Karu-sil's Story
As always, not for profit and no infringement intended. DC owns the characters; I do not.
This is the story of Karu-sil, Sinestro Corps 2815, in her own words.
I was alone. My parents were dead. I was hungry, and they found me. Instead of making me their prey, they shared their...our kill. They slept in a circle around me. When it was cold, they stayed close to me and shared their warmth. When it was hot, they urged me into cool water. When they hunted, part of the kill was mine. They taught me to hunt. They taught me the ways of The Pack. We were one.
One day, they led me to a place where many two-leggers laired. One of them was in the river. Like the ones who killed my parents. I remember. I waited until he was close. He bared his teeth and reached for me. He saw my face and drew away, but I struck. Then the Green Light came from the sky. The Green Light struck my Pack like died. I was afraid. The flying man said things and acted friendly, but... His finger glowed green and spoke. It said he saved me. Oh, my Fathers Three! I knew sorrow when I saw them lying dead in the river.
The man took me up high...higher than birds fly. I saw something round, like the "not-food" that grows on trees. His finger...he? said it was my world. He took me to another round-fruit and told me it was his world. He took me to a place - like a hut, but as large as a hill, sharp edged and made of stones. He said people would help me. It smelled strange. I didn't like it. No trees. No water. No sky. They made me wear odd skins and gave me "not-food." I could not eat it.
A man came in. He started to talk, but I was hungry. I do not know how long I had not fed, but I felt empty inside. I brought down my prey in one leap and began to feed. My face was wet. I should have shared this meal with my Fathers. Then others came. They took my kill away from me and bound me. They pressed things against my neck. They hissed like snakes, and I felt sleepy. I woke up. I was in a small square cave, and I could not get out. I was afraid.
I do not know how long a time I was there. I could not see the sun. Sometimes, people would come and talk at me. I would not speak. The food did not smell good, but my stomach hurt, so I ate.
Then the Yellow Light came. It broke through the wall. It came to me, and it spoke:
"Karu-sil of Graxos III, you have the ability to instill great fear. Welcome to the Sinestro Corps."
I was afraid, but the Yellow Light rested on my finger. The wall was open. I was free. I flew as the Green Man had and went up into the sky. The Yellow Light guided me, and I met my new Pack Leader. He said he wanted to kill the Green Light. He said they were prey. He said I was part of his Pack. I was happy. Pack Leader said I could make the Yellow Light bring my Fathers Three back to me. They came. We romped, and I knew joy again.
I am not alone anymore - never alone. And I will make the Green Light go away.
