Rainbow Dash:
2300 Hrs
"Griffin to Nyan Cat, Griffin to Nyan Cat. Do you read? Over." Gilda's voice sounded through her headset. Giving an agitated sigh, Rainbow Dash replied, "I swear to Celestia. If you call me Nyan Cat one more fucking time, I will shoot you down."
"You're no fun." Gilda's voice sighed over the radio in response. "Besides, it's not like I call you Nyan Cat for just any old reason."
"And it's not just any old reason that I am seriously about to fly over there and kick your ass."
"Oh yeah? Bring it, Hot shot. Not even the Wonderbolts could shoot me down."
"Gilda, please. I am way more awesome than those so called Wonderbolts. I beat their fastest record ages ago."
"This is Lone Ranger trying to contact Gilda and Nya-" She cut off the other pilot's voice before he could finish. "Discord, I swear. If you call me Nyan Cat too, I'll drop both of you into the sea right now and finish this mission myself."
Both of her teammates laughs sounded through her headset, causing her to frown. "I'm sorry," Discord apologized, "But I just had to tell the two of you that your arguing is just too amusing."
"Oh yeah? Want me to tell you what's amusing you little –"
"RD, cool it. Captain's just screwing around with us." Gilda warned. "Besides, killing him now won't do you any good. We need all three planes to finish the job."
"So you keep saying." Dash muttered. Silence was the only reply she got, but she suspected Discord and Gilda were too busy talking to each other to include her. Not that she cared, but, just in case, she switched her mike off. She liked silence. It was . . . comforting. But, at the same time, she loved the screams of thousands as they burned and choked to death. She loved the sound of bombs dropping from hers and others planes, and the sound of them hitting the ground. She loved explosions, so loud and full of death.
"Guys, I just got word over the radio. We need to haul our asses on back to base, Pronto." Discord informed.
Switching her mike back on, she growled, "What. The. Hell. We already flew fifty miles out!"
"Major's orders, Dash." Discord replied. "Sorry."
*** (Next day)
2100 Hrs
"Hey, Nyan Cat," Gilda called out, causing Dash to grind her teeth in frustration. "It's your turn to buy us all a round of shots."
"Quit fucking calling me Nyan Cat, and I just might think about it." She muttered, burying her nose in the comic she was reading. It had something to do with Daring Do scaling the walls of a camp in search of the crystal heart. "Aww, come on!" Discord complained, slinging an arm around her neck. He reeked of alcohol, and he was defiantly slurring. "Don't be like that!"
Slowly lowering her comic book, she turned her gaze up to his in a glare. He immediately backed off. "Jeesh. Touchy."
"Don't mind her, Captain. She can be a real bitch when she wants to." Gilda laughed. She slapped Discord on the back. Grumbling something about the two them under her breath, Rainbow Dash pushed her comic aside. "If I get you two another round, will you leave me the hell alone?"
"Only if you get one too!" Gilda grinned, causing Dash to frown. "Whatever." She replied, signaling the bartender that she had an order. The girl stumbled over to them, giving her an awkward smile. "Hey, um, welcome to Daylight Tavern. I'm filling in for my sister at the moment. What – what can I get you?" The girl fidgeted awkwardly as she got no reply but silence and the weight of all three of their gazes.
The girl was the cutest person she had ever seen in her life. She looked to be around seventeen, so she was pretty young- which only added to her overall cuteness. Her dark purple hair matched the color of her eyes, which flickered from place to place uncertainly from time to time.
"What's your name?" Dash asked. The girl's gaze flickered down to the floor as she mumbled, "L- Luna . . ."
The girl ran her fingers through her hair, a blush spreading across her face as they continued to stare. "If I wasn't afraid of tying the knot, I'd propose to you right now and here." Discord stated, causing the girl to make a sound between a squeal and a whimper as she scooted away from all three of them.
