Epilogue

Remy pulled into the gates, and stopped there. The building itself looked worse than when he left, with several windows broken and steel panels dropped into place. Worse though was Wade happily whistling as he dragged people outside and stacked them on the lawn, from here Remy couldn't tell if they were injured or dead, nor could he tell who they were.

He looked down at his son, but thankfully the boy seemed to have drifted off, he didn't want the boy to suffer any more traumas today. Undecided on how to handle the situation, either go inside an find out what happened, or wait until the others arrived, Remy continued to stare for a moment. Wade noticed him and cheerfully waved, as Remy heard the distinct sound of his brother in law's teleporting, followed by the thump a moment later as another invader hit the ground.

This sped Remy to action, as he climbed from the vehicle to see better what had happened. Kurt spotted him as he dropped a final invader and appeared next to Remy a moment later.

"Did you find him?" Kurt asked.

Remy nodded toward the car. "What happened, are Anna and the children safe?"

"Yes, Wanda and Anna kept everyone in the Danger Room, we were invaded and Wade managed to take out the first wave all by himself. Gregory and I joined him and defeated the second and third wave. We're just clearing up now."

"I don't think they'll be getting reinforcements right away. If they bother at all. The only one I think escaped was Sinister, so he'll be back, likely with twice the trouble...not today though.:" Remy replied.

Before Kurt could respond, the gate reopened, both men tensing at the sound. They relaxed when they saw it was their team however, and Remy walked around the car to wake his son.

Anna came out of the front door at that point, rushing to Remy and the boy. "Remy, you got him?! Thank God." She said as she hugged her husband then knelt next to the boy.

"Jean-Luc, this is Anna. She's my wife. " Remy said, introducing them.

"Hi." Jean-Luc said, as Anna hugged him.

"Is it safe to go in?" Remy asked.

"Probably safer than staying out here." Anna replied. " The other kids are waiting to see you two, too."

Remy nodded to Logan and Victor, who had joined Wade and Kurt in the clean up, as he led his son inside.

In the weeks following the attack, there were many decisions to be made, primarily, if it was safer to stay together or spread back out. No one thought that Sinister was defeated, but they had no idea where he had gone either.

Remy was torn what would be best for his family. On one hand, the cabin had been a safe haven for years, on the other he was well aware that the Dogs would and could find it anytime. New Orleans was not the best option either, nor was the mansion.

For now Logan and Remy were acting leaders of the school, but neither had decided how long they would stay. The Guilds had left a few days after the battle, to rebuild their homes and the Genoshians had left with them, for the most part. Wanda and Kurt had kept the girls with them and stayed on a the mansion for now.

Logan and Laura were a large part of why Remy and Anna were divided on what to do next. The two were spending much needed time together here, but if they returned to their former home, Laura would not see Logan as often. They had no intention of changing things on the girl now, nor was Logan asking them too, but they felt the girl deserved time with him as well.

Jean-Luc was adjusting well into the family and they were once more grateful in a way to Emma. She may not have been able to completely shake the bonds of a Horseman, but she had returned to herself enough that she had not only cared for the child, but had treated him as her own. She had told him, too, where his family had come from and that they would one day return for him.

Megan and Jean-Luc were here with them and safe because of Emma, for that they were grateful. So when they held a memorial for their fallen, two weeks after the battle, a stone was placed in the garden for Emma, as well as Ororo and Henry. In the end they sis not blame their friends, for what had happened.

Logan approached Xavier again, three months after the battle, when Sinister had failed to resurface right away. He wanted to know, felt he needed to know, if it was over. That's all he intended to ask.

Logan waited for the familiar pull as he called out to Xavier. Eventually, as he was about to give up, the pull came, as he was surrounded by fog, and he watched Charles walk up to him.

"What can ya tell us Chuck? It everything alright on your end?" Logan asked when the other man was close to him.

"They are better than they were Logan." Charles said simply.

"...Can you tell us what to expect?"

"I can tell you to expect anger and distrust. I can tell you you are all safer together."

"So, back to square one?" Logan asked, his tone suggesting an attempt at humor as well as exhaustion.

"Yes, my friend." Charles replied.

"Can you give me anything useful?" Logan asked.

"No. the world is in flux as we speak, I have know idea where it will settle. I can only tell you to stay together, and that you are facing both hard times and good times, if you are willing to shoulder them."

"...Are you leaving us again?"

"No. But I will never again make the mistakes of too many details."

Logan nodded in understand as he started to turn away, before asking " Remy and I leading together...how well will that work long term?"

"You'll be fine Logan. You are a good leader, and Remy will have plenty of advice, if you choose to listen to it. It won't always be what you want to hear, there will be times when he is wrong, times when you are wrong...just try to not allow future arguments tear the team apart. You are stronger together."

Logan nodded, though Charles had not advised him of anything he hadn't already known. He wanted to reword the question, to learn if Remy and Anna would eventually decide to leave, but he had a feeling Charles wouldn't tell him anyway.

For now they were all here and all together, that was going to have to be enough for them all.
