Chapter 34

A Time To Begin

The first band practice with Blaine there is just ... plain awkward.

Elliott is clearly doing his best to act like there is nothing to any of this new situation, which just adds to the strangeness everyone in the room can perceive.

But as the weeks begin to role by and especially Blaine and Elliott work on getting past the awkwardness, the calm and happy atmosphere begins to settle back over this regular gathering of friends.

It is somewhat disturbed once more when Dani and Santana start dating and eventually Santana joins the group. But the new blood actually helps with allowing everyone to settle into their new relationships.

It is Finn though who really brings new life into the friendship of Elliott, Kurt and Blaine when he suggests a movie night at his and Puck's. It takes twenty minutes into 10 Things I Hate About You for Blaine, Elliott and Kurt to be falling over each other on the couch, hysterical with laughter, and for Puck to throw Finn one disbelieving look before he gets up and says, "Man, I'm going for a beer run, maybe these three will have calmed down enough for us to actually watch the movie when I come back."

Finn just keeps sitting there, happily looking on, grinning at the success of a night.

It seems to Blaine the next week that this was what Kurt had needed, to know that things are alright with his friends, to actually allow for just the two of them to keep getting, growing closer.

The shift happens, the real shift, away from the holding back right into the deep end of their relationship after a lovely but equally unremarkable evening of take out and another movie, this time for just the two of them at Kurt's place.

They cuddle up under a blanket on the living room couch, Blaine, nose nuzzled into the crook of Kurt's neck, breaths in, and then his lips are brushing over the sensitive skin, feeling all of Kurt tremble at the touch. "Too much?" Blaine whispers softly, lips retreating from skin, eyes finding Kurt's.

Kurt is biting his lower lip, shaking his head, no. "I," he swallows, "I want." Another breath, "I am still scared though."

Blaine's eyes are soft, "Anything you want, anything you want to try to make this work, I'm here." His left hand settles warm and reassuring, under the blanket on Kurt's T-shirt clad lower abdomen. And Blaine's lips in the next second are tracing Kurt's jaw line. No pressure, no push.

A tiny moan slips past Kurt's lips at the thought of what might happen next. Eyes slipped shut, head thrown back, resting against the back of the couch, Kurt gives himself over like he has never done before. Hands wandering under the blanket, pulling his own T-shirt off, opening up to allowing Blaine to map all of his chest with his hands, as the blanket slips with his lips, a tongue flicking across a nipple, cool air breathed unto it breaks him open completely. It is a moan, high strung and desperately full with love, "Blaine." Kurt feels the other man's lips and hands keep working away at him, "Blaine."

It is a moan of his own name "Kurt" hears in answer, gripping with both hands for Blaine's head in the next moment, guiding Blaine back up to face him, Blaine completely shifting onto Kurt's lap with the motion, straddling Kurt's hips fully, their erections meeting, accompanied by two gasps.

Blaine too gets rid of his shirt, taking Kurt's right hand with his left and pressing it up to his chest, right over his heart hammering away, "All yours," Blaine breathes, leaning close already when Kurt surges up, their chests pressed together before their lips touch, Blaine steadying Kurt in his arms coming around Kurt's torso, as Kurt buries his fingers in Blaine's curls, deepening the kiss more and more until both men have to come up for air.

The slight tremble still moving Kurt's body does not go unmissed by Blaine, how could it with how close they are. "Hey there, you okay?"

The tears shoot into Kurt's eyes, overflow as he is already leaning in again, nodding into the kiss, gasping "Yes," in between kisses, "perfect. I'm perfect with you. We're perfect." Sometimes there are not many words for what we are feeling, sometimes there do not need to be. Feeling anything kissing Blaine has Kurt struggling for words, feeling what he does right here with Blaine has Kurt speechless.

Life has taken such a turn on him, he is determined to do his damnedest to never mess it up, never allow anyone again to mess it up for him. All the pain of his life is a distant memory today, it has shaped him and broken him and challenged him to put together a whole new person, a being he had never known he could be. And he feels less and less sure if he still wants to be mad about any of it. He certainly does not feel mad right here and now, with Blaine.

They soon move to lie down on the couch together, blanket pulled over them again, legs tangled, Blaine taking over the kisses, much less frantic, much less wet with tears, instead soft and rich and reassuring.

"I love you."

"I love you."

This time neither young man needs to question what kind of love either is talking about.
