Surprised to see my POV here? So am I. I mean, I expected to sit in my cabin and bite my nails giving Annabeth her space, but no. I have to tell you guys my thoughts. So, here they are: Food, Annabeth, sleep, Annabeth, baby, Annabeth, college, Annabeth.
As you can see, anything I try to think about comes back to Annabeth. Ugh, why did I give her the fuckin' space? Now, I'm dying from anxiety. I told you so. I know, but stop reminding it to me every five freaking minutes! Then stop thinking about it every five freaking minutes! Besides, it's not my fault you knocked her up and now none of you has a clue about what to do. Gods, I'm so lucky to have you. I mean, who wouldn't want to have you as their subconscious? I know, I'm kinda awesome. I was being sarcastic. Damn, 7 out of 14 this week. No comment...
Anyway, I wanted to go find her and be there for her, but if I couldn't last one hour away from her, how the heck was I supposed to take care of her? And the baby? What's more, what if she didn't mean an hour? She said some time on her own. Maybe she meant days. Somebody is going to suicide. Shut up..
I went to the sword fighting arena and took out Riptide. I started practicing with an old dummy made of straw and by practicing, I mean cutting all of its limbs, then its head, and then cutting it in half.
"Oh, someone's had a crappy day." a male voice I knew too well smirked behind me.
"Here comes the groom." I joked and Luke laughed loudly, his voice echoing in the arena. He gave me a high five and took out his sword.
"Let's see how you're doing against a real dummy." he said and I, considering it a good idea to loosen up a little, span the sword around my wrist and took my battle position. He attacked first and I managed to avoid him –hehe, I know I'm so awesome in these things- and attacked back. "So, what's on your mind?" he asked me and I avoided his disarming move.
"A lot."
"Does it have to do with Annabeth?" he asked and I almost let him hit me. I responded back with a double hit to his left.
"Anything I think has to do with Annabeth." I said and defended myself from his response. "I mean, we were having a great time. Just the two of us." I attacked again. "But bam! Something had to ruin this." I didn't give him time to respond with an attack by trying a disarming move and aiming his wrist. "I mean, if you think about it, it can be definitely good and give us more time together, but from as far as I've seen, it can only tear us apart." I attacked harder this time and ripped his already ripped T-shirt. "And I don't want to lose her just when I got her back." I finished and disarmed him for good.
He widened his eyes and looked at me in awe. "You shouldn't fight when you think about Annabeth." he said and I grimaced. "Okay, can you tell me what that tremendous thing is? Cause gods, I'm curious."
I looked around to see if anyone was watching us and stepped closer. "Dude, you have to swear you won't tell anyone about it."
His expression got serious. "Not even Thalia?"
"Well, I imagine that Annabeth will have already told her about this, but if she doesn't mention anything to you, don't." I said.
"Okay then, I swear I won't tell anything to anyone before you will." he swore. I breathed out and decided to wait and see his face when I told him. Oh, this will be fun. There's something we agree.
"Well, nothing is confirmed yet, but we, Annabeth and I, think that there's a chance she's pregnant." I blurted out in a low voice.
Luke widened his eyes and his jaw dropped on the floor. "PR-Pregnant? As in, um, she's having your kid?" he muttered.
"Do you know any other term for 'pregnant'?" I asked and he sat down in the sand.
"So, you will be like, parents?" He was clearly struggling to digest this.
"Y-Yeah, kind of. I mean, if she's pregnant and decides to keep it." I explained better. And then, I burst into laughs.
He frowned and sighed relieved. "Fuck you Jackson. I thought you were actually telling me the truth." he said and I laughed harder.
"I am!" I exclaimed and he widened his eyes once again. "Gods, I know this isn't funny, but I just can't stop laughing!" I laughed harder and fell to the ground next to him.
"Perce-" he started but my crisis was beyond any control.
"And you know what's funny? That Annabeth will be crying somewhere alone, because she thinks I'm not able to handle this! And what's more, she might actually be right!" I continued laughing. So embarrassed right now.. "Oh, and let's not forget our stupid colleges! Either she is gonna be miles away from me and frankly, I don't even know if we trust each other that much," and my hysterical laugh loosened up a little. "or either she'll keep the baby and I'll just, completely fail into being a dad." I said and my laughs turned into small chuckles. "And that I-I'm not gonna be able to take care of the baby or Annabeth is completely scaring the hell out of me." That's when my laughs stopped entirely and I started breathing heavily.
