Okay! This is it! The epilogue!

Wow, it's so sad, isn't it? I've been posting for months, and now it's finally over.

Some of you will like what I've done, some of you may not. Feel free to tell me.

Anyway, enjoy!

Clary woke up to the sound of a baby crying. She reached her hand over and shook Jace's shoulder. "Jace."

"Hm?" He grumbled into his pillow.

"It's your turn."

"Alright," he mumbled. He got out of bed, and left the bedroom.

Clary put her hand on her protruding stomach. Having one baby was hard work. How hard would a second be?

It had been eight years since Clary had been abducted by Camille. Not once did anyone else come after her again- for which she was extremely grateful. She still occasionally had dreams about new runes, and she always drew them and wrote the Clave- as she had promised to do. She'd heard that the runes did all sorts of interesting things. There was one that bonded a Shadowhunter and a downworlder.

Jace walked back into the room, and got under the covers.

"Did John go back to sleep?" Asked Clary.

"Yes," said Jace. "He just needed a change."

Clary nodded. "Okay. Thank you."

He smiled gently. "You're welcome. Goodnight, Clary."

Please join us for the wedding of Isabelle Sophia Lightwood and Simon Lewis...

Jonathan stared blankly at the invitation. It had been a week since the announcement, and it still wasn't easier to hear. Isabelle was getting married.

Jonathan thought constantly of what he should have done when Isabelle said she was pregnant. He should've not run off, for starters. Isabelle didn't end up being pregnant at all, but she still didn't like Jonathan's reaction. I should have stayed, he thought, I may not have lost her then...

Jonathan dropped the invitation on his nightstand and pulled the covers over his head, waiting for sleep to come. It didn't. He lie there for about an hour before getting up again.

He pulled on a shirt and left his room. He found himself in Isabelle's old room. He sighed, and made his way over to her nightstand. There was a picture of her, Alec and Jace there. She looked younger in the picture than she did when he first met her. She was fifteen maybe- like Clary had been when she'd first left home.

Clary. Clary was lucky. She had her life together. She'd married Jace, gotten an apartment, and had a son. His name was Jonathan- after him- but everyone called him John. Clary was pregnant again. The gender is a surprise at their request, but Jonathan thought it would be a girl- mostly because Clary had already had a boy.

"Jonathan?"

Jonathan jumped and spun around. In the open doorway was Max. "You scared me," said Jonathan.

"Sorry," said Max. He was tall, and muscular- nothing like the tiny ten-year-old he had been when Jonathan had first met him. "What are you doing in here?"

"Um," Jonathan looked around the room for an excuse.

"Ah. I see," Max nodded. "Are you okay?"

Jonathan let out an exasperated breath. "... As fine as I can be. Is it really that obvious?"

Max nodded. "The way you look at her... It's the same way Alec looks at Magnus."

Jonathan chuckled. "Well, that's how you look at someone you're in love with, I guess."

Max nodded again. "Well, if you ever need someone to talk to, I'm your guy."

"Thanks."

"I think I'm getting wrinkles," said Magnus.

"No you're not," said Alec. "Your body's only twenty nine."

"Thirty one," Magnus corrected. "You're only twenty six. You don't understand. I've been immortal for five hundred years! Being mortal is so foreign. I'm not used to it!"

Alec frowned. "Since when are you five hundred?"

"Since I feel like it," Magnus turned from the mirror and plopped down on the bed, face down. He mumbled something into the covers that Alec didn't catch.

"What?"

Magnus shook his head. He rolled onto his back and looked up at Alec. "Tomorrow's our one year engagement anniversary."

Alec smiled. "I know. You've only been reminding me for... A year now."

Magnus chuckled. "It's worth celebrating. How many times will you be engaged for a full year when you're mortal?"

"Depends on if you divorce," said Alec.

"Well, I wasn't planning on divorcing you," the corner of Magnus' lips curled up.

Alec yawned. "Good."

"Tired?"

Alec nodded.

"We should get some sleep. We've got a big day tomorrow."

"Surprise!" Maia yelled as Simon opened the door. He jumped.

"Hi. What're you doing here?" He asked.

Maia rolled her eyes. "Surprise. I'm just dropping in."

"Oh, okay. Come in," Simon held the door open and Maia walked in.

