CHAPTER 4: THE 4TH DEMON AWAKENS

The Rikkai tennis team strolled down the streets in their school uniform. They walked into the hospital and continued walking until they reached a certain room. Kirihara was about to slide open the door when Yukari pushed him out of her way, making him slam into the wall. Yukari took no notice and happily opened the door. Yukimura looked up from his book and smiled when he saw his teammates. Yukari ran into his open arms. "Seiichi! How are you feeling?"

"I'm fine… but I don't think that I'll be back in time for the Kantou Regional Tournament." Yukari stared at him, horrified.

"What?! But Seiichi-"

"I'll definitely be back for Nationals, but until then… Yukari, you'll take the place as our eighth regular." Yukari bit her lip and avoided his gaze. Yukimura grabbed her chin. "Yukari, look at me… I'm counting on you… We're counting on you, alright?" She shut her eyes tightly for a few seconds before opening them again. This time, her eyes were bright with newfound determination. She nodded.

"I won't let you down. Rikkai has no weakness!" The team cheered at her confident reply. Yukimura smiled proudly at Sanada as his lips twitched upwards.

'Yukari is strong,' the two mentally agreed.

"I leave the team in your hands, Genichirou." Sanada nodded in understanding. "Yukari, I know you've never been an official regular before, but I know you can handle it." The team left the hospital and made their way home.

"We have one more match in the Kanagawa Prefectural Tournament before the Kantou Regional Tournament begins," Marui reminded.

"We'll easily win the Prefecturals. It's the Kantou Tournament that we have to start worrying. That's the one where we'll meet schools like Hyotei and Seigaku," Yukari said.

"No matter who our opponent is, Rikkai will win," Sanada said, confidently. Yukari smiled and jumped on Kirihara's back.

"OI! What the hell are you doing, woman?!" he shouted, angrily.

She just laughed and hollered, "We are the CHAMPIONS!"

THE KANAGAWA PREFECTURAL TOURNAMENT

The crowds parted as the mighty Rikkai walked by, exuding confidence and holding an aura that seemed to demand for everyone to bow down to their glory. Whispers broke out as they passed.

"Look, that's the champion, Rikkai!"

"Yeah, they've won Nationals two years in a row!"

"Who's that girl with them?"

"My friend's girlfriend's sister's cousin's boyfriend heard a rumor that a mystery player joined the team last year near Nationals. I've never seen the mystery player personally though."

"Seriously? I thought that was just a myth."

"I thought that too, but the only people who've seen the player's face up close are their opponents in Nationals and maybe the end of Regionals like Hyotei and Shitenhouji." The regulars clearly heard the chatter around them, but paid no mind. Yukari just smiled sweetly at all the guys, making them practically melt. The Rikkai regulars stared at her.

'Looks can be deceiving,' they thought.

"Who are we playing first?" Marui asked.

"It looks like we are playing Asamiya Middle School," Yanagi answered.

"Do you have data on them?" He nodded.

"They shouldn't be a problem."

"The match between Rikkai Dai Fuzoku and Asamiya Middle School will now commence!" The two teams stood across from each other at the net. A boy with black, spikey hair and muddy, brown eyes smirked.

"Ha, looks like the all-powerful Rikkai has been reduced to bringing a weak girl on the team," he taunted. The Rikkai regulars didn't show any sign of offense, knowing that they would be eating their words later. The boy glared at their lack of reaction. Then he smiled when he remembered the new rumor that he'd heard. "I heard that your captain is in the hospital." His smile widened when he saw Yukari stiffen. "The supposed 'Child of God' is hospitalized with a disease? How pathetic." Yukari's crimson eyes narrowed into a glare.

"You bastard! How dare yo-" Sanada placed an arm in front of her, signaling for her to stop.

"What? Isn't it true? Your captain's weak. Your team's weak. Rikkai is the weak." That was the finally straw. The air grew thick with tension. Now, not just Yukari, but the whole Rikkai population, including the regulars and the students and members in the stands, were angry. They had just insulted Rikkai. No one insults Rikkai. It was an unspoken law. Rikkai was a very prideful school who held confidence in sports, academics, and the arts. They had to be the top at everything. In Rikkai, losing is not allowed. Yet, these… fools, yes, that's the correct name for them, decided that they could just waltz in and wound their ever-so-glorious pride. Every Rikkai student thought the same thing.

'Not a chance.'

Rikkai showed no mercy. They had won in straight sets with their two doubles teams and singles 3.

DOUBLES 2:

"100% chance of a lob."

"What?! No!"

"The trick's on you."

"Impossible!"

The two Asamiya players panted heavily as they hunched over. "T-that guy keeps predicting our every move."

