GraLu week! Yay!
Day One: Breath
Lucy was never quite sure how he did it.
Gray both her breath away, and was the reason for her breathing.
Every time she saw him, oxygen seemed to stop reaching her brain.
And every morning when she woke up, she was so happy to be alive in a world that included Gray.
He was her breath.
Sure Natsu, Erza, Levy, and the rest were great, but Lucy had a feeling that Gray was the reason she was in Fairy Tail.
Her destiny.
So when Juvia had shown up. Lucy had been devastated.
The two were made for each other.
Water and Ice. Two complementary elements that twisted together in a never-ending dance.
Ice can't exist without water.
Gray made her go crazy, yet at the same time helped her keep calm when dealing with the chaotic thing known as life. Despite this, she decided to back off. She buried whatever feelings she had and smiled through the pain.
Maybe they weren't meant to be.
He was just a very large mark on the page of her life. Someday she'd find someone who really was her destiny.
There were times when she had hope.
The whole "I won't hand Lucy over even if I die."
Or when Gemini revealed Gray's opinion of her. (Somewhat interested in her!)
Or when he rescued her from that boat in Edolas, and ended up on top of her.
Those times had made her hyperventilate. But she had no hope.
Did she?
"Oi! Lucy! Your pretty spaced out. What are you thinking about?" Gray snapped Lucy put of her reverie, and it became harder for her to draw breath.
"Nothing..." Lucy sighed.
"That's not like you," Gray pointed out.
Lucy almost (almost) gasped out loud. 'He knows what I think about!' a corner of her mind screamed.
"Actually, I was wondering when you and Juvia would start dating." Lucy said daringly.
"Why would I start dating her? She's not my type, I'm certainly not attracted to creepy stalkers like her."
"You aren't?" Lucy asked.
"Geez Luce, you don't seem to have a very high opinion of me. Of course I don't like Juvia that way, I even told her that myself," Gray rolled his eyes, "Besides, I could do so much better."
"Oh..."
"For a while there's been this one cute girl who I'm crazy for." Gray smiled at Lucy sunnily.
"That's... great," Lucy smiled back as well as she could manage.
Her breath was unsteady.
"Whoever the girl is, she's very lucky," Lucy plunged on bravely.
"Yes, you are," Gray grinned at her.
"Wha-" Lucy was at a loss for words.
And she could barely breathe.
