father to son, I promise."
Dick's eye's widened from behind his mask. Well that was unexpected...
He turned back around and with a deep breath he stepped into the machine.
Finally the light faded and Dick found himself in the middle of . His team mate's all standing in front of him, eye's wide and mouths open in shock.
"Robin! You're back!"
Suddenly the young teen found himself in the middle of a group-hug.
"Good to be back."
And it truly was.
Thanks Nightwing. I owe ya' one, big time, so I'll do my best, just for you.
Phew, finally got that over with! Praise the Lord! o3o R&R!