Somebody sighed, stating agitatedly, "If you're only here to stare at my sister, I suggest you leave. Because, like it or not, she's not on the menu."
Luna's face instantly lit up as she pushed herself over the bar. "Sister!"
Turning around, Dash's eyes widen as she watch the younger girl launch herself at a woman she could only describe as . . . Stunning. The woman's rainbow hair fit perfectly with her pink eyes, but not well with her scowl. But, at the same time, it did. And everything else about the woman was . . . perfect. The way she moved. The way her voice sounded. The way she looked. Just . . . amazing.
The woman rolled her eyes, hugging her sister back briefly. "If you're going to gawk at me now, I hate to burst your bubbles. But, I'm not interested, girls."
"But I'm not a girl!" Discord stated, standing up as the woman walked behind the bar . . . Luna trailing after her. Giving Discord a little smirk, the woman replied, "I know."
"So what do you want?" She asked. "I know you didn't come here for just me and my sister's looks, so what do you want? By the way, name's Celestia."
Celestia smiled, patting her bouncing sister on the head. "Calm down, girly. "
"These two want another round of whatever they're drinking, and they won't let me read in peace unless I buy it for them." Dash replied, pinching the bridge of her nose in agitation. "And all I want to do is see whether or not Daring Do manages to get the Crystal Heart out of the clutches of those greedy wood trolls."
Luna's eyes widened. "You got the new edition? Lucky! The cheapest starting price is fifty dollars! And it's not even in the library yet! Could I borrow it while you're here? Pleeeeeeease?"
"Luna!" Celestia scolded her little sister gently. "She's a customer, not a library."
Dash laughed. "Well, if you want it that much, keep it kid. I can just buy another on the way to work tomorrow."
"Really?" Luna's eyes seem to light up. "Do you mean it?"
"Would I lie to you kid?" She grinned, sliding the comic over to the girl. "Don't answer that."
Luna gave a fan-girl squeal, snatching up the comic before darting away excitedly. Celestia smiled at her as she poured Gilda's and Discord's glass of whatever they were drinking. "Thanks. She's been begging me for that copy for over a week now, and things have been kind of tight, having to look after her all by myself. The series only came out a few years ago, and each time she has to wait until someone donates a copy or two to the library. So, she doesn't own a single copy."
The woman sighed, shaking her head as she changed the subject a little. "She doesn't get into much trouble, but it's pretty serious when she does."
"Hey Beautiful! Can I get a shot of whiskey? I'm dying to see that pretty face of yours over here." Some man called out. Muttering something under her breath, she called out, "If you refrain from hitting on me, I just might honor that request."
Taking a moment to pour the man his shot, the woman sighed once more as she returned. "So," Dash began, "What kind of trouble are we talking about? Petty thievery? Because, she looks too innocent for that."
"No, nothing like that." Celestia shook her head. "Do you remember how you and your friends all just stared at Luna when you first saw her?"
Dash nodded.
"Well, that's the problem. She's too . . . cute – if that is even possible. But, a lot worse things have happened to her when I leave her alone for just a handful of minutes. Just a few days ago, I had to go to the back to get some more Gin, and I returned to see a couple guys pulling at and peeking under her skirt. Needless to say, they're both wishing that they were hanging by their necks from the ceiling of their house right now."
Dash raised an eyebrow. "What'd you do?"
Celestia smirked. "Let's just say that they won't be showing off they're 'stuff' anymore."
Clapping the bartender on the back, she laughed. "I knew I wasn't alone in this world. Teammates have to look after each other, after all. So, we're all like siblings ourselves. We bicker, we fight, but we look out for one another."
"Sounds just like me and Luna . . ." The bartender sighed. "My previous statement just reminded me of something. Apparently, a family of three was murdered right in their own home. Apparently the mom, the dad, and the child were killed by some girl named Fluttershy. She's locked in a mental institution at this very moment, if I'm not mistaken."