Luke placed his hand on my shoulder. "Dude, I'm getting married of your cousin." he said laughing. "As you can see, we're both screwed." I turned to him and chuckled.
"Wow, your support is even better than my subconscious' support is." I joked. What are you implying? That I'm not supportive? I'm deeply hurt by you Perseus Jackson.
"What I'm trying to say is that even if Annabeth is pregnant, you have to be there for her. You can't panic now that she needs you the most."
"But she said she needs some time alone."
"Women are controversial things. They tell you to do something while they really want you to do the opposite. Take Thalia for example. Do you think she's the type of girl that planned to get married?" he asked and I frowned.
"Planned? No. I always imagined she'd get married a drunken weekend in Vegas." It's the honest truth!
"I know. But man, you should have seen her expression when I proposed. Like she wanted this for so long. And I'm guessing she did, but she didn't say a word to let me propose when I thought the time was the right one."
"Or to torture you." I added.
"That's more likely." he agreed. "But I'm guessing Annabeth tortures you kinda differently." he guessed.
"Ooh, yeah." I said and placed my hand at my back, where Annabeth had scratched me one of those days. Told you we were having fun. "So, you're saying to go find her even if she asked me to be alone?"
"Pretty much."
I sighed and got up. "If this turns out bad, it's your fault Castellan."
"If it turns out bad, tell her I forced you to go. Besides, if you stay here another minute, you might go nuts." he said and we both laughed. "Plus, I won't let her kill my best-man."
I grinned and sighed one last time and turned my sword back to a pen. "Wish me luck."
Luke grinned and was about to tell me something, but Thalia interrupted. "You stupid, idiotic piece of Kelp Head!" she yelled and I realized she was talking about me. Oh, shit! You're all alone in this dude. What?! No! You can't do that! Don't leave like that! Sorry buddy. Subconscious is out. NOO! PLEASE DON'T LEAVE ME!
I saw her walking towards me with a pissed off look and needless to say I almost peed my pants. "You knocked her up?! They're called condoms, Percy!" she yelled again and I wanted the Earth to swallow me right there and then. Wait, no. Scratch that. I wanted to fly up in the air and get electrocuted by Zeus.
"Could you stop yelling? No need for the whole camp to know." I said in a low voice but she shot me that murderous glare that demanded me to shut up.
"Gods, now she'll be all hormonal and I don't even know how bad she might end up!" she screamed in despair. "And by the way I'll yell as much as I want to. If you were just a little bit of careful, we would not be in this situation!"
"Annabeth is the pregnant one and I'm the father. I don't see how you're suffering." I murmured.
"Because I'm tired, Percy! I'm tired emotionally! I mean, whenever the two of you are having a great time, someone or something happens and everything goes wrong!"
"Still, I can't see it." I said and Luke could barely hold his laughter.
"Babe, calm down." he told her and dared to go near her.
"I don't want to calm down!" she shouted angry.
"Yeah, okay. Shh, now." he said and massaged her shoulders. She obviously relaxed a little, but hell, I wouldn't get near her.
"I mean, the drama in this story has gotten way too much." she said and after a couple of seconds, her eyes sparkled. "Wait, that's it!" she exclaimed. "We need to reduce the drama!" she yelled happy. Needless to say, I understood nothing of what she said. Wouldn't be the first time. You filthy coward need to shut up.
"What do you mean?" I asked before she grabbed my hand and started dragging me to the cabins' section.
"You'll see." she said and turned at Luke. "Babe, go bring Rachel to my cabin and tell her to bring Piper, Hazel and Drew with her. I have a plan." she told him and put on an evil smirk.
Annabeth
Imagine you were in your room, all alone, crying and sobbing, generally a mess, and your Olympian parent decides to hear your silent prayer and pay you a visit right then. That's exactly how I felt when I saw Athena standing right above my head.
