..Unknown Existence..
Chapter 1
*..*..*..*..*
A dream, a fantasy, or a reality…
The singing voice of a little girl was the first return to Usui's mind as soon as a poster was given to him, a poster that promoted an inn, an inn the formed a small hotel in the middle of a forest.
'Fancy beddings made of Cotton that is imported from Egypt. Breathtaking scenery of a charming nature will give you the most relaxing time of your life. A new menu and new flavors of food to experience…..etc'
None of what was written on the poster mattered to Usui. What mattered to him was the forest it was located at. There was a small old house, not too far from that inn. There was a well besides that house. He knew 'cause he was there, and there, he met her…
Her voice still sings for his ears so purely. If he closed his eyes, he would utterly believe that she is right next to him. He had a vague memory of her face; it's been seven years since they met.
Yet, Usui didn't know how his heart still tickles him with a strange feeling whenever he remembers her. He was ten years old, so how could he still keep such a memory, when it happened so long ago?
In that inn, Usui was in a trip with his nonchalant mother. There were many women chatting with her. No one cared to give him attention. Staying there was tedious to him. Even the stories book he used to read wasn't with him to fill his time.
Being the reckless child he was, he used the chance to explore the forest that surrounded the inn. Leaving the inn wasn't hard, for his mother was too engaged in her chat to notice Usui's disappearance.
The weather was cool. The air was fresh, not tainted by the city's smoke. Usui's sight was fixed on the blue sky. He smiled when he could imagine the clouds forming a smiling face. A little yellow-green tinted bird crossed the sky above him, and then resided on a branch of the highest tree in the area. The tree stood with glory among the other trees and bushes.
He loved the forest. It was dazzling for a ten years old child like him, but soon, he realized he had lost his way through the forest. The darkness on the night enveloped everything if it wasn't for the moon light. The little Usui still didn't find his way back.
He was starting to shiver due to the wind that became colder. Fear started to creep into his chest. There was no hint of safety in his surroundings. He drew a sharp breath out of fear; he heard a wild animal's voice. He was losing hope to find his way back, and was on the verge of crying, when he heard:
Kumono nagareru saki ni nani ga aruto iuuno?
What's waiting beyond the moving cloud?
Morino mukou no ashita o shitte shimatta no ne
I think you've discovered it over that side of forest
The tears that were about to fall froze in his eyelids. It was as if the singing voice was talking to him.
It was calming although he knew no source of it. It was gentle although he didn't exactly know the meaning of the words. It calmed his fear in a magical way, changing his speeding heartbeats' pace to a calm rhythm. 'Soothing' was the word to describe it, just as lullaby would calm a child.

Go, now

It's the promised home, Don't look back
As if the words were mesmerizing, he followed the voice.

Believe it, now
He was becoming closer to the source of voice, truly believing he would find his home. The voice was his guide, but why was it so sad? He wondered.
A little girl, around his age, is what he saw from behind the trees. She was the source of the voice. She was singing while standing behind a big rock that was besides a well. The rock allowed him to see nothing but her face. She didn't seem to notice him. He observed from afar, not wanting to interrupt her singing.
Afureru omoi tsuyosani kaete
I'll turn my accumulating emotions into strength.
Kakemawaru anata no ashioto
Hearing your footsteps
The words she sang, the melody, it all felt so… lonely.
She was looking at the sky. As if she was sucked into it by some sort of force. Her sight was glued to it while she was singing the words that touched every part of him, paralyzing him. He couldn't move because he didn't want to disturb her voice by any noise he may make.
As soon as she finished singing, he woke from the trance he didn't realize he was in before, as if a magician snapped his fingers to indicate the end of a spell.
Usui appeared from behind the trees. Upon seeing him, the girl got flustered. He thought he scared her, so he apologized.
"I'm sorry; I didn't mean to scare you."
"It's... It's not that. D… Did you hear me?" She asked, a gracious smile arose her lips, along with a slight blush on her face.
"Yes." He answered, tilting his head, embarrassed.
They stood silent for moments, and then he asked: "Why are you singing such a sad song?"
"Anoo..." She started, and then paused. She opened and closed her mouth many times as if she was hesitating what to say.
"It's a message" The words finally came out.
"To who?" he asked. It's a message? What kind of message is that?
"I don't know. For anyone who'd play with me" She answered, shyly. It seemed like she was just a lonely child.
"Then am I allowed to take the message?" he smiled as he asked, excited. He seems to have forgotten everything about where he was, which he didn't know where. At that moment, he just wanted to play with her.
"Sure!" She perked up!
He smiled wider, and stepped closer to her.
"Don't!" She yelled abruptly. The smile that was apparent on her face disappeared, leaving no trace behind. She frowned, as if she was afraid of him.
"What?" He asked as he stopped dead in his tracks, perplexed by the sudden outburst.
"Don't come closer" She ordered. She seemed as if she was about to cry. He wondered why.
He was about to ask what was wrong, but she merged into the many trees around. He chased after her, but he couldn't see her anymore. It was confusing how fast she vanished.
Once again, he felt the fear of being alone and lost. It slapped him harder than before. Where he stood was dark. Chillness was attacking his delicate skin. Something was rustling the bushes behind him. He didn't dare look back. Just when he was intending to run, that creature grasped him. That creature was his mother.

