The Letter
"Now Henry," Regina said as they lounged in her black, white and grey tone decorated rooms that were accessed by a hidden door in her office that mimicked her mayor's office in Story Brooke, "why don't you read the letter from Emma while I make us some coco?"
Henry smiled as he sat down and ripped open the letter as Regina melted some Honeydukes chocolate into milk as she stirred, listening to his voice as he read the letter aloud.
"Hey kid… also I suppose I should say Hello Regina,
Excellent work with those Gryffindors, I told Jefferson and Luna about the problems they're causing for Grace and they wanted to know when the next Hogsmeade weekend is so that they can get special permission for Grace to go so they can take you, Grace, and the Lupin kid out to dinner as a thank you and Luna was particularly interested in seeing the Lupin kid, so I'd give him a heads up if I were you. Regina is welcome as long as she keeps her tormenting of Jefferson to a minimum."
Regina snorted as she sat Henry's cup in front of him with the whipped cream and cinnamon can while she put little marshmallows in hers and sat across from him, nodding for him to keep going after he gave her a smile.
"All has been pretty quiet these past few weeks and to be honest it's putting me on edge. Mom and dad love it but Gold is in the same boat as me, making me wonder if he's going to start a war, or at least trick one person into a ridiculous contract out of sheer boredom.
"How about you Henry? Are you still flying too close to the Forbidden Forest? It's forbidden for a reason! Tell me everything; it's the best part of our days to get a letter from you and read it. Grandma says hello and that she loves you while grandpa says to keep practicing your sword while gramps (I will never get over referring to Rumplestiltskin as gramps) says you better be a damned good wizard and duel him when you return.
With all our love,
~Mom 2 and Dad.
P.S. Tell Regina thanks for the updates. Hers tend to be more detailed…MOM!" Henry finished as he looked up and yelled.
Regina shrugged, smiling as he rolled his eyes and started putting the whip on his coco and covered the top of it in cinnamon, "Someone has to assure her you're alive."
Henry looked over the top of his mug exasperated "Because the price you had to pay of the thing you loved most to reverse the curse wasn't enough to assure her you'd protect me?"
Regina sighed, "I am the villain in your mother's and grandparents' stories Henry, of course she needs assurance."
"You're not a villain. You're my mom: I love you."
Regina smiled softly, a smile that had only been directed to five people in her life: her father, Daniel, at one point Snow White, Robin before Marian returned, and her Henry "I love you too."
The rest of the night was made up of Henry writing back to Emma and Regina reading over the history of this magical community. She was thoroughly disgusted by their overall attitude towards anyone different. No Dark Lord that appeared in their history had any viable reason to do so, simply the reason of power, like her mother. The laws and general populations knowledge of the muggle world was so far behind in Europe the last update of muggle technology specifically was 1913. They didn't any common knowledge about the atomic bomb, computers, cellphones, movies, television in general, the internet, medical advances or anything else remotely useful. She wondered if it was Grindlewald's influence and the war against him that caused the lack of information.
Regina sighed and leaned back in her armchair, looking decidedly improper. Things apparently had gotten better since the 'Golden Trio' of the wizarding world spoke well of muggles but Muggle Studies was still dated to roughly detailed information to the 1920's, with very spotty information after that time period and was still an elective. This would not do at all, after all she had gone out of her way to protect quite a few of her own devices, her laptop, while unable to connect to internet worked perfectly fine along with her printer, TV and DVD player. Her phone was harder to protect and had to be on Airplane mode the entire time so it wouldn't fry. She still didn't know the exact cause behind the destruction of most appliances and it was, quite frankly, putting her in a foul mood just thinking about it.
She started making a list of muggle history books to introduce to the muggle studies teacher, along with offering to show the class the appliances her and Henry used daily, even in the castle. Not like she had much to work on for her own classes, the little idiots were so attached to their wands they were barely out of the introductory stage after three weeks. They barely knew how to focus and see their own magical core. Honestly, what was the wizarding world teaching?
A/N: So much for two weeks, huh? Just... don't pay attention to any time estimates.