"Mom?" I asked weakly. She didn't say a word. She did something weirder though; she sighed and sat next to me –which was down in the marble floor. I was like 'Who are you and what you did to my mother?' or I guess I looked at her with a look similar to that. I swallowed shocked and she placed her hand in my messy hair. She cleared my face from the stray curls that hid my face and wiped a couple of tears away.
Then, the alien that pretended to be my mother smiled. A wide, warm smile. Something I had never seen from her before. "Wha-What are you doing here?" I managed to ask, scared that the alien would kill me any moment now.
"I thought you needed someone to talk to." she answered calmly.
"I do. But I can't talk to you about.. the thing I want to talk about." I said and she rolled her eyes. Holy Zeus and all the Olympians, she was confused. "I know, I'm not making any sense, but if you knew-" I started but she cut me off with a calm 'shh'.
"I already know, Annabeth." she said and I widened my eyes.
"You do?" I asked and she nodded. "And you're not angry or disappointed or something?"
"Why should I be angry about it? It wouldn't change the fact that you're pregnant." she said and I let a laugh out confused.
"Okay mom, now you're not making any sense. You should at least be furious that one of your daughters slept with a son of Poseidon, or at least disappointed by my reckless behavior when I did it." I said and oh my gods, I lived to see the mighty Athena chuckle.
"Yes, I should be, indeed. But as I said it won't change any of the above or the way you feel. And I might be breaking over fifty ancient rules just by doing this, but even a godly mother has her limits to see her own children suffer for over two millenniums, no matter if this pain is physical or emotional."
"I can't understand. Why did you decide to interfere now? And why with me?" I asked. Well, call me stupid if I just want to know why my godly mother is trying to help me.
"Because you're special, Annabeth. You found the Athena Parthenos, you followed the Mark and hell, you fell into Tartarus and you're still alive. I don't think I'll ever find someone better or worthy to help." she answered. Phew, at least that sounded like her. And then, a few moments of quiet followed.
I wiped a few tears of my cheeks. "Can I- Can I, maybe, hug you?" I asked. She smiled again and nodded. I grinned and hugged her tightly for the first time in my life. At first, she didn't return the hug and I thought it was okay, maybe I was asking for too much. But in the end, I felt her arms closing around me and pulling me into an embrace –a motherly embrace. I had never felt that feeling before. I mean sure, Sally had hugged me several times and she was like a mother to me, but feeling Athena hugging me like that, almost like a normal mother, was completely different. Those feelings of safety, of warmness and yeah, even love. Who would have told me that I'd feel this side of Athena? Deep down, I knew it was something that'd only happen once, but I didn't mind. For the first time in my life, I realized the full meaning of the word 'mother'.
"Annabeth, I know you're not sure of what to do right now, but I just want you to know that if you keep this baby, you're going to be a great mother. And no matter what, don't let that son of Poseidon drop off college. I want my daughter to at least date a scientist or a doctor." she said and I laughed. I pulled back and smiled.
"Mom, I don't know what to do."
"What is your logic telling you?"
"To do an abortion, leave Percy hurt and broken, and return to Yale so I can have a shot in my professional future." My logic was colder than Khione. What a lovely lady. I knew you'd like her.
Athena stroked my cheek. "And what is your heart telling you?"
I remained silent and closed my eyes, trying to listen to my heart –at least that's how they do it in the movies. Aphrodite knows how much I wanted to keep this baby. How much I wanted to be with Percy. How much I even considered dropping off Yale to achieve that. How much I wanted to stay.
"Stay." I answered and she smiled. Wait-shouldn't she be mad I obviously had chosen my heart over my logic? Maybe she's an alien from Venus. I have to agree. Take to your planet, take me to your planet, take me to your Venus, to your Venus, to your VENUS. No comment because Gaga has absolutely nothing to do with my life. Well, everyone knows you prefer the aliens from Neptune. You're the most disgusting and dirty-minded subconscious I could ever have. I love you too.
"Annabeth, I won't be mad because you chose to stay. I think that this is what makes you special. The way you combine your logic with your feelings."
I frowned and widened my eyes. "Tell me you can't read my mind." Yes, tell her you can't read her mind! Oh, someone is nervous, isn't she?
Athena laughed. "You're my daughter. Of course I know what you're thinking of." she said and got up.
I followed her lead. "Will you be in trouble?" I asked, obviously worrying.