"Say, Takumi, I still don't know why we are here. I have a feeling that this is not just for fun "a brown haired guy; Ichiro asked, curious.
"I'm not sure either" Usui answered while waiting in the line for rooms' keys to be given to them. There was a long line to make the reservation of the inn's rooms; people from all ages came.
The weather was nice around that time of the year, and the inn's location was famous for its marvelous nature. People visited it to relax, but Usui didn't come for the same purpose.
He wanted to finish the reservation, dump his backpack in any room, and head off towards his main destination.
Matching thoughts with deeds, he left the inn as soon as he finished the reservation.
"Where are you going?" Ichiro asked as he saw followed Usui out.
"To explore around"
"Let's explore tomorrow. Dark will come soon. We came late after all" Ichiro said, not feeling any of guilt for being the cause of the delay.
To him, it was the pie's fault. He was drugged by its 'not yet' spreading smell, a smell that reached his 'imagination' just by looking at the pie's ingredients. He didn't have the heart to leave before it was baked. He just couldn't.
"There's a place I want to see" Usui replied, confirming that he'll keep on his plans.
Ichiro sighed in defeat; there was no point in trying to get Usui to change his mind.
*..*..*..*..*
The only voice that could be heard around was the eerie silence. It was disturbed by the voice of the wind rustling in the trees every once in a while.
The weather was becoming colder. The night tried to envelope everything in its darkness, but to no avail; the moon gleamed in its full glory. It was as if that night, seven years ago, came to life; the weather was the same.
The two guys could hear the crunching voice of the branches and the dry leafs, that were smashed under their boots as the trudged on their unknown way in the forest.
"Why don't we return? It's dark. We've been walking for hours pointlessly. We didn't find the place you are talking about" Ichiro groused.
"It's been a long time so I don't remember where to go exactly" Usui replied, knitted his eyebrows in quandary.
"That's why I say it's better to return now and search in the morning" Ichiro rephrased his point.

Go, now
"Shh... Did you hear that?" Usui whispered, after shushing Ichiro up.
Ichiro stayed silent in order to listen, but he heard nothing.
Kokoro de kiita koe no hou e
To the direction of the voice you heard by your heart
Usui picked up his pace, walking towards the source of the voice. The voice was a bit deeper now, but he knew who it belonged to.

Believe it, now
Usui's heart was beating faster with each step; the same song, the same melody. He couldn't verify if what he was hearing was his imagination's doing, or it was real.
He just walked, almost running, but he didn't run; in fear of losing the track of the voice due to the voice of his footsteps.

Eveything you choose
Ano kaze ga dakishimete kureru
That wind will come to cover it
Usui's steps stopped. The sight was familiar. The same place, the same rock that blocked his sight of the girl before, but now, he could see more than just her face, probably because the girl grew taller.
She was wearing a purple kimono. Her voice became deeper than before, lonelier. Her black hair locks danced with the wind in front of her eyes. It seemed as if the wind enjoyed sifting through her hair. She had a hoping smile as she sang, and the moonlight enabled him to perfectly see her beautiful existence.
He was drawn to her voice. It tickled his heart feathery although he could sense pain in it. That hoping smile made him wonder: what was she hoping for?
He didn't know how, but he felt a strong need to save her, from that loneliness that seemed to swallow her. He felt the need to grant her whatever she was hoping for. Yet, he couldn't move; he was entranced by her.
Upon finishing her singing, just like that time seven years ago, Usui was awoken from his trance by the cruel silence.
"Your message, am I allowed to be taking it again?" Usui asked, appearing from behind the trees while giving a tender smile.
She got flustered as she noticed him. It was as if time was repeating itself.
"You..." She uttered, her eyes widened, and her heart skipped a beat.
Although he grew, and although all that time had passed, she recognized him.
"I'm Usui Takumi. May I know your name?" Usui asked, in calmness that did not go in harmony with both of their beating hearts.
"A..ayuzawa Mi..saki" She stuttered, averting her eyes.
"You have a nice name"
He stepped closer. She stepped back in confusion, and then, she emerged into the trees.
He ran after her, not seeing clearly due to how the shadow of the trees was covering the area.
Usui was at a loss; he couldn't just let her disappear again.
What he felt when he saw her, how she snatched almost every sense in him away, he just had to stop her, but to no avail; as if she was a dream, he could see no trace of her anymore.
He felt desperate. A pang of pain attacked his heart; why was she running? Why was she scared?
He looked at his surroundings in a defeat. He found himself in an open area, standing at the bottom of a cliff or a mountain. He couldn't verify which it was.
He heard noise from the rocky side besides him. He looked above, at the source of the noise, only to realize rocks collapsed, and were about to hit him.
Before he could make any attempt to move, he felt a strong force push him away, making him fall away from the rocks. Usui's body came to rest after tumbling on the ground.
He looked at his surroundings in bafflement; who, no, what in the world had pushed him?
He could see nothing due to the dust that covered every corner of his vision. The collapse was big enough to send piles of dust flying in the air.
"Takumi, are you alright?" Ichiro asked as soon as he could find Usui.
"Yes" Usui answered, still in his daze.
"Great. That was close! I thought you were buried under the rocks!" Ichiro said in relief.
"Who were you talking to? And why were you running?" Ichiro rained him with worried words as he helped him to get up.
"Misaki, the girl who was singing" Usui answered shortly.
"Singing? I heard nothing" Ichiro stated skeptically.
"Are you sure you are fine? I'm very positive you were talking to air" Ichiro frowned while saying the words, feeling fear creep into his chest..
"You mean… you didn't see her?" Usui asked in confusion.
"No, no one was there." Ichiro confirmed.
Getting no answer from Usui, Ichiro said:" Let's return to the inn"