"I like what you've done with the place."

"Isabelle," said Simon. "She's got good taste."

Maia seemed to notice what he was wearing. "Is that a leather jacket?"

"Maybe."

Maia giggled. "My god, you're such a weirdo."

Simon had confessed to Clary the year after she returned from the dead. He'd finally worked up the courage to do it. Unfortunately, she wasn't interested.

He'd started dating Isabelle a few years ago. He proposed a month ago, and now they were gonna get married in a month. It was all moving so fast- but in a good way.

"Hello, earth to Simon," Maia waved her hand in front of his face.

"What?"

"I said are you gonna have a bachelor party?"

"Um," Simon scratched the back of his head. "Probably. Why?"

"Good. Because Jordan wants to throw it for you."

Simon shrugged. "Okay."

"Great!" Maia clapped her hands together. "Because he already made plans."

Isabelle threw her head back, taking down the shot of espresso. She winced at how strong it was.

A memory came to her. Her first date with Jonathan, and how he drank his coffee black.

She shook her head, and mentally scolded herself for thinking about Jonathan.

She looked down at her espresso cup. She was trying to start staying up at night with Simon, but she found it difficult. Even with the insane amount of caffeine she drank, her body still wanted to sleep at night.

"Isabelle."

Isabelle jumped and looked at the kitchen doorway.

"Sorry," said Maia. "Didn't mean to scare you."

"Hi," said Isabelle.

"Um... I wanted to throw you a bachelorette party."

Isabelle's eyes widened. "You did?"

"Yes. I'll organize everything. Invite Clary..."

Isabelle thought for a second. "Alright."

Maia smiled. "You won't regret this. I promise."

Jace bounced baby John on his knee. A look on glee was on his face as he laughed the cutest baby laugh he'd ever heard.

Fatherhood had been different then he thought it'd be like. Much more joy.

When Clary had told him she was pregnant, she was freaking out. Jace acted cool, and happy, but inside, he was scared, too. But when baby John looked up into his eyes with his gold ones for the first time, he felt like he could do anything.

John had carrot-colored hair, like Clary, but he looked like Jace. Everyone said so- and they weren't wrong.

"Look at him," said Jocelyn, walking up. "He's gotten so big," she grinned down at her grandson.

"Would you like to hold him?" Jace asked. Jocelyn nodded and took him with a large grin on her face.

"He's got your eyes," she said. "And Clary's nose," she giggled. Jace didn't think he'd ever heard Jocelyn giggle anywhere but around John.

"He does," Jace agreed.

Jocelyn cooed at the baby for a minute before talking again. "Do you know the gender of the other one yet?"

"No," Jace shook his head. "Clary wants it to be a surprise."

Jocelyn nodded. "What are you going to name it?"

"If it's a girl, Adele. If it's a boy... Lucian."

Jocelyn's face changed and she looked at him. "Lucian?" She whispered.

"Yes," Clary and Jace had decided to name their next son Lucian, after the man who risked his life to save Clary's.

Jocelyn nodded slowly, focused on some point in the distance. "That's wonderful," she murmured.

John touched her face and she smiled at him again.

Jocelyn began cooing again. "Uh oh, what happened there?"

Jace frowned. "Huh?"

"He's got a scar on his shoulder," said Jocelyn, not taking her eyes off the baby. "How'd that happen?"

"It isn't a scar, it's a birthmark. I have one there, too."

"Oh, good," she went back to cooing.

Jocelyn slid another silver pin into Clary's hair. "There. Done," she said.

Clary inspected herself in the mirror. "Perfect. Thanks," Clary stood carefully, minding her stomach.

Today was Isabelle and Simon's wedding, and Clary was the maid of honor. Her lavender dress gently hugged her baby bump, and Isabelle had mercy on her, and let her wear flats.

"You look beautiful," said Jocelyn.

"Thanks," Clary turned to her. "So do you."

Jocelyn scoffed and waved her compliment away. "I know it isn't your wedding, but are you nervous?"

Clary shook her head. "I would be if I were wearing heels, though."

Jocelyn nodded understandingly. "So, Jace told me your baby names."

Clary gave a small, kind smile. "And?"

"Lovely," she smiled. "Good choices. Maybe rethink the girl's, though."

Clary laughed. "You might be right on that one."