She just shrugged. She shrugged. My mother, the mighty Athena, the strong and intimidating goddess of wisdom, shrugged. The hormones must be driving me crazy. "This was something that needed to be done. If Zeus finds out, I'll have to accept the consequences of my actions. But even so, I knew what risks I had to take." she said calmly and I bit my lower lip as I ran to her and hugged her tightly one last time.
"Thanks mom." I whispered and pulled back. She was shocked as hell, but managed a smile before she teleports back to Olympus – I hope.
Seconds later, Percy stormed in the room. He smirked as he walked to me. I smirked back and got closer. He hugged me and I buried my head into his neck. He sighed relieved loudly and I pulled slightly back just to look at him.
"You know, just for your future plans, when a woman tells you she needs time, she means more than a couple of hours." I teased him and he chuckled.
"Well, mind me if I was sick worrying about you and almost had a nervous breakdown." he answered and I grinned against his lips. "How are you feeling?" he asked.
"I'm good." I replied, burying my head again, this time into his warm chest. "I thought this over and over again and made a few decisions." I announced and I felt his heartbeat quicken.
"Mind telling them to me?" he mocked and I chuckled.
"Not at all, SB." I mocked back.
"SB? Wait- are those the initials of my nickname?" he asked amused while pulling back from our embrace.
"I owed you one." I teased and he smirked. "May I start announcing to you my intentions now?" I questioned trying my British accent. Hell, I still kicked at it. A British daughter of Athena with cruel intentions. I never said cruel. Also, I'm from San Francisco, not England. Yeah, but it sounds better. Gives the phrase a dramatic tone. When did you get interested in acting? Or drama in general?
"Yes, you may my love." he continued our joke and grinned.
I wrapped my hands around his neck and gazed at those gorgeous eyes I had fallen for a long time ago. "I'm staying and so is the baby." I told him and his eyes sparkled.
"Are you serious? You're not messing with me?" he asked excited. I nodded and he leaned in to kiss me, but I stopped him.
"On one condition." I added. He scrunched his eyebrows together confused. "I will attend Yale from a distance and you will continue your studies at NYU."
He pulled away confused. "But Annabeth, how-" he was about to confess but I cut him off.
"Hey, no buts. We can and we will do this, okay?" I said.
He looked at me like a wounded raccoon. "Okay, but Annabeth how? How are we going to survive?"
I laced my fingers with his and smirked. "We will as long as we're together. And no buts."
He smiled, but you could still distinguish the worry in his eyes. "Okay." He pulled me into another hug and kissed my forehead. "I just want to be able to take care of you." he trusted me whispering to my ear.
"As much as I'd love that, you need to attend college so you can do that easily in the future." I whispered back. "Besides, I can work for at least two to three months from home. I'm not entirely useless." I said and he laughed out loud.
"Hahaha, that was a nice joke." he said and I rolled my eyes.
"I wasn't joking. And did you just imply I am useless?" I asked deeply offended.
His face then got a smirk and the mischievous look that meant nothing but trouble. "Nope, I didn't imply you're useless. But if you weren't joking then you should be. Because letting my pregnant wife work during her pregnancy is out of the table." he said and I widened my eyes.
"Y-Your pr-pregnant what?" I muttered and he smirked wider before he kneels in one knee. "Percy, this isn't funny." I warned him. Oh, so cute! Can't you just shut up right now? Like just for this moment? Ah, fine. Thanks.
He took my hand and placed a small black box in it. "My pregnant wife, I hope." he said and I opened the box. I found an awfully familiar silver ring with a small diamond on it.
And bam! I, Annabeth Chase, was speechless. I glanced once at the ring and once at Percy. I didn't even notice my cabin door opening, or the people that entered. I didn't care. Percy was fucking proposing to me. And I was just standing there.
Speechless.