'A family of three . . .?' Dash blinked at the thought. 'I wonder if I know them . . . But, they only person I'm friends with and has a family is . . . is Ditzy. Oh, no, no. no, no, no, no . . .'
"You . . . you wouldn't happen to know the mother's name would you?" She asked Celestia worriedly. Taking a moment to think, the bartender soon replied. "Ditzy Doo, if I'm not mistaken."
Dash couldn't help the small sob that escaped her as she covered her mouth with her hand. The woman blinked. "You knew her?"
She nodded, tears threatening to spill as she squeezed her eyes shut to stop them. Each one of them was a close friend of hers. She might have teased Doctor every time she saw him, but he always laughed along with her. And Dinky, she was the bright one between her and her mom. And, she always had a 'never give up!' spirit. Ditzy . . . Ditzy was her best friend in High School. She was a klutz, but she had heart. And, she always meant well . . . And she loved every single one of them . . . But now they were gone.
"Whoa, Dash. Are you crying?" Gilda asked, placing a hand on her. "Are you alright?"
Dash shook her head, standing. "I'm not crying, yet, but I will be. I- I need to go."
She pulled away from Gilda, turning to leave. "Wait!" Discord called out. "What's wrong, Dash?"
What's wrong? What's wrong? Her best friend and her family was dead. Murdered. That's what was wrong.
Looking back at Discord, she replied, "Ditzy's dead."
*** (That Night)
2342 Hrs
"Hey Tank . . ." Dash mumbled, petting the turtle that was currently poking her cheek with his nose.
She was currently curled up on her bed, hugging a pillow. Yes, she had cried her eyes out. Yes, she realized how big of a baby that made her sound. But Ditzy was her friend. They were closer than sisters. Rainbow Dash saw her friend just about every chance she got; due to the fact her life was a little boring at times. For, no one was more exciting than a certain klutz in her life.
But, what made it worse was the fact that Dash not only cared for her as a friend, but she had also fallen for her a long time ago – meaning high school. And Ditzy had known this too . . . mainly due to the fact that they may have kissed more than once. But, Ditzy had moved on, leaving Dash lonely and heartbroken. But, they still remained friends.
But now Ditzy was gone . . . and there was nothing she could do. Nothing. Except maybe revenge.
Dash sat up, wiping the rest of the tears from her eyes. Revenge. All this crying would get her nowhere. But, maybe, just maybe, getting back at the one who had hurt her friend would help. Just maybe.
Picking up Tank, she kissed him on the head gently. "Thanks." She half-heartedly smiled at her pet.
*** Later
Being her home, she had about two hundred different knives, guns, and self-defense weapons to choose from. Each. Should she slit the woman's throat silently? Or should she shoot her . . .
Shooting her would probably be easier.
Looking over the many guns she had at hand, she smiled, picking up the nine millimeter and a silencer. Soon, she would have her revenge . . . but she's never killed anyone up close before. New territory. The thought both excited her and made her a little nervous.
Checking the clip to be sure it was loaded, she pushed herself to her feet as she screwed on the silencer. Turns out her . . . victim . . . was being kept in some mental institute just off the coast. It wasn't far from The Daylight Tavern. She could stop in for a moment and drop off a quick present for Luna. Ever since the comic series of Daring Do first came out, she had been hooked. And, buying the comics was rather easy. All she had to do was reserve a copy before it came into stores.
Picking up the box filled with all of her precious Daring Do comics, she holstered the gun – making sure it was well hidden at her side as well. Time to pay a certain someone a visit.
0051 Hrs
As Dash pushed open The Daylight Tavern's door, she could instantly tell it was just about empty. She silently stepped into the room, and the door shut behind her quietly. There were three other people in the room, Luna being one.
The girl sat slumped on one of the many wooden bar stools, her head resting against the counter of the bar as she slept soundly. The other two were either currently ignoring her, or they just hadn't noticed her entrance yet.
