she could make him blush anytime, anywhere.

"Ta-da!"

She burst out of the dressing room with a flourish, her hair curled and styled, wearing the brand-new dress she had just bought from Hearthome's Gallery. Pink silky ribbons decorated and beautified her outfit, complete with some silver high heels. Dawn spun around so that her friend could see, her dress twirling around her like cherry blossoms fall from the tree. "How do you like my new dress, Kenny?"

As she continued to smile sweetly at him, disaster struck:

He blushed.

"Kenny?" She peered at him closely. "Your cheeks are kind of red. What's the matter?" He didn't know whether she was teasing him or not, but nevertheless, he felt his cheeks burn even harder. These days, he couldn't stop flushing at the sight of Dawn. It was the strangest thing. Especially now, when she was all dressed up and ready for a Contest, and looking so...pretty.

Kenny! You have a Contest to prepare for, so stop staring at Dawn, of all people! he admonished himself, but still he couldn't tear his gaze from her. Kenny swore there was a princess standing right in front of him, and hoped (wished, actually) that he was the prince.

"Hey, so how do I look?" Dawn was waving her hand in front of his face, snapping him out of his thoughts. However, as she examined his bright red face, she quickly caught on to his current situation and let out a giggle as high and bubbly as her personality. "Oh, Kenny, you're blushing!"

"W-what? No, I'm not!"

Her smile widened. "Oh, yes you are! I'm gonna go tell Ash and Brock!" With that, she skipped away and disappeared around the corner in the Contest lobby, leaving Kenny with his mouth open, about to call out to her but too embarrased to speak. Boy, did he get humiliated easily.

When he and Dawn were in kindergarten, he enjoyed teasing her, calling her Dee-Dee and seeing her face turn red at the nickname. But now she'd turned the tides against him, and he didn't like that at all.

Not one bit.

Kenny, he told himself sternly, whatever you do, STOP BLUSHING.