"The silver-haired one won't stop messing with our heads!" The mentioned players smirked.

"Data doesn't lie."

"Puri."

DOUBLES 1

"Miss."

"T-the ball rolled on the net."

"You're too slow."

"Auuugh!"

"God! It's impossible to predict which one he'll do next!"

"Hey, I-I don't think I can continue this."

"Dou? Tensai-teki? (So? Am I a genius or what?)

"I'll crush you."

SINGLES 3

"I won't forgive anyone that dares to insult Seiichi."

"N-no! Stop!"

The boy was on his hands and knees, panting, his eyes wide with terror. "You're a monster… All of you are monsters… What the hell was that… Oh my god…" Yukari stood proudly on the other side of the court, face rid of any expression.

"This is what happens to people who dare to insult Rikkai and question our strength." She looked up and let her eyes roam over the stands. "Remember that!" She apathetically turned and made her way to her fellow teammates, who bore similar stoic masks. The eight Rikkai regulars then walked away, not bothering to wait for a handshake.

"Oi, Yukari. Don't you think that you showed that a little too early?" Niou asked. She shook her head.

"I won't show mercy on anyone that has the audacity to belittle Seiichi." Yukari started to pick up her pace until she was in the front of the regulars. Niou smirked.

"That's our Yukari." Yagyuu pushed up his glasses.

"She does certainly live up to her nickname." Kirihara looked confused.

"What? Angel? I mean she acts like that 99% of the time, but I don't think that match can be counted in that 99%."

"I guess you've never seen it," Yanagi concluded. Kirihara still didn't seem to understand. Marui rested a hand on his head.

"What we're talking about isn't when Yukari's an angel. What we are talking about is when she acts like-"

"A Bloody Angel," Sanada finished.

"What?" Kirihara said.

"Yukari… is similar to Yukimura in some ways," Jackal began. "The two excel in using psychological attacks on their opponents. They also know how to use things to their advantage. How do you think they're able to return monstrous shots like Sanada's Rai in FuuRinKaZanRai?"

"What does that have to do with what happened in the courts?"

"Psychological attacks have the ability to interfere or even destroy the opponent's mentality. Yukimura-kun has done that with his Yips. Yukari-san, like Yukimura-kun, possesses the ability to hack her opponent's mental system. Usually, she would use subtle attacks, but today, her opponent did not win her favor," Yagyuu explained.

"Although it may not appear like it, but Yukari may be the most prideful one out of all of us. They had not only insulted Seiichi, her 'brother', captain, and savior, but also all of Rikkai, her second home and origin of pride. To her, that was unforgivable," Yanagi continued. Sanada closed his eyes.

"Yukari will not tolerate anyone saying derogatory things towards the things that she loves," he said, simply.

"So who's stronger with psychological attacks?" Kirihara asked.

"Obviously Seiichi," Yukari answered. The team turned to her. "What? Did you think that I couldn't hear you? I'm not deaf." Niou smirked and draped an arm over her shoulder.

"Weren't you the one who introduced him to tennis?"

"Yes, but he was obviously more talented than me." She clenched her fists. "I will not allow anyone to question that talent."

"Looks like our 4th demon has finally shown her true colors."

Yukari sat on her windowsill, looking up at the stars when her phone rang. She immediately read the message.

FROM: SEI-CHAN

TO: YUKARI

Message: Good night, Yukari. I'm so proud of you for becoming a regular.

P.S. The stars are beautiful tonight, aren't they?

YUKIMURA P.O.V.

FROM: YUKARI

TO: SEIICHI

Message: Good night, Sei-chan. We'll definitely lead Rikkai to their 3rd straight win.

P.S. My thoughts exactly.

REGULAR P.O.V.

As she was about to get ready for bed, another ring from her phone stopped her.

FROM: SEAWEED HEAD

TO: YUKARI

Message: Night, Shorty. Or should I say Bloody Angel? What an unoriginal name.

P.S. I Hate U.

She rolled her eyes before typing a reply.

MYSTERY P.O.V.

FROM: DEMON LADY

TO: AKAYA

Message: I'M NOT SHORT! And that's the last thing I want to hear from you, 'Devil'. Good night.

P.S. I Hate U More.

I smirked then decided to change something.

FROM: BLOODY ANGEL

TO: AKAYA

Message: I'M NOT SHORT! And that's the last thing I want to hear from you, 'Devil'. Good night.

I nodded. This suited her much better.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: So, did you like it? If you did, FOLLOW, FAVORITE, and REVIEW! I know it wasn't as interesting because there wasn't a lot of interacting between characters, but this chapter was just to show how prideful Rikkai is and what Yukari does to those that anger her. I hoped you liked it! Bye!