Percy got up and looked me straight in the eye. He cupped my neck and kissed me. "Before I say the usual phrase, I want you to know that I'm not doing this because you're pregnant. I'm doing this because I love you." he started and his hand fell to my waist. His smirk turned into a wide happy smile. "I love you Annabeth. And I know we had our ups and downs, but I can't help but loving you even more now, now that we're together again. And hell, I even think I should have done this differently. That this isn't the right time or place. But I also think that it is the perfect time, the perfect place, the perfect way. Because being only your lover, the father of our kid and your best friend without being committed is- is childlike. And I don't want to have something childlike with you. I want to be committed to you. I want to have a family with you and everything I had talked to you about in New Rome. I want a life with you Annabeth." he continued and I couldn't believe he could talk like that. I knew he could be romantic and cheesy and a great speaker, but right now, he was all of those things in the perfect amount. Right now, he looked more handsome than ever. He took the ring of its box and held it in his hands. "So, will you marry me, Wise Girl?"
I stopped breathing. I stopped getting distracted by any sound in the room and focused one hundred percent on Percy. My Seaweed Brain. He wanted to marry me. Not because I was pregnant, not because we were sleeping together, but because of me. Because of who I was. He wanted a life with me. And I gods know how badly I wanted a life with him. How badly I wanted to, yes, marry him.
I took a step forward and kissed him with everything I had left. I started breathing again, but my attention was fully drawn to him. My pride wouldn't let me say that he was my air, but in that way he knew he was. He knew he was everything to me. And I knew I was everything to him.
I didn't realize how much time passed since we first started the kiss. It felt like days. When I pulled back, my eyes had watered and I whispered to him my answer. "Yes, Seaweed Brain. Yes, I'll marry you."
He grinned widely and hugged me tightly. He started spinning me around and I couldn't help but laugh happy. Plus, that's when I noticed Thalia and all of my friends in the room. When did they get here? I had no clue.
They had those huge grins on their faces while clapping and yelling happily, and I realized they were here since the beginning. My look though, met Thalia's who winked at me.
Percy stopped spinning me around and kissed me again. "I told them to come." he whispered once he broke off our kiss.
"You had planned this?" I asked stunned.
"Not by myself." he admitted and I chuckled. Of course she would.
"Thalia organized this, didn't she?" I asked.
"Kind of, yes." Thalia said, joining the conversation. "You can't imagine what I had to do to bring Calypso and Leo here in less than no time." And that's when she started telling me the story.
"Are you kidding me?" was Percy's first reaction. "I can't propose to her like that! I mean, I want to propose, but not with another's engagement ring!"
"Well, consider it a loan, Jackson." Clarisse said. She had managed to come all the way from Phoenix in five minutes with a hellhound, so she wasn't in an exactly good mood.
"What she said." Thalia agreed smiling. She was looking through Luke's clothes to find something.
"But I don't want to do it like that. I want it to be special." Percy continued whining.
"Hey Thals, we're here." Piper exclaimed and she entered her cabin along with another six people. "I called Leo and Cal to join us." she said pointing at their friends.
"Hey there." Drew said rolling her eyes on Leo, but Calypso dragged him away before he could response. Maybe she had a thing for taken guys.
"Little bro, boost Percy's confidence. Luke, Leo and Frank, same. Did someone tell Nico?" Thalia yelled so she could be heard above the chaos.
"I did." Hazel answered.
"Good. Now make Piper charmspeak Percy so he'll propose to Annabeth." Thalia said.
"Really? Charmspeak?" I asked, trying hard not to laugh.
"Well, he's stubborn but we both know that I'm more stubborn than he is." Thalia said and continued.
Thalia found an old T-shirt of Luke and gave it Percy, Drew fixed his hair, Piper gave him a support talk, the guys told him to be himself, and all of these ended up to Percy's response, which was like: "But guys, I want it to be special."
So Rachel had to step in. She pushed the guys off the way and gave Percy two strong slaps. "Get it together, Percy! You want it to be special? Then make it special with your words. Mean every word you'll say to her. And then, give her a trip to Bahamas for your honeymoon."
"Oh my gods, a trip to Bahamas?" I asked and looked at Percy, who was blushing during the whole narrating.
"Oh, don't be too happy. I can't afford it." he said and I grimaced.
"You know I can give your free vacation, right?" Piper offered. "I can charmspeak the guy to give you guys free cruises just by rolling my eyes."
"Yeah, yeah, we'll just take them something for the house." Jason said and dragged her away. I don't think he liked the idea of her rolling her eyes to an unknown guy.
I laughed and felt Percy's hand sliding into mine. I looked up at him and smiled.
