"In Roman mythology, Libitina was the Goddess of funerals, corpses, and death."
Said Sam reading from his laptop screen. The eight men were inside a large motel room, obtained after the old trickster had his way with the man who owned the motel. The wall paper was a light blue and had random vertical white lines. There was a small tv beside the mini fridge and a small table which Sam currently sat at. Dean, Cas, and Lucifer occupied the two beds while everyone else stood around.
"So she's a Roman Goddess?"
Dean asked.
"That is what he just said."
Castiel said looking at Dean and Dean put up his hand to block Cas and continued talking.
"Roman gods are older than most other than the Greek. Since she's the goddess of death she would've been given payment for taking the souls of the dead or being present at burials, hence the coin around her neck."
Dean stood and walked past Crowley to stand behind Sam.
"Is there anything else about her?"
He asked.
"You sound as if you wish to kill her."
Castiel spoke. Dean and Sam looked at him.
"This is how you complete your hunts."
Cas added.
"They couldn't kill her if they wanted."
Raphael said sitting in a chair by the door.
"Out of curiosity, why not?"
Sam asked. Sam wouldn't kill her anyways, he owed her for saving him.
"Libitina is the daughter of Death boys, you couldn't even think about it before daddy had your lives."
Crowley said putting emphasis on the word daughter. Dean sighed and leaned down next to Sam.
"Sammy, is there anything else on this chick?"
He asked again and Sam started looking on other sites for any lore.
"Uhh...this one is repeating the basics, but it says that she may have once been an earth goddess who turned into the goddess of death."
Sam said with a confused face.
"Turned into?"
Dean questioned.
"Since when can a god change themselves that much?"
Dean asked the surrounding angels, and Crowley.
"Well probably the same way an angel can become a trickster. If they have enough power, one can do anything."
Gabriel shrugged. Michael walked towards Sam.
"Regardless, if she was once an earth goddess that means she was once a goddess of life. Daughter of Death she may be, but she can both give and take life."
He said.
...
Outside of the motel stood the Goddess in question. Libitina listened as the boys tried to break her history down and that made her want to smile. True, she had once been an earth goddess but it was a front put on by her for the humans as an order from her father. She has always been and always will be a goddess of death.
"It isn't nice to eavesdrop."
She didn't have to look to know who it was.
"I allowed you to sense my presence for a reason Gabriel."
She turned to the former trickster who had a smirk on his face.
"And I'm honored Libby. Had to leave a copy in there with my brothers, which means I don't have long."
Gabriel said. Libitina ignored the name Gabriel had given her, not wanting to kill the archangel.
"It would be in your best interest to keep your eyes to yourself. A message from my father."
She vanished from the spot she was standing in, leaving Gabriel alone.
"That so?"
He said smiling.
