"Well...this is not what we were expecting." Ogron says, shocked.

"Someone you love...?" Anagan murmurs.

"And it's a wizard from this world." Gantlos grits his teeth.

"I'm as shocked as you are, but Hermione is very thorough in her research and seldom wrong. She isn't called the smartest witch of her age for nothing." Harry says, a grim look on his face.

Hermione looks down. "For once, I wish I was wrong."

Ron wraps an arm around her shoulders. "Well, let's look at it this way: we know what's going on now."

"True, but we don't know the culprit. We only know it's a wizard of your kind. We may not be able to find said witch or wizard in time." Tecna points out.

"Don't say that!" Gantlos snaps.

"Gantlos, calm down. We need to be level headed if we're going to figure this out." Ogron says, putting a hand on the angry mans shoulder.

Some of the anger releases from Gantlos' body, but he still looks displeased.

"Is there some kind of spell that could narrow the list of suspects down?" Timmy asks.

"Afraid not. Whoever did this made sure to leave little trace of who they are." Hermione explains.

"Then what do we do now?" Bloom asks.

"We search through the past." Luna says.

Everyone turns to her, confused looks plastered on their faces, minus Harry.

"That's brilliant Luna!" Harry praises.

"What are you talking about?" Brandon asks, still confused.

"Simple. We look through the Wizard of the Black Circle's past. People they have come into contact with, deeds they've done, places they've been. Given hold old they are and their not so great track record, it will be difficult, but it's better than searching blindly." Harry states.

"Oh. But how're we going to do that? Question them? They may not remember everything..." Roxy says.

"We'll use a pensieve. It's a stone basin that can be used to view people's memories, though they need to be extracted from the person first." Harry says.

"That's quite a useful tool." Nabu says, looking interested.

"Will it hurt the wizards?" Flora asks, concerned.

"Not at all. The taxing part is watching your past laid out in front of you." Harry answers.

"I take it you've used this on yourself before?" Helia asks, noticing Harry's discomfort.

"Yes...but they weren't my memories. They were a teacher of mine's. He had a connection to my mother."

Nobody knows what to say to that so they leave it alone.

"Alright, so we extract the wizards' memories. One thing though: which memories?" Riven asks.

"Considering it's one of our kind who did this, it would be wise to search through memories of the wizards' time here. Intimate memories with people they came across, including us." Harry states, earning a few shocked stares.

"What do you mean 'including us?'" Stella asks.

"Hermione, Ron and I interacted the most with the wizards...I hate to think one of us could be the enemy, but we have to check all possibilities."

"Agreed." Hermione says, Ron nodding along.

"Honestly, I don't think any of you did it. If you did, why would you help us?" Anagan states.

"To keep tabs on the investigation and plan our next move." Ron says. "That's something I'm ashamed to admit we have done and would do..."

The mood in the room drops, no one, including said three wizards, wanting to believe it could be one of them.

"Well...we won't know until we look through some memories. Maybe." Bloom says, trying to change the subject.

"Right." Hermione says. "Neville, Luna, could you gather some ingredients we may need from the greenhouse? Harry, I'll need you to start preparing the pensieve while I extract the memories from the wizards. Ron, you stay on standby with Madam Pomfrey in case Duman has another fit."

"On it." Neville and Luna exit the room.

"I'll go get started in the potions room."

"Good." Hermione turns to the wizards. "So who wants to go first?"

Several ingredients collected later and a pensieve set up, everyone's ready to go. Except the wizards, who're still deciding which one of them will share their memories first.

On one hand, they don't want to show the pesky fairies and specialists their memories. They don't want to let themselves be vulnerable to them. On the other hand, this may be the only thing that can help Duman. In the end, it's not a hard choice.

"I'll go first since I'm closest to Duman." Gantlos says. "I request however, that you don't poke into memories that aren't for your viewing."

"Fair enough." Hermione agrees. "Now what I need you to do is think of a specific, intimate moment you had while in the wizarding world."

"That may be difficult for me as I'm not a very emotional man."

"Take your time. The more intimate the memory, the higher chance we'll find something."

Gantlos thinks...a specific moment...a intimate moment...

"Alright, I think I have one. It's not quite intimate, but I think it'll do."

"Good. Now keep the memory in your mind." Hermione holds her wand to Gantlos' temple.

"This won't have any negative side effects will it?"

"No. All I'm doing is pulling a string of the memory from your mind to view, like a film reel."

Everyone but Harry, Ron, Luna and Neville watch in amazement as a blue stream is pulled from seemingly nowhere out of Gantlos' temple, then put in a small bottle for holding.

"Fascinating." Timmy and Tecna say at the same time.

"Now that we have the memory, we'll view it in the pensieve. A word of warning: our minds will be in the memory but not our physical bodies. We can't change anything that's happened or touch anyone. No one can hear or see us, we're just spectators. Now off to the potions room. We have a memory to watch."

"Wow. That's the pensieve?" Bloom asks, staring at the basin. "It looks like something from medieval times."

"Well, the wizarding world may be advancing, but we're still stuck in medieval like times." Harry says, snorting.

"I take it you don't like it very much?" Sky asks.

"Course not, but that's a topic for later discussion. If you want to hear it that is."

"Focus everyone." Hermione walks up to the basin Harry prepared, pouring the memory into it.

