"Kurt I need to discuss something with you, but I'd like to take you out to dinner first,"
"Are you asking me out on a date?" Kurt asked as Blaine sort of nodded with a hesitant smile "That is of course, if you want to…"
Kurt threw his arms around him.
"I don't expect anything fancy okay Blaine, but I'd love to," Kurt beamed.
Blaine took Kurt to a cute little Italian restaurant and when Kurt first saw it he shook his head "No, no you can't afford to spend this on me,"
"Kurt…"
"No, this is far to expensive, even the entrees cost an arm and a leg, I'm happy to go to McDonalds you know,"
"Kurt trust me. It's okay,"
"Did you guys make a reservation?" A waitress asked as Blaine nodded "Table for 2 please under the name Anderson?"
The lady checked her clipboard and smiled widely at them as though on auto pilot "Right this way Mr Anderson,"
They sat down and as they ordered, Blaine frowned noticing how cheap Kurt was trying to keep his order.
"Kurt. I want you to order something you like, I know you don't like pasta. Obviously you bought it to save me from expense,"
Kurt shook his head "I told you nothing fancy," Blaine reached for his hand and brought it to his lips. He kissed his knuckles "Sweetheart I have the money for tonight, please relax, and buy something you'll enjoy,"
He called the waiter and Kurt sighed not wanting to hurt Blaine's pride he ordered the soup earlier that had sounded delicious.
Blaine's smile was worth it.
"I quit Zumba," Blaine said after they finished their first course and were waiting for dessert. Blaine got the waiter to get Kurt their best cheesecake. He knows Kurt loves cheesecake and one of the ladies from Zumba said this was the best restaurant to go to for that.
Kurt froze looking like he was going to puke "Blaine what? I don't…why would you take me out on a news like that!"
Blaine laughed "Don't worry baby,"
"DON'T YOU DARE TELL ME NOT TO WORRY. YOU'RE MY BOYFRIEND,"
Blaine loved it when Kurt called him boyfriend in public and he tried not to grin too much because Kurt was fuming and he had to settle Kurt down.
"Sweetheart it's okay,"
"Did your mom have anything to do with this!?"
"No Kurt…"
"Was it Cooper, or dad or…anybody. You need those classes to live on! How are you going to afford to pay for…" "KURT stop."
That was effective as the cheesecake arrived and Kurt and Blaine was sentenced to silence after Blaine thanked the waiter.
Kurt wouldn't touch his cheesecake, glaring at it as though it's the reason Blaine quit his job.
"Sweetie, please eat the cheesecake,"
"No," Kurt said stubbornly.
"At least have the strawberry,"
Kurt saw the pleading look on Blaine's face and sighed. He took of the strawberry and gasped dropping it as he saw what appeared to be an engagement ring hiding ontop of his cheesecake.
"I…."
"Kurt hummel," Blaine said as he knelt in front of Kurt. Kurt shook his head looking around as though to escape.
Blaine was going insane, what's wrong with him! He was gaping though, his heart beating out of his chest as he watched his boyfriend propose to him. People were going oohs and awws around the restaurant and watching with him.
"My most amazing friend. I know you're upset, and you're worried about my wellbeing. I quit Zumba because I got a job, as a teacher, I'll be able to pay rent, be home on holidays with you, take you out on more fancy dates, and give you all that you deserve.
I know it's not much now, but I'm hoping that within a couple of years, maybe if I work hard enough, I can get a promotion or work in 2 jobs, but I love you far too much to let you go. I can't let you go, you make me so happy and so I'm asking, for an engagement, a promise that one day there can be a future for us, it doesn't have to be right away but this is just a promise for each other and all I can think of is a future with you and…maybe kids, we don't have to have kids of course!'
Blaine rambled and Kurt smiled "Blaine." He pulled Blaine's suspender so that he would move of the ground towards him and kissed him hard.
The restaurant erupted with applause and as he let go he leaned his forehead against Blaine's "I do,"