Jocelyn looked at her for a long time, in thought. "I love you. You know that, don't you?"

Clary nodded. "Yeah. I love you, too."

Jocelyn pulled her into a gentle embrace, being careful on her stomach. "I'm glad."

Isabelle stares at the mirror in disbelief. She was wearing a gold wedding dress with a sweetheart neckline, and her hair was curled, and pinned up.

"I'm getting married," Isabelle murmured to herself. For some reason, it hadn't hit her until now. She closed her eyes, trying to calm herself.

The door opened, and shut behind her, but she barely noticed. She let out her breath, and turned. She froze.

Jonathan was standing there in a suit, staring at her.

"Jonathan," she whispered. "What are you doing in here?"

He was silent for a few more seconds, taking her in. "You..." He cleared his throat. "You look beautiful."

Isabelle blushed and looked at her feet. She hated the way he still made her feel. "What are you doing in here?"

Jonathan was quiet for a second. "Wow, this is going to be harder than I thought."

Isabelle looked back up at him.

"Isabelle... I'm sorry. For everything. I was foolish, and I wish I would've done things differently. I'm sorry."

Isabelle didn't realize she'd been holding her breath until she was desperate for oxygen. "It's... Thank you," she managed.

He smiled a small, sad smile. "I know I'm too late. I'm way too late. But I wanted you to know that if I could do it over, I would've stayed."

Isabelle swallowed. "Are you only saying that because I ended up being wrong?"

Jonathan shook his head. "No. I mean it. I just wanted to tell you that before I leave."

Isabelle's heart dropped to her stomach. "You're leaving?"

He looked her right in the eyes then. "You're getting married, Isabelle. I can't watch that."

Isabelle bit her tongue. He was still in love with her.

He took a deep breath and exhaled before speaking again. "Goodbye, Isabelle."

Say something, Isabelle screamed at herself in her head, but her mouth refused to move.

Jonathan opened the door, looked at her one last time, then closed the door, and he was gone.

Valentine looked at his watch. When was this wedding going to start?

"Valentine Morgenstern."

Valentine turned to see Michael Wayland. "Hello Michael. It's been awhile," he grinned.

"Indeed."

Something grabbed Valentine's leg and he looked down. A blonde little girl was clinging to his leg. "Oh my," Valentine chuckled.

Michael knelt down. "Hello little one," he said in a sweet voice. "Is she yours, Valentine?"

"Nope. Just met her."

"Oh," Michael shrugged. "Sorry. She just looks a little like you."

Valentine frowned. "She does?" He knelt down next to her. The little girl was absolutely adorable. A cute, innocent face, green eyes and long straight hair that almost matched his own. "Huh. She does."

"She has Jocelyn's eyes, too," said Michael.

Valentine looked at the girl sideways. She looked bashful. "What's your name?"

The girl giggled shyly, but didn't respond.

"Did you get separated from your mother?"

The girl shook her head.

"Jezebel!" A woman rushed over, and knelt besides the little girl. "Oh thank Raziel!" She wrapped her arms around her.

The woman looked vaguely familiar, but Valentine couldn't name her. She had short, black hair, and she wore a long lavender dress.

The woman looked at him. "Oh, hello. I'm sorry, my sister just wandered off, didn't you Jeze?"

The girl looked at her. "Sorry," she mumbled in her adorable voice.

The woman smiled at her. "I'm glad you're alright. Don't wander off again, okay?"

The little girl- Jezebel nodded.

"Good," she turned her attention to Valentine, and frowned. "Do I know you?"

"Perhaps," Valentine shrugged. "Valentine Morgenstern."

The woman's eyes widened. "Oh, of course! You're Clary and Jonathan's father. You look a lot like Jonathan. I'm Aline. Aline Penhallow."

"Ah," Valentine nodded. "It's nice to finally meet you."

They all three stood up. Aline took Jezebel's hand. "It was nice to meet you, too."

Isabelle was sitting on the floor, staring at the wall. She knew she was probably due out there, but she couldn't make herself rise.

There was a knock on the door. Isabelle was silent.

Aline walked in. "Isabelle... Are you alright?"

Isabelle nodded. "Dear god... I'm getting married, Aline."

Aline chuckled. "... Are you?"

