Sorry it took so long, I had a bit of writers block writing this chapter, and I know its short but I hope you like it and please review.

"Please have a seat," the doctor said to Beth. "Aaron broke a few ribs and when they broke one broke inward puncturing his left lung."
Beth did her best to keep the tears to a limit as she shifted in her seat. "So he can't breathe?"
"No not necessarily. When Aaron entered the hospital he was already unconscious and had been for a few days. When we took him into surgery a large amount of blood had pooled and settled in the lung. We were able to clean it out and patch the tear. He is not able to breath on his own just yet."
"Is the other lung alright?"
"It wasn't damaged but because it was the only working lung it's been over worked. In a few days if should start functioning as it should."
She nodded quickly wiping the tears from her weary eyes. "Is that it?"
"Yes," he said with a sympathetic smile. "He's dehydrated and a bit malnourished but that's an easy fix."
"So there's a machine breathing for him, and you don't know when he'll wake up?"
"That is correct."
"Can I go be with him?"
"Yes, he has stabilized quite well, I'll take you to him," he said standing up.
"Thank you," she whispered as she followed him down the long hall.

-three days ago-

"Ok, you can go to sleep but when I squeeze your hand I expect you to squeeze back," Emily instructed.
"Yes ma'am," he coughed. What he didn't know was that at that moment, when he closed his eyes, he wasn't going to be opening them for god knows how long.

"Hotch wake up! Wake up, you can't leave me out here by myself," the small voice pleaded. He felt the pressure of someone shaking his shoulder and squeezing his limp hand.
"Prentiss!" He shouted but no sound came out of his mouth. "Emily can you hear me?!" His eyes weren't opening and his lips weren't moving. He was awake on the inside but his outside was dead. It was like his conscious had come alive and was sitting inside his head. He then felt something sharp stab his foot. What was that? Hearing her scream his body jolted downwards. "Emily what's going on? Emily answer me!" That's when he heard the gun fire and felt his unconscious mind cease to exist.

-two days ago-

The violent screams that ripped from JJ's throat awoke his unconscious. "Haley!" His mind panicked. The last thing he remembered hearing was a gun going off. All the past emotions of Haley's death where rushing back like the dam had broke. Taking a few minutes to calm down he realized Haley was dead, it was Emily with the gun, and JJ was who was screaming. What was wrong with her? He couldn't see.
"Emily it hurts," she cried. Hotch furrowed his invisible brow. What hurt? And was Emily ok? "Emily don't leave, please stay awake. Don't leave me alone!" Those words sounded just like the ones Emily had said to him. Making him feel like worst person in the world. He wanted to know what was going on. He wanted to help but his body wouldn't let him. As he continued to listen it was like someone was taking a knife and poking at his heart. Hearing JJ cry and wince in pain just made his heart ache. After what seemed like hours, JJ stopped making sounds. Reid and Rossi's voice now came into range.
"JJ oh god!" Reid exclaimed.
"What! What's wrong with her?!" Hotch asked but no one heard, no one even knew he was listening. Before he could call another time his unconscious mind slipped back into darkness.

When he awoke again he heard the soft sounds of the fire popping and Reid and Rossi's muffled voices. "Do you think they're ever going to find us?" Reid asked.
"It's what our fourth, fifth day? People have lasted weeks in the wilderness."
"I know but do you think they will?"
"I have hope."
"I have more hope on them finding us then any of them surviving. I mean Hotch's insides are deteriorating, Morgan's infection is spreading, JJ just lost an excessive amount of blood a few hours ago and I don't know how much longer I can fight the infection in her arm, and only god know how jacked up Emily's bones are plus the fact that her mind is going all wacko and-" but Rossi cut off his rambling.
"Reid... Hope."

-present day-

Beth stood at the end of his bed just staring. He was strapped in a hospital gown with the sheets pulled half way up his chest. The tube that went down his throat was connected to the beeping and contracting ventilator. She was supposed to call his sister in-law, Jessica, with the news so she could bring Jack by to see his dad. Her hand shook as she brought the phone to her ear, she didn't want Jack to see his father like this, but she didn't want to be insensitive and keep him from him. Beth was going to have to leave it up the Jessica to make that decision.
Dialing her number she finally took a seat and held Hotch's hand in her own. "Hello Jessica? It's Beth, he's out of surgery."

The impersonators eyes fluttered open in Hotch's mind expecting to still be in the woods. Hearing Beth's voice made his heart want to jump out of his chest. "Beth!"
A nurse walked in with a needle in hand. "Uh, what's that for?" Beth asked pulling the phone away from her ear.
"It's for the pain. Even though he's unconscious he can still feel."
"Ok," she said nodding and pulling the phone back in.
"Beth can you hear me?!" Hotch shouted. "Beth!" Then he felt the needle go into his arm causing his darkened vision to cease completely. "...Beth..." He whispered.
