Chapter 10

We just stood there eating chocolate chip pancakes, watching you sleep on the bathroom floor.

"Good morning, sunshine," Lucy muttered into the back of her most favorite person in the world. She didn't expect him to be here this morning since he had gone on a mission with Gray earlier that week. So being able to wake up in his arms was a nice surprise.

"Mornin' Luce," Natsu mumbled from his pillow.

"What time did you get in?" she replied with a yawn before she sat up, blankets pooling at her waist.

"Around four," Natsu mumbled, snuggling deeper into the bed.

Lucy leaned over to give him a quick kiss on the mouth. He snaked his arm around her waist and pulled her so she was in front of him, her legs hanging over his body. The position itself was uncomfortable and made her laugh into his mouth. She felt him smirk a little. Lucy pulled away to look into Natsu's sleepy eyes and she smiled, placing a kiss on his nose.

"I'm going to go cook some breakfast," she said, untangling herself from him and pulling on a pair of shorts. She heard Natsu whine when she did so. She leaned over and tied her hair into a messy bun on the top of her head before she made her way to the kitchen to start breakfast.

Normally, she wouldn't bother cooking a real breakfast, and pull out some cereal and eat it on the go, or go to Fairy Tail and eat there. But, Natsu had a big job and Lucy thought he deserved it for coming back with little injuries and didn't destroy her house in the process. He did seem very tired, too, so she thought she would do something nice for him.

She pulled the pan out of the cabinet and began mixing the pancake batter. She and Natsu didn't eat pancakes very often, so she figured it would be a nice surprise. She even threw in chocolate chips to top it off.

It wasn't long before the smell of breakfast dragged the dragon slayer out of bed, rubbing his hair and his stomach as he shuffled over in a sleepy daze.

"Wow, what's the occasion?" Natsu said, leaning over her shoulder as she cooked.

Lucy smiled down at the pancakes as she flipped them over, almost done making the whole batch. "Nothing! I just figured we deserved a nice breakfast, that's all."

Natsu laughed before pulling down some plates from the cabinet, which surprised Lucy. She didn't expect him to help her get everything together. She was planning on setting the table herself. Shoving the last pancake on top of the spare plate she had next to the stove, Lucy threw the spatula down and wiped her hands off.

"I'm going to run to the bathroom, can you get the plates together?" she asked as she headed for the bathroom.

The dragon slayer nodded in response as he headed to pick up Lucy's discarded spatula and pancakes. Smiling to herself, as seeing Natsu do this much in the kitchen was a blessing, she turned on her heel before finally setting off for the bathroom. She ran a hand through her hair as she twisted the doorknob before almost letting out a scream of terror.

There, sprawled out on the bathroom floor was a very familiar Ice Mage. He was topless and his arms were akimbo as he slightly drooled from the corner of his mouth. There were some bruises on his body, which were probably from the mission. Lucy narrowed her eyes at the sleeping mage before quickly turning around and heading right back to the kitchen.

"Natsu Dragneel," the blonde growled, "what the hell is Gray doing sleeping in my bathroom?"

The salmon-haired boy looked up from drowning his pancakes in syrup to meet eyes with his pissed off girlfriend. He tilted his head to the side in confusion.

"He's in our bathroom?"

"No, moron, I'm just complaining for no reason," she crossed her arms. She really needed to use the bathroom. However, the thought of waking up the ice mage didn't really cross her mind until after she went to complain, so she might as well roll with the complaining thing.

Natsu handed Lucy her plate of pancakes before he walked past her, heading for the bathroom. Lucy followed him closely behind. He let out a slightly deranged laugh before leaning on the doorframe, sticking his fork into the pancakes again.

"Why is he here, Natsu?" Lucy asked again, wanting an answer on why she had an uninvited guest. She was glad she was dressed.

"Well, when we got off our mission, Gray asked if he could use the bathroom, and I guess he passed out in here," Natsu surmised before shoving more chocolate chip pancakes into his mouth.

Lucy glanced at her boyfriend and then down to her other teammate sleeping on the floor. Letting out a sigh, she leaned herself against the other side of the doorframe before eating her pancakes as well. The couple stood there for a couple more minutes, eating the chocolate chip pancakes and watching Gray sleep soundly on the floor.

"Damn, Luce, these pancakes are good," he mumbled with his mouth full.

"Thanks," she replied, mouth equally as full.

Their conversation continued like that until a loud, "what the fuck" broke them from it. Lucy and Natsu turned to the previously sleeping body on the ground, who was now backed up against the bathtub, eyes agape.

"Why in the world are you two watching me sleep!?" Gray cried as he stared at the couple accusingly.

"I dunno," Natsu shrugged.

"Maybe you should find a new bed instead of my bathroom floor," Lucy growled, remembering she had to use the restroom. She placed her half eaten pancakes into Gray's hands and yanked him up to his feet before pushing him and Natsu out of the doorway, slamming the door in their faces.

"Does this mean I get free breakfast as well?" Gray questioned.
