I AM SO SORRY! There is no excuse for taking over a year to update. i hope you like this, and again i'm so sorry!

The woman strode back to the captain's chair, strutting elegantly like a swan. Or slithering like a snake, Pavel thought bitterly. With a lazy roll of her shoulders, she let the hooded cloak fall to the ground. Raze quickly scooped it up and held it close like it was a sacred relic. She wore dark pants that were tucked into her knee high boots and a sleeveless black tunic that exposed her bare shoulders. Golden cuffs were clasped around her wrists and a matching locket hung from her neck.

She lowered herself into the captains chair, crossing her long legs in relaxation. She looked at her captives thoughtfully, tapping her lips with a manicured finger. Finally she spoke, her voice thick like honey. "I believe that I've kept you in the dark long enough. You're probably wondering who I am and what I'm doing on your starship."

"You could say that." Kirk answered bitterly, standing protectively in front of his crew. Spock stood stoically by Uhura, one hand clasped discreetly with hers while McCoy had placed himself by Pavel. He kept a firm, comforting hand on the teen's shoulder, keeping the hoods in his sights at all times. There was no way he was going to let those pale freaks get within ten feet of the kid.

"My name is Charlotte Coulson." the woman said firmly, as if her name meant something important. Apparently it did since Bones scoffed in disbelief.

"You've got to be kidding me." he mumbled under his breath. "Charlotte Coulson? The Charlotte Coulson who's husband killed over two hundred kids in crack pot science experiments?"

The crew was quiet for a moment, none knowing what to do. The woman, Charlotte, glared at the doctor, her jaw and fist clenched tight. She spoke bitterly, "Yes, doctor. Michael Coulson was my husband. Fortunately, he is no longer with us."

"Why do I get the feeling you had something to do with that?" Uhura asked with distaste. Charlotte smiled coldly at her.

"Woman's intuition." she answered with a smirk. Her voice became cold as she spoke. "Michael and I were both scientists. We were working together on a project named Elevate."

"What does this have to do with why you're on my ship?" Kirk asked bitterly. Charlotte frowned.

"Patience, captain. All will be revealed." she scolded, like Kirk was a child. "You are aware that humans are only capable of using 10% of our brains? Well, Michael and I were trying to develop a machine that allowed you to use the other 90%."

"Whoopdi freaking doo." McCoy grumbled, crossing his arms. Raze growled in irritation while Charlotte looked at the doctor with disdain.

"Doctor, I don't think you realize how revolutionary that is; how much power is locked away, unused in our minds. Telepathy, teleportation, telekinesis, and even the ability to heal wounds with a simple touch" she explained, her eyes growing wide, as if amazed by her own words. Kirk snorted.

"No offense, but that sounds more like a fairy tale than science." He countered. Instead of becoming angry, she simply smiled.

"A few centuries ago, aliens were thought to be nothing but fairy tales. But look at the world now, look at your first officer. He is very much real." She replied. The captives silenced as she continued her story, even though they did see the relevance of it. "The Federation funded our project, hoping to use the machine once it was completed. They gave us labs, resources and test subjects. At first, the machine worked but with serious side affects. The test subject's mind would begin to slowly deteriorate after going through the process until the subject became brain dead. When our work showed no progress, the Federation refused to let us move to human testing and suggested that we pulled the plug on the project all together. Michael was furious, he was convinced that he was close to a revelation.

"He became obsessed with Elevate. He began testing the machine on children in secret, believing that their young, influential minds would not be so negatively affected. He was right, in a way, however, there was still a flaw in the machine. He was close to fixing it but it didn't matter. The Federation found out about his illegal experiments and shut down our lab, destroying the machine and all of the data we had. Michael took our son, Elijah, and went into hiding. This was nearly two years ago. I have been looking for them ever since."

"As interesting as that is, it still doesn't answer my question. Why are you on my ship?" Kirk asked coldly, growing annoyed at their captor. She continued to ignore him, not even bothering to shoot a glare in his direction.

"I finally tracked Michael down to a small bar on the planet Setra. I confronted him and demand that he returned to Earth for trial. When I asked where our son was he told me that he sold him." Charlotte's jaw clenched at the memory. Her voice became a harsh whisper of anger. "He had somehow managed to rebuild the machine. He had used it on our son and sold him to the highest bidder like one would sell an animal or property."

"I am assuming that was when you killed him." Spock pointed out. Charlotte smiled evilly.

"You assume correctly, Commander." she said with a forced grin. "But not before he told me where the machine was and who had bought Elijah."

"And who was that?" Kirk pressed, really wanting the woman to just get to the point.

"A man known as Victor Krest." she said coldly. She smiled when she saw the captain stiffen. "Perhaps you know of him."

"Know of him? The Federation has been trying to bring Krest to justice for years." Kirk spat. Krest was responsible for several murders and raids all across Federation planets. To call him a pirate would be a gentle scolding. However, nobody could ever catch him or prove that he committed any crime. "What would Krest want with your son and Elevate?"

"I believe that he wants to create an army unlike any other; an army or telepaths and teleporters." her voice was sinister, leaving the others with an uneasy feeling in their stomachs. "A few hours ago, I tracked down the ship Krest was traveling on and attacked. However, I was outgunned and my ship was nearly destroyed. We managed to dock on a nearby planet,a planet where your crew just so happened to be on shore leave. It wasn't hard to have one of my colleagues sneak on board. He later came here to the bridge to beam the rest of us on board. We weren't expecting young Pavel here to be here. That certainty complicated things."

"So you've told me how you got on my ship, but not why." Kirk told her, grinding his teeth.

"I have come to far to let Krest and my son slip through my hands. I need a ship that has the firepower to take him down and I've decided to borrow this one." she explained. The bridge doors hissed open and two more hoods walked in, toting a struggling figure in between them. The said figure, was a teenage girl, about the age of Pavel. She wore a light blue sleeping gown and was barefoot, like she was just gotten out of bed. She fought furiously against her captors as they pulled her along. "Ah, I see that our guest has arrived. Take her down to the brig until we contact Krest."

"Yes, ma'am." one of them responded. They drug the struggling girl away, leaving the Enterprise crew even more confused than they had been before. McCoy turned to Charlotte.

"Who the hell was that?" he asked, his hand still clasped on Pavel's shoulder. Charlotte turned to face the viewing screen.

"Krest stole my child from me. So I stole his." she told them, her voice laced with venom. The command crew shared a distraught glance. "Lieutenant Uhura, could you please go to your station. I have a feeling that we will be hearing from Victor Krest very soon."