Isabelle looked at her sharply. She couldn't bring herself to answer.

Aline smiled a kind smile. "She wants to see you, by the way."

Isabelle sucked in a breath, knowing who she was talking about. "Have you told her then?"

Aline nodded. "She's a good kid, Iz."

Isabelle swallowed and nodded. "Okay. But... I haven't seen her since she was a baby."

Aline nodded again. "I know," she walked over to the door and opened it.

A little girl walked in, and Isabelle's hand went over her mouth.

Aline knelt beside the girl. "Jezebel, this is the woman I told you about. This is your mother."

The girl before her had long silver-blonde hair, and green eyes- like Jonathan- but her face was like Isabelle's was when she was young.

"Wow..." Isabelle murmured. "You're so beautiful."

The girl smiled an adorable smile.

Aline gently pushed her forwards.

She walked slowly towards her.

Isabelle reached out and touched her arms and pulled her into an embrace.

"She's going to be seven and a half in a week," said Aline.

"I know," Isabelle said into Jezebel's hair. She closed her eyes. Her silvery hair was silky soft, and she smelled lovely. Isabelle pulled her back a little and looked at her. She was the most perfect thing Isabelle had ever seen in her entire life. "Hi," Isabelle smiled. She felt tears in her eyes.

"Hi," said Jezebel. Her voice was like an angel's. "Are you my mommy?" She asked.

Isabelle laughed, tears starting to fall. "Yes," she said. "Yes, I'm your mommy."

Simon rocked back and forth on his heels. "Shouldn't Isabelle be here by now?" He asked Alec.

Alec shrugged. "She should."

Someone came up to Simon, and whispered in his ear. "Isabelle wants to see you," then she was gone.

"I'll be back," said Simon.

He opened the door to the room Isabelle was in. She turned to face him when he came in. He froze. "You look beautiful."

She gave a weak smile.

Simon shut the door and came further into the room. "Having second thoughts?"

Isabelle stiffened. "... I'm scared."

Simon smiled. "So am I. The idea of being married to me is terrifying."

Isabelle laughed. "It isn't that. It's the idea of spending the rest of my life with someone that bothers me. It's a new concept."

Simon nodded. "You don't have to do this if you don't want to, Isabelle. I'm not trying to force you into anything."

Isabelle swallowed. "It's just... You're gonna live on after I'm gone."

Simon stiffened. He didn't like to think about that. He didn't want to think about the fact that in a hundred years time, everyone he knew and loved would be dead. The only one he'd have would be Magnus- wait, he was mortal now. Truly no one.

"And you may not want me when I look like a grandmother."

"No," Simon said quickly. "I promise you, I'm not that shallow."

Isabelle gave a small smile. "I know. That's one of the reasons I love you."

Simon loved when Isabelle said she loved him. It had taken her a long time to say it for the first time, but Simon thought it was worth it. "So, what do you want to do?"

Isabelle smiled. "I want to marry you, Simon Lewis."

"Woah," Clary put her hand on her stomach.

"You okay?" Asked Jace, putting his hand on her back.

"Yes," Clary managed. "It just moved, that's all."

Jace's hand stopped. "Are you going to have the baby?" He asked. "Because that's what you said last time."

Clary closed her eyes and sucked in a breath. "Nope... Yes..."

"Are you sure?" Jace voice had become rather frantic.

"Calm the hell down," Clary whispered as the pain eased. "I'm fine. I'm going to try to wait."

"Wait?! It's a baby, Clary, you can't just wait."

"We can't leave now! They aren't even here yet!"

"Clary-"

A lot of people started applauding. Clary turned to see Simon and Isabelle coming in, smiling and holding hands.

Clary started clapping, too. She walked up to them. "Ready?"

Isabelle nodded. "Yes."

"Good. Now, lets do this before something happens."

Isabelle and Simon looked at her with puzzled looks on their faces.

Clary laughed nervously and gestured them forwards.

Clary couldn't concentrate. Simon and Isabelle were saying their vows, but Clary was concentrating on breathing.

"Are you okay?" Maia whispered in her ear. She was in a similar lavender silk dress, and her hair was pinned up in a pretty way.

"Fine," Clary managed.

"Is... Is the baby coming," Maia whispered.