"So what do we do now?" Stella asks. "Jump in that thing?"

"No, we just stick our heads in like you would in water. From there, we'll be in the memories mentally."

"So it'll be like a 3D movie of sorts?" Roxy asks.

"Sort of." Harry answers. "But more realistic."

"Everyone ready? Any last minute things you need to do like go to the bathroom?" Hermione asks. "Because once we go into the memories, it could take a while."

Everyone shakes their heads. All good.

"Okay. Harry, would you show them how it's done?"

"I shall."

Harry walks over to the basin, bending down and sticking his whole face in.

"He's now submerged in the memories. Gantlos, if I may ask, would you be the one to stay behind and shake us out of it if we go to deep?"

"Sure. Don't really feel up to seeing my own memory anyway."

"Thank you. Gather round everyone and do as Harry did."

The winx and specialists do as Hermione instructs, the world suddenly feeling like it's tilting and fading around them.

Once the world comes back into focus, the first thing they notice is they're in a foggy forest at night, Harry standing in front of them.

Behind him, Ron and Gantlos are sitting on a log, talking. Except this isn't the present Ron and Gantlos, but the past.

"That's Ron...and Gantlos. What're they talking about?" Helia asks.

"I don't know, but I can't imagine Ron and Gantlos of all people having an intimate moment." Riven says.

"What makes you think that?" Harry asks.

"Well, Ron seems very wary of the wizards and not very social with them."

"True, but that's the present. This is the past." Hermione states.

"Let's see what it has in store for us."

"So you're the muscle of your group?" Ron asks Gantlos.

"Yup."

"Do you play any other roles?"

"No."

"Not very talkative are you?"

Gantlos nods. "I tend to just listen."

"Why?"

"I'm just the muscle. All I need to know is what to do in our plans."

Ron frowns. "You don't find that frustrating?"

"No. If I can protect what matters, who cares about talking and thinking."

Ron's frown deepens. "Do you really believe that?"

"Yes."

"That's...sad."

Gantlos raises an eyebrow. "What about it is sad?"

"You let your fellow team members do all the talking and thinking without a second thought. Don't you want to contribute more?"

"I don't see the point. We all have our roles in the group."

"Roles huh? Sounds familiar..."

Gantlos looks at Ron. "You seem upset."

"I-I am." Ron admits. "We may have just met, yet I feel ticked off by what you just said. Among my friends, Hermione's the brains and Harry the fighter. I'm just...stupid, talentless Ron. Don't get me wrong, Hermione and Harry are my best friends, but sometimes the way they overshadow me...it makes me feel like I'm not useful."

"If you weren't useful, wouldn't they say so?"

"No. Everyone else does though..."

"There you have it then. They're not the ones saying it, so that must mean you're just as important to them. You have a place and a purpose. A role as you said. You just can't see it yet. You let the words of others cloud your thoughts about yourself."

Ron stares in shock then awe at Gantlos.

"I see now why you're so confident and not questioning yourself."

"Oh?"

"You went through something similar to me haven't you? A point where you questioned your usefullness?"

Gantlos actually smiles. "Indeed. There was a time when I felt alone, being left out of the planning process and only told my role to play in it. Eventually though, my fellow wizards told me otherwise. They thought I was content to step back, so they left it alone. Once they learned the truth, they asked what I wanted. I told them I already got it. For them to acknowledge that I'm important to them and useful. I didn't need to be a part of the planning so long as they knew that."

"So you found your answer by simply talking to them?"

"Yes. Perhaps you should try it."

Ron smiles. "Perhaps I will...just not now. We're on an important mission."

Gantlos claps Ron on the back. "All the more reason to do it now. No time like the present."

The memory ends, everyone being sucked out of it.

"Well that wasn't helpful." Stella states bluntly.

"Stella!" Everyone yells.

"What, I'm just saying what I think. What did we learn from that memory? Nothing but Ron's insecurities from the past."

Gantlos bristles. "Perhaps you could learn a thing or two from that memory puny fairy."

Stella glares at Gantlos, ready to retort but Brandon holds her back, shaking his head.

"It may not seem like useful information on the surface, but if we look deeper, we may find something." Hermione says, frowning at Stella in disapproval.

Stella huffs and turns away.

"Should we ask Ron about his memory of that conversation?" Flora asks.

"That would be ideal. We can gain a different perspective from him compared to Gantlos." Harry says. "Though, what I did get from that memory is that your talk really helped Ron and he seemed to be in awe of you after that. Now that I recall, you two talked a lot and he seemed to admire you a lot."

"He did?" Gantlos asks, baffled.

"You didn't notice?" Hermione asks. "He always took direction from you, listened to what you had to say and went with you everywhere when he could."

Gantlos looks stunned.

Harry chuckles. "You made quite the impression on Ron." Harry's face then hardens. "Which is why he took it hardest when you betrayed us."

"Do you think Ron's admiration of Gantlos still exists in some form despite the betrayal that he would hurt Duman? I hate to say it...but he can still be immature at times and hold grudges..." Neville says, biting his lip nervously.

"Innocent until proven guilty. I don't want to think my best friend would do something like that either, so our best course of action is to question Ron." Harry says with a frown.

"Alright, let's go talk to suspect number one: Ron."
