This takes place right in the first chapter of Fallen. But, you might want to have read the whole book, or this will confuse and/or spoil a lot for you. I just wrote this down really quickly, so it's not beta'd or anything. I am currently working on a story with Katchia that I am focusing on for the most part, but I had this idea in my head and wanted to get it down. I hope you enjoy, even though tis very short and rough. -Alison
Right before Daniel flips Luce off, what if he decided to try something else? Told from Daniel's perspective as well as Luce's.
(Italic = From the book)
She glanced again at Daniel. He took his glasses off and slid them inside his jacket, then turned to look at her. His gaze caught hers, and Luce watched as his eyes widened and then quickly narrowed in what looked like surprise. But no-it was more then that. When Daniel's eyes held hers, her breath caught in her throat. She recognized him from somewhere.
'She found me.' Daniel thought. 'She always looks so beautiful.'
'Do I know him?' Luce thought. 'He looks so familiar.'
Daniel had been thinking about trying things differently for some time now. He just couldn't take losing her over and over and over again time after time. He made up his mind. He started walking over to Luce, keeping her gaze with each step he took.
'If it doesn't work, she'll just come back again. And again. And again.' Daniel kept thinking. His nerves increased with each step he took closer to her.
Arriane noticed Daniel walking over. She didn't understand what he was about to do, and Daniel knew that. She would have tried to stop him, and he had to at least try.
"Luce, let's go. Now." Arriane said, quietly, so only Luse could hear her.
"What, why? Don't you see Daniel coming over here to talk to us?" Luce said to Arriane.
Arriane then tried to grab Luce's arm and pull her away, but before she could, Daniel had walked right up to her.
"Lucinda." He said, as sweet as he could.
Luce was confused. How did he know her name? "Have we meet before?" She asked him.
"Yes! Do you remember?" Daniel asked her hopefully.
She tried to remember where she might have seen him before, but she just couldn't think of anything. "Sorry, I don't." She finally said.
He didn't wait anymore, he swept her up in his arms and pressed his lips firmly to hers, savoring the kiss for as long as he could. Because he knew that any second now would be her last. But to his surprise, she didn't burn up like all those times before. She didn't return the kiss, either. When Daniel had realized she was still there, he backed up a step and looked at her, astonishment in his eyes.
"WHAT THE HELL, DANIEL!?" Arriane cried out so loud that everyone outside turned their heads to look at what was going down. "What are fuck are you thinking?!"
"Lucinda?" Daniel nervously asked Luce, completely ignoring Arriane.
"...Um...So...W-Where exactly did where meet?" Luce asked Daniel, dazed by what had just happened. "Because I, uh, think I would've remembered that."