"No," Clary lied. "No, I'm just..." She squeezed her eyes shut. She put her hand on her stomach. "Just wait a few more minutes," she whispered. "Please."

Clary tried not to, but she bent over a little. Maia put her hand on her shoulder.

"Clary, you need to go-"

"No," she hissed. "I'm not missing this."

Clary glanced up. Some of the other bridesmaids were looking at her with concern. Clary looked to her left and saw Simon looking at her, not Isabelle.

No, Clary thought, not yet, just wait!

Isabelle turned and saw Clary. "Are you okay?"

Clary nodded, but it was too late.

Isabelle turned and helped hold Clary up.

"No," Clary hissed. "You have to-" She took in a sharp breath.

"You're having the baby," said Isabelle.

Clary shook her head, shutting her eyes.

Jace was suddenly beside her. "Clary, I told you. We have to take you to the-"

"No!" Clary hissed.

"Yes," said Isabelle. "Go now."

"But I can't miss-"

"We'll wait," said Simon. "You need to go."

Isabelle and Jace helped Clary out of the church, and out in the front.

"Jace!" Magnus ran out of the church, too. "I can open a portal. Where do you need to go?"

"The Institute," said Jace. "Please hurry."

Magnus aimed his hands at the wall, and they walked through.

Jonathan was leaning on the outer wall of a coffee shop, sipping a black coffee. It had calmed him some, but he still felt terrible. He kept thinking about Isabelle. He couldn't get her out of his head, no matter how hard he tried.

His cell phone started ringing, and he pulled it out of his pocket. The caller was his mother. He declined it and put it back into his pocket.

He finished his coffee and started walking.

"I know you," said a female voice.

Jonathan looked. It was Kaelie from Taki's. "Yeah."

"You're Jonathan, is that right?"

"That's me. You're Kaelie, right?"

"That's right. You look sad."

He shrugged.

"Is it because Isabelle is getting married?"

Jonathan took a deep breath, and exhaled it. "Yeah. How'd you know?"

"I know everything," she joked.

His phone started ringing again. He hit decline.

"You should answer that," said Kaelie.

"I don't feel like talking to her."

Kaelie tilted her head to the side. "Well, I'll see you later."

He frowned.

"Go to the Institute. Your sister's in labor."

Jonathan's eyes widened, and he started running.

There was a large crowd outside the infirmary. Jonathan made his way through and to the doors. They were closed, and guarded by Magnus. "Finally," he said, rolling his eyes. "She's had the baby," he opened the door for him.

Jonathan ran into the Infirmary. He'd run, and taken the train, and run again. He was breathless.

Everyone was crowded around one of the beds. Jonathan made his way over to it.

Clary was lying down, a bundle in her arms, and Jace sat next to her, baby John in his arms. Clary looked up at him and smiled. "Jonathan."

"Sorry I missed it," he said breathlessly.

"Don't worry about it," said Clary. "Do you want to meet him?"

"Him?"

"Lucian Herondale," Clary looked down at the bundle. "Luke."

Jonathan made his way over and looked down at the baby in Clary's arms.

Baby Lucian had gold curls, and his green eyes looked around curiously.

Jonathan smiled. "He's precious."

Someone pushed in next to him, and handed Clary a mug.

"Thanks," said Clary, taking a sip.

Jonathan looked and his breath stopped when he saw it was Isabelle. She was in her wedding clothes still, and she paid him no mind. "How're you feeling?" She asked Clary.

"I feel great. Thanks."

Jace was looking at the bundle in Clary's arms. "That's your little brother," Jace murmured to John. "That's little Luke."

John extended his hand, and touched the bundle.

Clary smiled down at them.

Jonathan smiled serenely at them.

"Would you like to hold him, Jonathan?"

Jonathan nodded. "Yes."

Clary passed the baby into his arms carefully.

Jonathan looked down at the baby. "Hi Luke," he cooed.

The baby smiled and blew a bubble.

Jonathan chuckled. This one looked just like Clary had when she was a baby- except this one was a boy, and had gold hair, and no freckles. "Welcome to the world," he was vaguely aware of eyes on him, but he didn't particularly care.

Isabelle watched Jonathan. He was so good with babies... She pushed the thought from her mind, and turned back to Clary. Clary whispered something to Jace and he nodded.

Isabelle swallowed. She'd made the decision.

