Counsel Me

Alive

Tsuna threw the door to the hospital room open.

He felt the tight knot in his chest loosen when his eyes took in the scene in front of him. Enma was propped up on the bed, a large smile on his face, while Xanxus was perched on the windowsill across the room. Dino had pulled a chair up to the bed and was sitting next to Enma.

Enma caught sight of him first. His smile widened, his hands stilling in the gesture he'd been making, and he called out, "Tsuna! Hey! You didn't have to come see me!"

"You had surgery," Tsuna said. He crossed the room until he was standing near the bed. "You thought I wouldn't come?"

"It's not anything serious," Enma answered. He gave a shrug. "Just my organs giving out, you know?"

"You're hilarious," Tsuna commented drily. He glanced at Xanxus, "Is he telling the truth?"

There was a small nod, "It's just the appendix."

"Good." He glanced around the room before asking, "Adelheid isn't here?"

"She left when Xanxus and I got here," Dino said. "Did you know she hates him almost as much as I do? It's pretty great."

"Shut the fuck up, trash," Xanxus snapped.

"I think everyone should play nice when we're in a hospital room," Enma said. Xanxus just clicked his tongue, turning his gaze towards the window.

Tsuna watched him for a minute. He knew he'd been panicking when Aoba had called to tell him Enma was undergoing surgery, before it was explained why the surgery was happening, and he couldn't imagine how Xanxus had felt if the news had been delivered similarly. Although the man was good at hiding his feelings, he cared for Enma an awful lot.

"When are you leaving?" Tsuna said, finally tearing his gaze from Xanxus and focusing back on the patient.

"I have to stay over night, but as long as nothing happens overnight I'll be released in the morning." Enma kicked his heel against the bed, "Now sit down. Dino and I were swapping hospital stories. I'm sure you've got a few funny ones."

"Tsuna's got a lot of funny ones," Dino assured. "He's such a walking disaster that something always seems to happen."

Tsuna rolled his eyes, "You aren't one to talk, Dino."

As conversation drifted between them, Tsuna was filled with an overwhelming sense of affection and happiness.

He hated when it occurred in hospitals, but there was something calming about just being together with them.