Discord had Celestia pinned up against bar, and he was busy whispering something into her ear with a small smirk. She covered her mouth, failing to stifle a giggle that escaped her. Discord gave a small laugh himself as he kissed the woman gently on the neck, feeling his way down her body.
Celestia tilted her head up a little, running her fingers through Discord's short hair. She made some kind of involuntary noise, and Dash had to stifle a laugh as she silently moved forward.
Pulling out a bar stool noisily, she sat down. The bartender squeaked in surprise, jumping as she turned around quickly. He gaze landed upon a smirking Dash. "Having fun there?"
Celestia's face reddened in a blush, and Discord frowned. "Jeesh, Nyan Cat. Couldn't you of come twenty minutes from now?"
"Who says it would've taken that long?" The bartender mumbled, looking down at the bar as her blush reddened even more so. Discord smiled, kissing her on the neck as he mumbled, "And that's why I love you."
Dash rolled her eyes. "You've known her for an hour, Discord. And call me Nyan Cat one more time, and I'll stuff that bottle over there up your – "
"Okay!" Discord cut her off. "I get it, RD! No need to be graphic."
She shrugged. "Just do keep in mind that her little sister is drooling right over there. Waking up and seeing your older sister screwing some guy is something that can't be forgot. Trust me, I know."
Celestia sighed, running her fingers through her hair. "I suppose we did get a little carried away . . ."
"You're telling me." Dash smirked. Discord muttered something under his breath, sighing as well.
A startled gasp drew all of their attention, and Dash turned just in time to see Luna dump herself off of the bar stool, scrambling back, across the floor, quickly. She pressed herself up against the wall, and her sister was at her side in seconds, kneeling next to the panicked girl.
"Hey, it's okay!" Celestia soothed, flinching as the girl threw her arms around her neck roughly, "Calm down, now . . . Calm down . . ."
"Tia!" Luna sobbed, her grip tightening. "It was horrible! You left me all alone! You sent me away like a discarded candy wrapper! And you said all these horrible things! You called me a nightmare from Hell, and not even the moon was a far enough distance between us!"
The woman flinched again, patting the girl on the back as she hushed her. "Luna, you know I'd never call you that . . . let alone leave you . . ."
Luna sniffled, her head still buried in her sister's neck. "Promise me you won't leave like mom, and won't start acting like dad?"
Celestia pulled away from her little sister so she could look into the girl's eyes. "Luna, I would never hurt you like that. I love you. I promise – cross my heart, hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye."
She kissed Luna on the forehead, and the girl mumbled an "I love you too, Tia." before drying her eyes. She watched as her big sister stood, frowning up at her. "I hope you know you smell a bit too strongly of alcohol, sis."
Celestia shrugged. "Do you mind driving tonight, then? I doubt I could get home without crashing. I have enough wits to focus, but I'm still over the legal limit."
Dash laughed, setting the box of comics on the bar before quietly exiting out into the cold of the night.
0113 Hrs
The guard yawned, slumping against the wall. "Night shift, they say." He grumbled. "Make sure no one goes in or out. Who the hell wants to get into a mental hospital?! And all the patients are locked up tight in their rooms. So why the hell amI here?!"
Smirking, Dash silently slipped along the shadows. She had pulled on a pair of leather gloves and a black jacket. She was about five feet from the guard, now, and she watched as he sighed and pushed himself back off the wall. "Then again, the pay's too good to complain. Compared to a teacher's pay, that is."
He laughed at his pitiful joke, shaking his head. Stepping behind him noiselessly, Dash covered his mouth with her hand – pressing the barrel of the gun against the back of his skull. "Life is short." She whispered in his ear, feeling him tense up. "Don't make a move or a sound. Or I may just snatch it away from you. Nod if you understand."
He gave a stiff, slow nod in response. "Good." She smirked. "Now, I'm going to remove my hand from your over your mouth. If you shout, and I'll shoot you where you stand. Move and I'll shoot you. Nod if you understand."