"Aline," Isabelle went up to Aline. "Can I borrow Jeze?" She whispered.

Aline looked at her for a second. "Okay," she looked down at Jezebel at her side. "Jeze, you want to go with Izzy for a minute?"

Jezebel nodded and took Isabelle's offered hand.

Jonathan was alone in the kitchen. Clary had sent him to get food. Isabelle knew she'd done it for her.

"Jonathan," she said.

He jumped and looked away from the fridge. "You scared me," he said. He didn't seem to notice the little girl holding Isabelle's hand.

"Jonathan... I lied."

He frowned. "About what?"

"I... I told you..." She couldn't bring herself to say it. She crouched down next to Jezebel. "Jezebel, this is Jonathan. He's..." She bit her lip. "He's your father."

Jezebel looked at Isabelle for a second, then looked at Jonathan.

Isabelle looked at him, too. His eyes were wide and staring. He was shocked, Isabelle could tell, but he knew it was true all at once.

Isabelle stood, and lead Jezebel closer.

Jonathan knelt before her and looked at her. "Wow..." He mumbled. "I'm a father."

Isabelle swallowed, wondering if she was wrong to tell him.

Jonathan smiled. "Hi there," he said. "I'm Jonathan."

Jezebel smiled, and Jonathan wrapped his arms around her. Jezebel released her hand, and hugged him back.

A huge grin stretched across Isabelle's face.

"Where have you been all this time?" He asked.

Jezebel was shy, Isabelle knew. She stayed quiet.

"She's been at Aline's," said Isabelle. "She's supposedly her little sister."

Jonathan pulled away and looked at her face. "She looks like you."

Isabelle smiled. "She's got your eyes and hair, though."

"She does," Jonathan put his fingers under her chin. "How old are you, Jezebel?"

"I'm seven," she said.

Jonathan smiled. "What do you like to do?"

"Drink hot chocolate."

Jonathan and Isabelle both laughed.

"That's my favorite thing, too," said Jonathan. He looked up at Isabelle, and smiled a smile that made Isabelle's heart melt. He wasn't lying, she thought, he'll be a great father."

"Is she still gonna be Aline's sister?" He asked.

Isabelle nodded. "I can't take her away. Aline loves her now."

Jonathan looked back at her. "I'd like to get to know you better," he said to her.

Jezebel nodded eagerly.

"Are you Isabelle Lewis now?" Jonathan asked without looking at her.

"No. Clary went into labor before we were done."

Jonathan looked at her, and swallowed.

Isabelle swallowed, too. Here they were, with their daughter. Their daughter. Their daughter. It was so strange. Isabelle loved Simon, but she still loved Jonathan. She'd never stopped.

Jonathan looked back at Jezebel. "It was nice to meet you, Jezebel," he murmured.

Jocelyn knelt on the ground before the grave marked Lucian Graymark. She swallowed and set the roses in her hand down. "Hello old friend," she whispered through tear filled eyes. She took a deep breath to try to calm herself. "Clary had her second baby. She named him Lucian, after you," she smiled a sad smile. "They call him Luke," Jocelyn bit down on her tongue to keep from crying again.

When she composed herself, she spoke again. "Thank you again for saving my daughter. Everything you did... You did it for me, didn't you?" The question was more rhetorical, because she already knew the answer.

"Lucian... I wish you would have told me how you felt sooner... Because, although I love Valentine, I loved you, too. I didn't really know until Clary told me what you said, but it's been there for years. I was just too blind to see it..." Jocelyn blinked rapidly to clear the tears. "I miss you. I've missed you, I'll always miss you," Jocelyn felt like there was a hand on her shoulder. It was a strange half-feeling. She closed her eyes, knowing it wasn't a physical touch. "Thank you, my friend. For everything."

-The End-

Ah! It's so sad! The story's over :( I'm thinking about possibly writing a spin off. Several years in the future, when their kids are all teenagers, and it focuses on Jezebel. Tell me what you think :)

Thank you all for being great, and supportive :) I also want to thank my mother and sisters for being my first readers, and helping me along with the story.

I have a few other stories you could read if you haven't yet. They're called 'Heart by Heart' and 'What if She Was'. Check them out :)

Thanks again everyone! I will miss you all!

Lots of love!
