Appendix III – The Doctor at Arcadia
Before his quick return to Gallifrey, the Doctor had a secret mission to attend to. This all happened before entering the coordinates to Romana's personal quarters on Gallifrey when the Doctor suddenly received a distress call from another planet. The message was a request for additional assistance on a faraway colony world called Arcadia. After giving orders to the surviving members of Squadron Delta and Gamma who fought with the Doctor in defeating the Could've Been King on Planet Harea, the Doctor punched in the coordinates and head towards Arcadia.
Arriving at the Gates of Arcadia, the Doctor transported his TARDIS on top of a discreet and abandoned hill looking over the capital city of Arcadia. Arcadia was a military colony planet where a bulk of the toughest military commandos and Special Forces were trained here in addition to being a regular military town for the soldiers and their families to reside. The Doctor always wondered what was like for Oslin to be trained over here since she mentioned about being in Special Forces before. Now, Arcadia was now being overrun by the Daleks. The message he received earlier was from special operations force agent within the city. Without hesitation, the Doctor went back inside his TARDIS and went to the source of message. Upon arrival, the Doctor scanned his surroundings and found himself inside an empty room, damaged by war. Everything looked safe, so the Doctor went outside to have a closer look of his surroundings.
The Doctor brought out his sonic staff now transformed back as a regular sonic screwdriver and scanned for the source of the message. The Doctor ran over to a nearby desk and found the telecommunications equipment. He looked for the operator and found him. The operator was a Specialist rank soldier, but already dead with two to three Dalek laser rounds to his chest. The Doctor heard a nearby explosion outside and had a first hand close observation of a Dalek invasion of Arcadia City.
Outside in the buildings of Arcadia City, explosions shook as many Gallifrey forces fought back with everything they got. Due to the attack of the Could've Been King's Army on Arcadia earlier, much of the heavy weaponry was wiped out by the Armies of Neverweres and Meanwhiles, leaving the remaining surviving soldiers with nothing, but regular small arms and Anti-Air laser cannons. A Dalek H-shaped patrol ship flew over and began raining hell on the Gallifreyan ground forces below. Soldiers went into the air from the explosions beneath them as civilians ran to any nearby shelter. Children screamed at the sight of the incoming Dalek forces.
Somewhere nearby, a soldier ran across the rubble, carrying a plasma rocket launcher as more Daleks chased after him, shooting at him. The soldier ran behind a fallen pillar and aimed his launcher at the Daleks. The soldier fired his plasma rocket and it hurled the attacking Daleks and exploded. Dirt and metallic debris went into the air and some flew pass over the soldier's head. The soldier ducked down and after the remnants of the explosion settled down, the soldier got up and continued to run to another post. This time more Dalek patrol ships flew right by him, shooting at him. The soldier continued to run and run and saw a massive explosion being lit up from the main glass dome building in the middle of Arcadia City.
"General, this is Code Omega. I repeat this is Code Omega. Arcadia has fallen," said the soldier over his radio. Before Dalek came up behind the soldier, the Doctor threw his sonic staff at the Dalek. The staff penetrated into the top head section of the armor. The tip of staff went through the metallic wall and punctured into the flesh of the Dalek organism inside its cockpit. The Dalek screamed in agony causing the soldier in front of him to turn around. The Doctor pulled out his staff, pushed the Dalek down to the ground, and fired a few laser pistol shots into the gaping hole.
"Doctor, is that you?" asked the soldier, sensing the presence of a now old-looking Doctor with a beard and mustache.
"Yes, I am. I came here after receiving a distress signal from one of your dead soldiers," replied the Doctor. "It seems Arcadia has been overrun. We have no choice but to evacuate the city and maybe the entire planet."
"How are we going to do that Doctor? Our Battle TARDISES have been disabled due to our fight with the temporal ghost armies that were raging across Gallifrey and other worlds. We are now sitting animals for the Dalek attack," said the soldier.
"That I am aware of, but we can't hold here any longer. All civilians and their families must leave at once and the soldiers too. We need to leave the planet in order to re-group and possibly stage an effective counter attack on this world. Also, in case you haven't realized, your General and direct lead commanders are already dead."
"Have you communicated to anyone back on Gallifrey or other worlds then to see if they're okay and possibly send over reinforcements?" the soldier asked.
"That I am not certain. I recently got coded message to return to Gallifrey before coming here. However, I was able to pull several member of two squadrons that were with me, Squadron Delta and Gamma," the Doctor looked over his screwdriver and pushed a setting for a time counter, "They should be coming just around now."
A group of Battle TARDISES appeared just behind the Doctor and the soldiers came out. The Doctor gave the order to help with the evacuation right away. "I want some of you to escort the civilians and the wounded first while the others will be assigned to rescue any soldiers you can find and provide additional fire support," the Doctor said.
"Yes, sir!" the soldiers shouted.
"You're in good hands, soldier. For now on, you will be under orders of Lt. Tyrol," the Doctor said as he introduced the solder to Lt. Tyrol.
"I've heard of you, sir. People mentioned that you are an amazing sniper. I am Private Miles Andros," said Private Andros as he saluted and presented his right hand for a handshake.
Lt. Tyrol saluted back and returned the hand shake, "A lot people has made a lot of comments about me, but I am just doing my job. Okay, Private Andros, you're coming with me. I wish best of luck to you Doctor. I know you need to get back to Gallifrey."
"I do, Lt. Tyrol. But, before I go, I must do something," responded the Doctor.
The Doctor ran back to his TARDIS nearby and flew it into the Time Vortex only to re-appear at another part of the city. At this side of the city, a family was being surrounded by Daleks. A group of soldiers heard their cries and tried to run as fast as possible. Then, a humming sound was heard, driving the Daleks into a state of fear.
"Potential enemy detected! It's the Doctor! Must find the Doctor!" the Daleks shouted and before they could anything else. A re-materialization sound was heard and before the Daleks knew what hit them, the Doctor's TARDIS broke through a nearby wall and smashed into heads of the Daleks. The soldiers finally arrived and fired a series of laser rounds into the bodies the Daleks, finishing them off.
The TARDIS landed and the Doctor came out, requesting a nearby soldier to give him his rifle. The Doctor aimed and fired a series of laser bolts on the wall, creating a message for a surviving, injured Dalek to see. It was "No More." The Dalek questioned out loud what that means and before he got his answer, the Doctor returned the rifle back to soldier and ordered him to finish off that injured Dalek. The soldier finally came up to the injured Dalek where it shrieked, requesting mercy. However instead of mercy, the Dalek received his final message: several laser rounds in the head. After the Dalek lashed his final words of death, the Doctor ran back into his TARDIS and finally disappeared into Time Vortex for his return trip to Gallifrey.
While the Doctor was traversing in the vortex, the members of Squadron Gamma and Delta were able to rescue as many soldiers and civilians as possible and fled to another secured Gallifreyan military controlled world. The Doctor entered the coordinates for Romana's personal quarters on Gallifrey and flipped the lever for landing. The TARDIS finally landed at the coordinates on Gallifrey as the Doctor walked outside to find Romana.
Author's Note: this is considered to be the last appendix to this fanfic. If there's anymore, I'll post them at a later time. But, nonetheless thank you for reading! Have a nice day!