He gave another stiff nod, and she slowly moved her hand away from his mouth. Sweeping his coat back, she quickly disarmed him of his pistol and a knife she found in his boot. All the while, she made sure to keep her own weapon trained on him. "How do I get inside?" She asked. "Keycard? Key? Passcode?"
A moment of silence passed, and then he slowly, carefully spoke – saying each word one at a time. "I have an ID you scan. Then you punch in the Passcode – AW9SB."
"Hand it over." She muttered, watching as he carefully unclipped his ID card and handed it to her. Scanning the ID, she punched in the passcode, muttering under her breath, "Alpha, Whiskey, Niner, Sierra, Bravo."
"The scanner gave a little beep, the red light turning green as she heard a click. Swinging the door open effortlessly, she smirked. "Thanks a lot. Do me a favor and tell mom I said hey, would you?"
He gave a small sound of protest just as she pulled the trigger. There was a soft, yet sharp, sound, and he crumbled to the ground. A few droplets of blood sprayed her and the barrel of the gun, but she only gave a quiet laugh. Pocketing the guard's ID, she walked into the dark hallway of the hospital. The shadows stretched towards her, greeting her with the familiar, yet odd, dark comfort shadows often gave.
She stopped as the hallway turned, listening for any approaching footsteps. Nothing. Cautiously, she peered around the corner. No one.
She nodded to herself, continuing her way down the hall. A few minutes passed, and she finally came up to what looked like an office. Through the window, she could see another guard – fast asleep in his chair, his legs propped up on a TV. Too easy.
Scanning the ID and punching in the passcode, she silently opened the door. He mumbled something in his sleep, shifting slightly. Noiselessly walking up behind him, she quickly shot him too. He gave a small twitch, but, other than that, he didn't move. "Shouldn't have fallen asleep on the job." She muttered.
A computer sat next to the TV, and she maneuvered her way to it.
Hacking into the security cameras and turning them off was easy, and wiping the computer of any film already taken was easier. Taking a quick glance around the room, she spotted a clipboard hanging by the door. Walking over and picking it up, she quickly scanned the list of names and the pictures clipped beside them. 'Rose, Room 329 . . . Angel, Room 321 . . . Fluttershy, Room 313."
Room 313.
Grinning, Dash tossed the Clipboard to the side – walking out of the room.
*** A few minutes later
Frowning, Dash pushed open the already door that was already slightly ajar. The room was dark, but she could still tell it was empty. Cursing silently, she glanced around her.
Where could she be? And what kind of idiot leaves a mentally unstable patient's door unlocked?!
Several gunshots echoing through the dark hall answered her question. Some poor chap just met the wrong end of the gun. Wonder who pulled the trigger.
Making her way down the hallway quickly, yet silently, she soon found herself just a few feet from an open door. Light – and blood – poured into the hall, causing her to blink at the sudden brightness. Inside, a woman with pink hair kissed a younger girl with white hair on the forehead as she hugged her.
"I love you mommy . . ." The younger girl murmured happily, seemingly unnoticing of the blood splattered everywhere and the body only inches away. Blood splattered bother patients, ruining their crisp, white clothes.
Cocking the gun with a small click, she sneered at the woman when she looked up curiously. "You crossed the line, Bitch."
Pulling the trigger, the woman immediately crumbled to the ground. Blood splattered even more so on the other girl, and Dash's gaze flickered over to her. The girl's eyes widened in shock, and she took a step back from Dash.
Frowning, she lowered the gun. "Sorry about that, but she killed somebody I loved."
With that, she turned and she left the same way she came.
Enjoy? Sorry it took forever to post. I have my writing moments, drawing moments, and my 'Eh' Moments. Up Next: AppleJack! I think. I could be wrong. Anyway, I'm going to have two to three off-to-the-side stories. I'll keep you posted if I post them. =)
Love,