"Okay guys!" he exclaimed loudly and everyone's look turned at him. "Party by the beach in an hour!" he announced and everyone yelled happy, exiting. He nodded at me to follow him and I did.
We stopped by his cabin. I sat on his bed while he grabbed a pile of clothes and a photo. "What are you doing?" I asked him.
"I'm getting some of my clothes to the cabin by the beach." he answered and sat next to me. I glanced at the photo he was holding, but couldn't distinguish who pictured.
"And the photo?" I asked. He grinned and showed me the photo. It pictured me and him a long time ago, when we first dated. We were in our swimsuits, Percy controlling water and attacking me ruthlessly with water balls. I had a serious wet expression, but you could see that my lips had quirked up in a smirk. I laughed while remembering that the photographer, Grover, soon got the double attack than I had.
"I think I'll show this one at our wedding guests on our wedding day." he teased me and I slapped his shoulder.
"Maybe we'll show them that other one I took from your mother like what, six years ago? The one that you were just three years old and your baby butt is showed in the camera." I teased him back and he grimaced blushing.
"I bet your baby butt was cuter than mine." he said and I bit my lower lip to prevent my laughs.
"Of course it was. I had the most amazing baby butt of all." I mocked and he chuckled.
"And I know that our baby will have your amazing baby butt." he said and I grinned against his lips.
"Even if he's a boy?" I asked.
"No matter what gender the baby is, its butt will take after yours." he mocked again. "Come on, let's go clear the cabin a little." he said and we left Cabin 3.
We walked holding hands until we reached the beach. The sun would set in a few hours, if not in a few minutes.
I looked at him and he smiled shyly. "Remember when you first kissed me?"
I was taken aback by his question, but remembered our first kiss. "In the Labyrinth?"
"Nope, here. After the Titan war ended, in my birthday."
I laughed. "Yeah, you were too shy to make a move, so I did it." I teased and raised my eyebrow while he smirked.
"You know, I never told you before, but when we were at the attic of the Big House looking for the Great Prophecy, I wanted to kiss you."
I grinned and laughed. "Then why didn't you?"
"Because you said something like 'prophecy' and stuff." he answered and I burst into laughs.
"Oh my gods, that's the silliest excuse you could ever find!" I exclaimed and he grimaced.
"It's not a silly excuse, it's the truth. We were an inch away and you murmured something like 'prophecy' and stuff! It was your fault! You made everything so complicated." he protested and I continued laughing before I wrap my hands around his neck.
"Then, let me repeat what I told you the day I kissed you." I said and he wrapped his hands around my waist. "I am never ever going to make things easy for you Seaweed Brain. Get used to it." I quoted and kissed him like I had kissed him all those years ago. This time though, I knew that I could feel like this forever. I knew that he'd be here until I let out my last breath. And we'd be together.
And when I was about to break off our kiss, I felt a cold liquid splashing over me. I pulled away surprised and gave him my evil laugh. "Oh you didn't."
"I kinda did." he said.
"Get ready to pay for it."
"You're on Wise Girl." he answered and ran into the sea with me running after him. Yeah, this was nice. Ah, I have to agree. Glad you do.
THE END
PLEASE READ!
Don't worry! An epilogue is coming up! Actually, maybe two. I haven't decided yet. You know what? You tell me if you want two epilogues or not.
Anyway, I know that most of you want to kill me right now, but this was a short story. I didn't put a warning on the previous chapter because I, myself, didn't know if the story would end now or in the next chapter. What I mean by that is that this story, as I've said many, many times was something unplanned, totally impulsive and meant to be an oneshot. And of course, never meant to be posted. But when I posted this story thinking that no one would like it and I saw that you actually liked my crappy writing in the first chapters, it made me want to end it. So, here it goes.
Of course I'll edit the chapters to correct my mistakes and then post the epilogue, AND BY THE WAY, Chapter 1 has been edited. Or do you want me to do the epilogue first? I don't know. REVIEW and tell me there.
Did I officially thank you guys? No? I'm truthfully sorry then.
I wanna thank everyone who took the time to read, follow, favorite and review the story. You guys are the best people on Earth and I definitely couldn't have ended it without you. I'll post an extra chapter for that. ;)
Love you all xo
