In the legend of the eight swords, there were four boys garbed in green, red, blue, and purple, and four boys garbed in black. The boys sporting the pitch black tunics had eyes that matched the colors of the other boys' tunics. Therefore, there was a boy with green eyes, red eyes, blue eyes and...what's this? Instead of a boy, one of the black garbed ones was a dog with purple eyes and no feet. Their names were Link, Shadow, Vio, Dark Shadow, Red, Emerald, Blue, and the dog named Cross bones.

During their adventure to rescue princess Zelda from an evil creature named Vaati, the seven boys and the dog faced many challenges, such as defeating a giant evil caterpillar named Moldorm. After many long days and nights, crossing between light world and dark world, the seven boys and Cross bones finally arrived at Vaati's palace of winds to put an end to him. With the final blow of the master sword to Vaati's large eyeball, everyone was sent back in time, loosing all memory of what had happened. Everyone was separated, but one day, light and dark was destined to meet again...
